Yeti being fixed

On an unrelated note, insider-sources claim Disney is accepting applicants for a new entry-level cast member position. "Puppeteer skills encouraged but not required."

This is exactly what they should do. Remove the AA entirely and hire the Henson company to design a giant puppet for a tiny fraction of what they paid for one of the biggest wastes of budget in Disney history. Have a couple of performers take turns in shifts providing the Yeti's motion. Play it up as "A different experience every time!" It could be 100% better than it's ever been. At this point, no one cares if it's an AA, a projection or a puppet. Just make it *effective.*

Just put a rocket under the Yeti, fire it off. Change the ride name to "Expedition Krakatoa". The queue line could then even remain the same. Problem solved!

The only waste was the waste of time in the last ten years not fixing it.

Wasn't there like a complete interview with one or two of the creators of the Yeti a few years back right after AK opened? I feel like the creators themselves put so much time and thought into making the Yeti look realistic, well...into the effect at least. I guess the engineering went way over their heads.

So many years of hoping. Disney could have organized a trip to the Himalayans and caught a real Yeti and brought it back to AK by this time.

YES! They talk about how EVERYTHING in the ride - the detailed queue, the ride itself, the ride elements (the wrecked track, the shadow on the wall, etc), the sounds - it's all building toward that final dramatic encounter with the Yeti.

That's what always drove me crazy... it's the focal point of the entire ride! It's like having Splash Mountain without the big plunge at the end.

There are a number of promotional videos that Disney put out stating that the Yeti, the mountain and track support structure are separate and do not interact with each other.

We also know that the Yeti was installed after the mountain was built.

Lastly, it has been confirmed by multiple sources that the yeti has been fully removed at least once.
Thanks Yoda. Hopefully this will put to rest a lot of additional posts.

Repair/replacement of the Yeti was, from what I was told a year or two ago, tentatively planned for sometime in 2018/2019, after Pandora opened. Also heard that one of the possible options was to replace the figure with a new, lighter-weight Yeti AA. Not sure how valid that option may be, but it makes sense... And no, I didn't hear any of that from a bus driver, or a tram driver, or from random people on Twitter. Have a CM friend who works primarily backstage at AK. Not that they have any more information than other CMs, but some of the things I've been told by this person in the past have been pretty solid.

And I'd also think that after Pandora and the Guardians Tower in DCA, Joe Rohde would have enough goodwill/clout to finally get one of his babies fixed. I've heard it bugs him to no end that the Yeti is still broken. :(
