Pre-Trip Yep, we're really going in July.

This will be our 5th trip to Disney and yes we should know better than to go to Disney in July. But due to our oldest starting her second year in college we can't pull her out of school like we have in the past so we'll just have to deal with the crowds and the heat. Regardless we are all excited about our up coming trip.
Here we are....

We are also bringing a friend of my daughters but don't have a photo at this time.

As of today we have 57 days until our vacation and 60 days until we arrive at Disney!!

And that means that today was the day that we got to book fast passes. Oh what stress that was. Now, I'm a planner but it's a little stressful planning out days 60 days in advance when things change, moods change, people want to sleep in....etc. I did get a few for 7DMT and the new Frozen ride in Epcot.

We will be arriving on the last day that Dinosaur will be open before the refurbishment so we'll definitely be riding that.

We will be getting two rooms at AllStar Movies for this trip. I will be missing POR but with 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms ASM will be much appreciated.

I love Disney in July. BOG lunch is just ok. Never tried Ohana's. Thumbs down for Cape May, as with any Disney buffet. I'd rather have one delicious serving than loads of mediocrity. Thumbs up for Via Napoli and 50s PT. I always have to throw in a recommendation for Whispering Canyon.
My DD wants BOG for the ambiance and I can't believe I'll admit this but I'm so looking forward to the French Onion Soup!! I know its July but this is my chance to get it so if anyone see a middle aged woman sweating buckets while eating steaming hot soup... that would be me! Then my other DD, son and husband love Cape May. So they will do that while DD, her friend and myself will be eating some delicious pizza at Via Napoli!!

I think you unearthed your hidden crafty gene, because those ears are certified crafty (and clever, and well-done!). I particularly like the Smee ones and the ToT.

I found lunch at BoG to be just okay, but it's gotta be done at least once, right? ;) Recently ate lunch at 50's PT and it was great. You'll have fun at that meal.

Have a great trip!
Thanks for the compliment on the Ears! I really wanted to put a stocking cap on Smee but my sewing skills are very limited and it just looked ridiculous so i tried the ribbon and really liked it. Glad to hear you liked 50's. We wanted to try something new. I hear the Peanut butter and Jelly shake is delicious!!

Both of you ladies need to consider Girls Cruise...because I need more dance partners. :)
I saw a thread on the girls cruise maybe two years ago and thought it looked so fun! One of these days I would love to do that!!

I'll be there sweating it out with you!
54 days to go for me
We're also try BOG for lunch this trip, and first time at 50's! (I feel like we figured this out on the countdown thread)
I'll be keeping an eye out for those ears! Hope I see you!
That's right!! I remember! So excited. How's your planning coming along?

Those ears are seriously Magically AWESOME!!

So, its be 89 here in Michigan the last few days, which is very warm for this time of year. I've been working outside doing yard cleanup and sweating like crazy. My kids asked why I was outside when it's so HOT, I said that I was conditioning myself for our August trip to Disney...LOL.

We went in July last year. It was a surpise birthday trip for my DD who was turning 14. We always had told her we would never go to Disney on her birthday because of the heat and crowds. She had tears of joy when we told her on the drive down. Surprisingly, it was not anymore crowded than in May and at certain times seemed even less crowded. I think if you just accept the heat and crowds all will be good. It is Disney after all.

What a sweet surprise for your daughter! Glad to hear that your trip in July was such a good time. We definitely are keeping the heat and crowds in mind and will have a wonderful time regardless!

Coming along great! We're doing Behind the Seeds at The Land and trying a bunch of new restaurants. Just waiting to book FP+ since we're staying off site.
Kinda jealous you've already got yours!

What day are you doing BOG lunch? I'll be there 7/23

I'm very excited today for some reason!! Maybe i'll put all my energy into cleaning the house today (while listening to Disney music of course)! :D

Our reservation for BOG is on the 24th, it's also our arrival day! We're definitely heading to AK sometime that night to ride Dinosaur before it goes down for refurbishment.

OOOhhh I've been wanting to do the Behind the Seeds tour. None of the kids have been interested in it but now that they're old enough I think maybe i'll get reservations for just Joe and I. Now I'm really excited!! :joyfull:

Excited for you! Our last 3 trips were either in late July or early August. It's not ideal but very manageable.

Get up early.
Stay hydrated.
Lots of sunscreen.
Mid-days are for resort pool, naps, waterparks or if you're in a park it's the time for dark rides.
bring ponchos - if your in a park during a downpour the crowds will quickly clear out. Take advantage.
Stay late. Summer nights in the parks are awesome. I would jump on the new evening hours at AK. Beautiful & different park at night.

Have fun!

These are great tips, thanks so much for the input. I'll definitely add poncho's to our packing list.

I'm wondering if the parks will be open as late this summer compared to past summers. Everyone keeps talking about cut backs and the parks calendars don't seem to be contradicting that claim. I hope that I'm just worrying too much. But I am very excited about AK at night!!
