Yeti is indeed being fixed! Update 8/4/2014

Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
I hate to dig up an old posting but I did not want to start a new one. I don’t have exact dates but soon Everest will be closed for an extended period and the Yeti will be fixed. Sorry if this was already posted somewhere else but I could not find it anywhere.
The same people that explained the problems they had with the Yeti years ago and said they would never spend the money to fix it are now being told they are being given the money to fix it and the ride will go down soon (not sure what soon means to them). It seemed like a definite thing that was already in the planning.

Not really concerned anymore with who believes me. People that know me know I don’t make these announcements to take credit for them or to get something out of it. I was just happy to find this out and wanted to share.

I am more surprised no one else has mentioned it before me. They spoke about this like it was a known thing. Has there even been a rumor about Everest closing for refurbishment?

Update appreciated! :)

Sounds exactly like my last visit to the Magic Kingdom...anything that could go wrong, did.

It happens. Even at the best parks. Busy times of the year things seem to happen like this more often.

As for Everest, without the working yeti the ride remains anticlimactic.

Plus that extensive, painstakingly-designed queue makes no sense now, because it's all about the yeti, especially those photos that supposedly show him wrecking the camp. Since he doesn't move, the heck did he do that? Maybe he used telekinesis or something...

most of these problems seems to be cause:

a) you went to ride it as early as possible
b) the ride was still not fully operational as per the "soft opening"?

as for the restaurant prblems.. that sounds something you would see in Magic Kingdom if you didn't had reservations in advance in ANY OF THE RESTAURANTS.
and the equivalent of having to eat at the atrocious Cosmic Ray's because you couldn't find space anywhere else.

Exactly. Like it or not, if you want to dine at a good restaurant in WDW or Uni, you HAVE to make reservations.

Unless, of course, you are a lucky rabbit who happened to hit Be Our Guest at just the right moment and got in for a very nice dinner - without reservations. But even I don't expect that to happen twice...

Actually, according to the Dark*Matter RPG (published by TSR/ Wizards of the Coast), yetis do have psionic potential.

you re more excited for a more moveable animatronic that you see for about a second than two expansions with multiple rides, shops, and restaurants? I mean this is a good thing but come on

^^ Proof that you cannot make everyone happy. :( Did you ever stop to think that maybe fixing this "moveable animatronic" is a sign of things to come? They need to fix the things they have before they build anything new. Otherwise they will have things breaking down, and going defunct as new things are erected and they'll never catch up.

like I said in my last line this is a good thing but a 2 second cameo being fixed over two lands is extreme and a rather silly comment...average fan doesn't think that way

I'm not trying to argue with you, but you're still saying that they should build new lands and new attractions before they fix anything that is broken. In the end will have a bunch of new attractions and a bunch of broken attractions.

updating and refurbishing are important obviously, but people are still going to DAK even with a broken yeti....you really took what i said and ran with it....i would guess most people who go to DAK dont even know its broke
you kinda took what i said and ran with it didnt you....all i said was to think fixing the yeti is more important than Pandora and NFL combined was extreme

No I actually didn't take what you said and run with it. I took what you said at face value.

You know, regardless of the timing or the reasons behind this fix, I'm happy. It should've happened a long time ago, but for reasons I'll probably never know, it didn't. TDO's lack of concern, different priorities, whatever, I'm just glad it's finally (I hope!) getting done. It's a small thing, but having it operate as designed makes for a better experience and maybe, just maybe, indicates a transition from what we've seen to a much better future? Better maintanance, quality experiences, more promising attractions and shows? There is FAR to much gloom in the world and I consider WDW a bastion against some of that. So anything that makes it better, even just a little, is win in my way of thinking. Long live the Yeti!
