WWYC? Tomorrowland Stitch Dance Party...in a parking lot?

They would get rid of Buzz and expand in that direction before moving COP.

Except Buzz is still one of the top attractions attendance-wise in all of WDW. COP would def go before Buzz.

And I don't care what people say. Stitch is a great character. Unfortunately he's got a garbage ride and the marketing people only use his "naughty" side. It's sad really.

And I don't understand why parking would be going in there. Any of you guys more in the know think it's just temporary until something new?

Back to the topic at hand: even if this is true, I will be really irritated if it occurs before January. I really enjoy Mickey's Night Before Christmas, and would be sad to see it go. If it does get razed after the holidays, hopefully a suitable replacement will be built in the MK. You can't really move MVMCP events to DHS.

Don't worry, GPT is already set up for MNBC. The theater will be going away to make more room in the parking lot. The front will be redesigned for Stitch and Buzz Meet & Greets.

The parkinglot is needed. I went backstage in 2005 on both sides of Main Street and the CoP parkinglot side is very tight, it is used for parking, storage, unloading and shipping of items, etc. Demolishing the galaxy palace theater is needed very much.

They also could knock down the old AAA lounge that sits between the galaxy palace theater and CoP.

Then, all they have to do is make a wall that runs from the CoP to Buzz. It would sit underneath the wall that runs along the TTA track, that wall, of course that TTA wall would have to be replaced so windows don't look out into the parkinglot. The space that is on the onstage side of the theater can be covered with foliage, benches, a new smoking area, extended stroller parking, etc.

The CoP is planned for a refurb sometime before the 40th in 2011. However, that doesn't mean the CoP would be excluded from any retro or celebration of WDW's history, rather the budget and ride refurb is easy enough to get done BEFORE 2011.

This isn't any groundbreaking or shocking news. Afterall, how long do you want to keep hearing about car phones :lookaroun It's not the like the ride will be tripped out, but it does need a cleaning and fixing.

An early budget was spent on recarpeting, repainting, and refurbishing all of the carousel theaters. The load and unload stages were cleaned, and in the load theater, the curtain that lowers was lubricated so it doesn't squeak.

The exterior was later repainted, and surprise fastpasses were given off, as well as additional signage during peak times of the year to get more people on the ride.

The next budget, some of which has been spent, includes general upkeep of the sets themselves such as cleaning and dusting. Rover in Act IV got a new fur coat, as well as Rover in an earlier Act. The television in the 1940s works now,etc

Remember how the Epcot wand was left with burnt lights, peeling paint, fading exterior? And this was months before it was finally taken down.

The CoP isn't going anywhere. The rest of the budget, depending on how and when it will be done will improve the AA's, and give the ride a new ending. A new cast of voices and recording of the song will be needed.

The ride closed in 1994 for about three months for it's refurb. Doing so in an off peak time of year would be very easy for this ride.

As for an E-ticket....then you have the TTA which would have to run through the E-ticket, then you have to factor in a queue, exit queue, giftshop, let alone the sloping of land to the railroad tracks, then you'd have to extend out the railroad tracks, then fill up lower parts of land.

There's no room for an E-ticket.

Demolishing the skyway and maxing out the land so a C or D ticket runs between space mountain and the CoP...more likely, but not 100%....however....some food for thought....a C or D ticket would compliment a refurbed space mountain, and a path that would lead people right over to a refurbed CoP and I assume a refurbed TTA due to the refurb of Space Mountain.

People will be back in tomorrowland. Fanboys and Sweatshirt Moms hand in hand

I'd really love to see a highly themed full service restaurant in Tomorrowland personally. But hey, I can't complain about a new ride.

have you not heard about The Princess and the Frog?

Ahhh, apparently not. Thanks for the link. Sometimes, I'm amazed at my own lack of ability in finding information so readily available on this dang nabbit intraanet. Tha darn google taint werkin ageen. :brick:

But after seeing some previews, seems promising. Certainly seems modeled after the older Disney animated films. Have to wait to see how the story turns out.

And more on topic, how often does the galaxy theater have shows? Last time I was there, I don't even remember seeing the entrance, and we were on COP, TTA, Space a few times.

I don't get how there is room for a C or D ticket, but not an E ticket. Do you mean no room for a thrill ride? Size is not only determinative factor in whether an attraction is a C, D, or E ticket. There could easily be a small E ticket that utilized some awesome technology. Now, I hope this isn't the plan, but it could certainly happen.

I can't believe the parking lot will become permanent. There is plenty of room for an e-ticket as you describe it. They really need to add a parking garage or two to the MK to alleviate congestion and allow the park to grow. You can see that on satellite photos.

Here's a quote from the JHM article:

"More to the point, a few years from now, once the economy recovers (More importantly, once the Imagineers finally get serious about revamping the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland. This long-in-the-planning project reportedly includes a rather large "E" Ticket. An attraction that's supposedly so big that it would then have to be housed in a show building that would swallow up all of the space that the Galaxy Palace Theater, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress and the old Tomorrowland Skyway Station currently occupies), then Disney will make far better use of this valuable piece of real estate. I hope."

So to summarize at this point, Martin and others seem to confirm that Jim is right about the Theater getting razed. But the sentiment seems to be that he is off about the above.

And as far as freedom of speech goes, this is a UK based forum
OT (and a pet peeve), but even if this were a US-based forum, it wouldn't matter. The first amendment of the constiution talks only about the government's (in)ability to restrict speech. Private parties, on private property (like this forum) can restrict any speech they like.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

I posted that in a previous post, and it was moderated. Ironically, the location of this site's servers is not the only consideration to what laws govern it. WDWMagic is clearly "in" the US stream of commerce. If the US Constitution extended to internet forums (for whatever reason), it would extend to WDWMagic, too.

As for the E ticket stuff, I was responding to Expo_Seeker's points, not JHM. Independent of what Jim Hill is saying, there is room for an E Ticket there if there is room for a D Ticket. Physical size of an attraction is not determinative for its "Ticket". That's my point.

Jim Hill probably made this up because he knew it would start a huge debate. He's probably in his evil lair right now petting his cat and laughing...

There are three things that irk me about these forums: political trash talking, denigrating Southerners, and bashing religion. We've now covered the first two. Anybody open to a hat trick?

so what happens to Twas??

The GT was needed for special events so I have to believe there is some plan to build a stage somewhere else in the MK. Or maybe they will just present the show in front of the castle. Or maybe it will go to another park . Actually, I have no idea.

love how your signature refers to southeners as "hicks", is that a name they prefer?
Good catch on the sig. Pinto Colvig, who provided the original voice of Goofy, used the term affectionately. On the other hand, when someone wants to mimic an idiot around here, it is amazing how the dialect gets a "Southern" flavor. Can someone explain that to me?
