It's not the "time" - it's the experience you have during that time. To see a 25 foot fanged roaring creature swing down and try to pluck you out of your seat was awesome. The fact that you were moving toward it and through it's attack then escape out the other side was breathtaking. The first time I rode EE I felt like a kid again because for that 2 seconds my rational mind shut off and my imagination took over - I really thought the damned thing was going to get me! You cannot get that experience in any other ride ( although I haven't gone on Harry Potter yet ). Any ride with a screen won't do it and there is no other AA of that size, realism and fright.

Then you have the dramatic buildup through out the ride - from all the clues and warnings in the queue, through the temple on the way up, the broken track, the train cascasding out of control, the glimpse of the yeti in shadow form, and finally a real encounter with this creature. It is just like a great horror or sci-fi movie except you are living in it. The dissapointment of a broken Yeti is the same as the dissapointment when you watch a monster movie and finally see the monster and say "really, that's it?'.

interesting... well I'll take your place in line... I still love that attraction

The yeti is nearly as important to EE as the drop is to Splash. They're both short, but they make the ride much better.

And they both serve as the climax to the main part of a STORY!

Can we all stop the arguing about the Yeti?

It's very plain and simple, if you ever experienced A-Mode then you understand and have every right to complain. If you haven't experienced it, which I assume most haven't, then stop defending TDO for a broken AA that is essential to the story of a E-Ticket attraction!

Sorry I'm just getting tired of people defending TDO for such a catastrophic failure.

I've experienced A mode... maybe even more than non-A mode... and I STILL think it's fine the way it is. Did I like it better before... heck yeah... but it's not that big of a deal that everyone makes it out to be.

I still think they could rig up a safe way to "move" the yeti without doing the hard arm swing to make him look real...but then everyone would complain about that as well

Some people would compain if Disney gave everyone a magical golden bag of pixie dust at park entrance
Some people would bow down to a broken yeti
I myself just enjoy the parks... I want it to always be 100% and more at all times as well, but truth be told, they are running a business, and they are still filling the parks and nickel and diming all of us to death and we keep going...so...

I didn't say I don't ride it. I still do. The experience is kinda like being "just friends" with a girl you used to have hot sex with.

Let us think of another example since you're no longer riding the aforementioned girl. How about it is like owning an original Van Gogh that you used to love but now are less fond of since that stupid friend of your kids made some Crayola marks in the corner? There. That is an example I think everyone can relate to.

While I still love EE the way it is, the A-mode Yeti was amazing. As @fractal pointed out earlier, you really felt like that sucker was going to snatch you right up out of your seat. My sister doesn't scream on roller coasters but when we rode the first time, the Yeti was in A-mode and he swooped down... Well, she screamed, grabbed onto my arm and ducked. I think what made the Yeti so awesome was that you didn't really expect it to be that huge and swing down so close to your car, so when you did come upon it, you were like "Holy S*$%!! That was close!!" While the Yeti now is pretty cool, the A-mode Yeti just blows it out of the water.

I'm curious if this is a "temporary fix" just for the 15th park anniversary, or if it's a permanent. They did the same thing for the 10th, if I remember correctly, due to Joe Rhode and Disney execs making a visit to the park, but shortly after the celebration, he was switched back to "B" mode/Disco.
