Yeti is indeed being fixed! Update 8/4/2014

You know, regardless of the timing or the reasons behind this fix, I'm happy. It should've happened a long time ago, but for reasons I'll probably never know, it didn't. TDO's lack of concern, different priorities, whatever, I'm just glad it's finally (I hope!) getting done. It's a small thing, but having it operate as designed makes for a better experience and maybe, just maybe, indicates a transition from what we've seen to a much better future? Better maintanance, quality experiences, more promising attractions and shows? There is FAR to much gloom in the world and I consider WDW a bastion against some of that. So anything that makes it better, even just a little, is win in my way of thinking. Long live the Yeti!

well put.

I think its because it means WDW management finally is spending money on maintenance again rather than sit down.
I think the Potter saga was finally the Call up the management needed to step up again the maintenance and services.

I dunno. I think it has more to do with George K being in charge of WDW. From what I gather about him, he at least cares about show in the parks. He may not be a "stick his neck out" kind of guy to make things happen, but I feel like he will make improvements when he has the chance (and funding).

No I actually didn't take what you said and run with it. I took what you said at face value.
i never said we should have a bunch of broken yetis and not ever fix stuff, i simply said i d rather have Pandora and New Fantasy Land over a fixed yeti...simple really..and i would assume most reasonable people would rather have that as well

updating and refurbishing are important obviously, but people are still going to DAK even with a broken yeti....you really took what i said and ran with it....i would guess most people who go to DAK dont even know its broke
you kinda took what i said and ran with it didnt you....all i said was to think fixing the yeti is more important than Pandora and NFL combined was extreme

Unfortunately there are tons of people who still think they saw it move/didn't know it was supposed to from the comments at exit after the many times I've been on EE.

That's certainly helped TDO let it sit there for too long.

Heck, I didn't even know it was broken until I came here and saw the thread a few years ago. And that was after a few rides.

I hope the fix rumor is true. I hope to one day see it in A mode.

Is there any independent confirmation of tikiman's info? @marni1971 @Lee @WDW1974 @articos

Anyone?

I would be curious also. I have been so buried with trying to keep up with changes over at the Polynesian that I have not been paying any attention to rumors about parks. When I heard about this I figured that someone else would have already mentioned it somewhere. Has anyone heard anything about the ride closing for rehab?

I did not know it either until reading about it online. Probably why it doesn't bother me that much -- I've enjoyed the ride for what it currently is since that is all I know. I'll probably be blown away if I ever get to enjoy it with the Yeti working properly.

Just once, just once, is it possible to berate TDO without trying to compare to other places?

Everest is still in this mess because of TWDC management. Not due to Comcast. Not due to Six Flags. Not due to the man on the moon.

yup.. same goes for the annual declination of the conditions on Splash Mountain... The whole 'band aid the problem until the annual refurb' gets old fast.

I do have to wonder though in my imagination if they both came online the same day which would create more excitement and media hype

Everest with a fully functioning Yeti
or
Avatar Attraction

Yes... the final scene... Disney reposes the Yeti holding a tray and it says to the passing train: "Snow Cone? Don't worry... its lemon."
My two cents = I think that would be pretty funny. Think about it, the whole build up thru the ride queue is of this scary and vicious monster of the mountain and it turns out to be the monsters inc abominable snowman. Maybe my humor is too simple, after all I have never had a ride on jungle cruise that I didn't lol on.

I guess Harambe Nights is bringing in enough money that they can afford to fix the Yeti now ;)

Honestly though, I could see them wanting to get Everest up and running before the new night shows and extended hours get under way since Everest is one of the few things people would be able to do after dark until Avatar shows up

Um, maybe I missed something in these 49 pages, but the original post was from March and reported that the Yeti would be back up and running in a month. It is now 5 months since then. Has anything happened?

I just saw an old thread bumped from three years ago. Hence the flag.

If there's been new info posted, it got buried.
Here was the new info.
I hate to dig up an old posting but I did not want to start a new one. I don’t have exact dates but soon Everest will be closed for an extended period and the Yeti will be fixed. Sorry if this was already posted somewhere else but I could not find it anywhere.

Ehhh no, disagree completely. I was not all that impressed with DL/WDW as a kid. I thought it was an overhyped, bit boring amusement park. I grudgingly took my kids and got hooked. Then have WATCHED IT DECLINE. You know what helped hook me? Eisner became CEO in 1984 and went mad on expansion. They brought the excitement back and even while raising prices, kept raising the bar. Keep in mind, they had almost no hotels at the time, Poly and Contemporary. Now, all they do is build resort rooms/Time Shares and bump up ticket prices while taking more and more away. They are in a Steep decline, and too many people keep giving them a pass. They are getting passed by at lightning speed, and are trending the same way they were when they were in danger of a hostile takeover under Card/Miller.

This is the same company that had unique night time entertainment and SHUTTERED ALL OF IT so they could be landlords, ignoring the impending business real estate glut, and gave that business to Universal. Even ignoring that it was the biggest pull for the over built Saratoga Springs that they were having a hard enough time selling.

Even forgetting about the rides, they put a real emphasis on the 'Resort' aspect, putting a real effort at exciting dining options with unique fare. Now? Dumbed down menu's, rip off prices and the same thing/ingredients accross the board.

Where is the innovation?
Where is the excitement?
Where is the fine Dining?
Where is the night time entertainment?

Universal.

Disney was THE leader in those things as a vacation destination a decade ago. Now they are clueless.

But hey, tracking wrist bands!

When I hit my teens and could have easily thought I was "too cool" for Disney, I still loved the place because of the innovation. Also, because they would build rides that weren't just aimed at little kids. The also consistently pumped theses rides out every few years. Things were fresh and new each subsequent vacation when my family returned.

you re more excited for a more moveable animatronic that you see for about a second than two expansions with multiple rides, shops, and restaurants? I mean this is a good thing but come on
Yes, I am. Judge me all you want, but with all of the broken effects that guests don't know about that stay broken is ridiculous for the price people pay to get in. It's my own opinion & I'll keep it. :)
