Pre-Trip Yep, we're really going in July.

This will be our 5th trip to Disney and yes we should know better than to go to Disney in July. But due to our oldest starting her second year in college we can't pull her out of school like we have in the past so we'll just have to deal with the crowds and the heat. Regardless we are all excited about our up coming trip.
Here we are....

We are also bringing a friend of my daughters but don't have a photo at this time.

As of today we have 57 days until our vacation and 60 days until we arrive at Disney!!

And that means that today was the day that we got to book fast passes. Oh what stress that was. Now, I'm a planner but it's a little stressful planning out days 60 days in advance when things change, moods change, people want to sleep in....etc. I did get a few for 7DMT and the new Frozen ride in Epcot.

We will be arriving on the last day that Dinosaur will be open before the refurbishment so we'll definitely be riding that.

We will be getting two rooms at AllStar Movies for this trip. I will be missing POR but with 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms ASM will be much appreciated.

Oh my Gosh! I pulled up maps on allears and I'm still not getting it. I've never stayed at any of these resorts and only been to Cape May for dinner so the area is pretty much unknown to us except for a quick peek at Boardwalk on a one day trip. So if I leave Beach Club, walk past Boardwalk and head to Swolphin I'll see the sign?
Walk to the Boardwalk resort from Beach Club. You head towards the Swan. The walkway will curve around the Boardwalk and then you will see the Villa's on the left. Keep following the path. The water will always be on your right. You will pass the Boardwalk pool on your left. Keep going down the path. It is a beautiful walk.

That's the long way! I assumed that you'd leave Beach Club walking in the direction of Yacht Club and approach Swolphin from that direction. If you head for Boardwalk from BC, stick close to Jellyroll's when passing between it and Atlantic Dance. Once you reach the end of the Jellyroll's building, stay to your left, follow around toward the Villas buildings and you should see the sign for the pathway, it's right there. The sign has two arrows, one says "maintenance path" and the other says "path to DHS". As long as you're walking in front of the Villas building, you'll be able to connect to the DHS path, there are a couple of staircases.

Maybe this picture will help? The red circle is the archway to the BW from the Swolphin. The red arrow is pointing to the DHS path, the blue arrow to the maintenance path. You can see Jellyroll's to help orient yourself.

@Tiggerish your wonderful!! This picture helps alot!

We will be leaving from Beaches. I just assumed we would go past BW instead of YC. With the picture it gives me an idea of what I'm looking for. Last time we tried to find the path we ended up at Fantasia Garden Golf. And I'm usually good with directions... I will say it was very dark last time we looked :)

This is paramount...get an ADR for Beaches and Cream :). I have been trying for weeks to get one for next week without success. The place is teeny tiny and doesn't often accept walk-ups. You may also need the ADR to park in the Beach Club lot; during busy times you may be turned away without one.

The Kitchen Sink comes in two additional flavors beside the original...chocolate lovers and fruit lovers...in case your family is interested. :p

You can always take the boat from Yacht & Beach to DHS instead of walking (allow 30 minutes). But if you'd rather walk, head towards the Swolfin and cross the bridge over to Boardwalk. Turn right and just stay on the walkway...it will end at the DHS parking lot. Turn right and walk towards the entrance, easy-peasy. Walking will take 20-25 minutes depending on your pace.
I'm going to try to book our reservation tonight!! Good thing were still 50 days out...Well, I just tried looking and nothings available so it looks like I'm gong to be checking daily:(

And thank you for the idea of the boat. I may use that as a back up but right now I think a good walk will do us good after all that ice cream!

I'm very happy to announce that I walked in on Joe and my oldest daughter talking about Disney!! (they tend to not act so excited but I think they secretly are). They were discussing what we haven't done yet and wanted me to help them list all the things we haven't done besides shows in the parks. They really want to do the Kitchen Sink. I'm just so happy that they are planning something without me pushing them! For anyone that doesn't know what that is...

!

Everyone is very excited about this new adventure :hungry:

What I would like to do is drive to Beaches N Cream on one of our days that we'll be in Orlando but not yet checked in to our Disney resort. Afterwards maybe walking over to the entrance of HS and watching the Star Wars fireworks. The problem, if any of you may have read my previous Christmas report is, we attempted to walk to HS before and got lost....It's a long story. Anyway, I need the knowledge of @Tuvalu or @epcotisbest to tell me the best way to get to HS walkway from Beach Club Resort?

Hey @Zipitidoda sorry I missed your question, was outta town for a few days then came back and just flat out missed it, but looks like you have gotten good information already. To try to help a bit, here is the path from Beaches and Cream to DHS marked in red. It took two pics to draw it all, so just imagine the red line linked together to make one map. It is a fun, scenic walk. Hope this does not confuse things after you already got directions. The main thing is when you leave B and C, go out past Stormalong Bay, hang a right and go past the boat loading pier and little lighthouse at the YC, go toward Swan and Dolphin then beside the canal on your right with the Boardwalk Villas on your left. If you follow the canal where the boats go, the path will take you under the road and on to DHS. Confused yet? I am.

It's hard to be happy and in the Disney mood today with all that has happened but I guess all I can do is pray for the families.

We also made a few extra ears with our left over supplies. Hoping to sell them in our garage sale. Cady also made an Aurora pair and a Minnie pair for herself.

I attempted to make another Smee one but with his stocking cap. I'm still not sure if I like it. I may end up ripping off the hat and adding a bow like the first one.

I also have these two little hats I got a few years ago. I think they're called MousekaEars.

But my big find is a Tee Shirt for Joe. He was a Breaking Bad fan so I was excited when I found this shirt.

As a kid, we went to Disney in July and August plenty of times. It was hot and humid but heck we were at Disney. What we did was chill out at the pool all day and then get ready to go to the park for dinner. We would then stay until the park closed around midnight or 1am. In the summer the park closed late and I loved seeing the park all a glow in lights. So awesome.

That actually sounds like a great plan! I do hope that the parks stay open that late, the calendar for July still says they're closing at 10 at the MK.

Used to go in summer for many years - great trips. It's wonderful being in the parks on a summer night. But get the heck out of Dodge in the mid afternoon...everyone still toughing it out will usually end up cranky, tired and heat exhausted by then. aka...Meltdown Mania.

So excited that you have a trip planned. Those ears are awesome - I did think of making some but everything flopped forward, maybe we don't have good base ones in the UK! Any tips appreciated.
As you know PORS is my home too but I am sure you will have a great time wherever you lay your weiry heads. :)
