Yeti being fixed

When did the Yeti break? I have never actually seen it work unfortunately.

I've said this in other threads before, but it's worth repeating here. The first time I rode Everest I was actually alarmed and frightened when the Yeti reached down and swiped at the car. I'm a pretty big guy, and I thought he was going to take my head off! I've been on many roller coasters in my life and I've NEVER felt like that on a ride. It was AWESOME!

Without the Yeti it's still a fun ride, and people come off the ride satisfied, so I don't think there's a lot of pressure to fix the Yeti. It frustrates me, because people truly don't know what they're missing. :(

I'm not sure a "lighter" Yeti would be possible. It hasn't been that long since they created the first one that the evolution of materials would make a replacement like that fiscally possible. Especially if you consider the $$$$. Yes, I'm sure a better one could be made but at what cost. If they don't want to spend money to fix, how would they spend money to recreate? Sounds like somebody(s) need to go back and audit their Mechanics of Materials class at UF and then create a better rectification plan.

That is an AMAZING find! I went many times during it's opening year, and right off the bat, I was asking CM's, "Well, is it working today?" Problems from day one, I believe.

THIS! THIS! THIS! THANK YOU, sir. I would LOVE to buy you a beer at Chili's, lol. I cannot TELL you, how many times I've said this exact same statement. God, I live my life feeling like I am stupid and alone. It's so nice to know there are people like me. My cousin -- an exact redneck duplicate of Barry Fife -- is the most humble, unenthusiastic person on this planet. Not the Disney-going type. He's THAT guy. But on his family trip to WDW, he called me right when he got off the ride, and said, "Tyler. I get it. I know why you come down here. I knew it wasn't real, and I'm a grown man... but for a SPLIT second, I thought 'well, maybe'." He said, "As stupid as it was, I was thinking, 'that thing has somehow broke into this ride', I was scared." THAT is what Disney -- and the people who say "it's still a good ride" -- doesn't get. If one part of an attraction can impress and change Jody McDowell's mind, and mind you, nothing else on property did... then by not fixing it, they're making a mistake. #RantOver lol, thank you again for making me feel not alone!

Hearing from a few sources that the yeti will be fixed soon. Now that pandora land has opened Disney will be able to fix the yeti at Animal Kingdom. This is great relief for me and I know a lot of people because I know it's been down for a while now. I was disappointed when it was still down durning my spring trip. I thought it would've been fixed over the next couple of months but I was disappointed when I rode it the other day and it wasn't. I'm hearing now though that image neering now has the resources to fix it and it should be fixed soon. Praying my sources are right but they usually are on these kinda of things

The Yeti is being fixed?!

It's the sign of the apocalypse. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria.

After all these years of hard work acquiring the Disco Yeti status... I have a hard time believing he'd want to give that up.

That's an awesome story! That's what "the magic" is capable of. Disney at it's best. FIX THE YETI!

This is the best video i've seen showing the range of motion the yeti was capable of in its original fully function form (thanks Martin)-

Though keep in mind that this video was shot with the work lights on, not proper show lighting you'd normally see when riding. Properly lit of course, the scene looked closer to this-

My god, that's beautiful. Exactly as I remember it.

After riding E:E on Tuesday night I asked a CM working nearby if there was a date set for the Yeti's fixing. She said no and that any fix would likely involve the Yeti being airlifted out of the mountain with the ride being down about seven months.

There's more to do in the park now, so it's plausible they could take it down for seven months. The Avatar Rite of Passage attraction is a true headliner (and absolutely phenomenal), which again means they could take E:E down.

If/when we get an official announcement from Disney with concrete dates, I will believe it. Until then, I ain't holding my breath.
