Hi all, question please....

was reading Tom and Sarah's honeymoon trip report and Tom mentioned he couldn't go in a pool at another hotel because he didn't have a wrist band.... is this something new?

I am not wanting to start a debate about pool hopping, just never heard of needing a wristband to go into a pool...
thanks:)

The pool at Beach Club has wristbands. As far as I know it's the only one.

They have too many people who try to pool hop there just because it is a very nice pool.

That one confused me a bit, too...but for a different reason. I have stayed at the BC and understand the need for wristbands - the pool is AMAZING! The thing that confused me was that he and his wife are DVC...I thought that DVC could pool hop? Maybe not to that pool, I guess...

DVC can't pool hop at that pool.

We are DVC and poolhopping restrictions apply to all types of guests. We usually stay at Boardwalk (it is one of our homes) and their pool is nice but Beach Club is exceptional. We did stay at BC once and used the pool and really enjoyed it and see why they have to restrict its' usage. I'll be anxious to see the new pool at Saratoga when it is finished. That is our other home.

Ok, I am going out on a limb here - WITH NO INTENTIONS of creating a heated dabate, please:shrug:

I hear you all say that pool hopping is prohibited, ( I have never pool hopped),
Does it physically state this in writing somewhere?

thank you :)

I have no idea where it would be in writing!

The only place where pool hopping is ok is the All Star Resorts, I think!?! I'm pretty sure you can use any pool at the AS Resorts!?!

And Riverside and FQ are "allowed" to pool hop as well, right!?!

I found a photo online of the Pool Rules sign from the Luna Park Pool at the Boardwalk. It clearly states "This pool area is for the exclusive use of Disney's Boardwalk and Villas Resort Guests."

I presume a similar notice is posted at the pools at other hotels.

It says in writing usually on a sign outside the pool area at Beach Club and Animal Kingdom is the other one you can't pool hop. It will be in your literature for your hotel, and I think it is on the DVC web-site but I will have to check that to be sure. And they do check for wristbands, especially when they are in peak seasons. It's a real bummer I know but the poor guests at that hotel would never stand a chance because it is not a huge pool - it is just fantastic!

so are you guys saying that some pools are ok to pool hop but some are prohibited? Or just some are more strict about it- and it is stated somewhere that there is no pool hopping period?

I don't even know why I am asking- I guess after reading part of Tom's trip report and remembering all the debating about it on the forums, and the fact that I am leaving for WDW in 15 days!:sohappy: AND the fact I just like definitive answers- black or white- ........

again please NO heated debated- not into that! thanks:animwink:

It is only OK to pool hop under certain circumstances, as mentioned above.

Almost all of the pools have signs which state they are for resort guests (and DVC at certain pools) only. There are large resorts which have multiple pools, along with sister resorts (Swan & Dolphin, All Stars, etc) that share pools.

I have never felt the desire to go swim at another resort, and half of the time I'm too tired to even swim where I'm staying. I'd rather take a nice shower and catch a quick nap in my cool, comfortable bed - rather than roast out in the sun.

Pool hopping is not allowed. Resort pools are for Resort Guest only. Disney Vacation Club Members may pool hop during certain time periods and only at certain resorts. I have seen on several occasions guests being asked to leave for pool hopping at a resort they didn't stay at (especially the monorail resorts). This past July for example an entire family was escourted out of the Grand Floridian cause they were not staying there.

For regular guests, pool hopping is not permitted except where hotels share pools (PORS/POFQ) (All Star Resorts). DVC members can go to some other DVC resort pools as specified in the DVC rules.

Even my apartment complex issues wristbands, so no unwanted guests try to drop by for a swim... I guess it's all the rage these days?
