Wow! Monorail Orange.

I rarely complain about anything, besides you are wrong. The dolls representing Wales in It's a Small World had been missing for years, I emailed Disney and a few days later they magically appeared back in the ride. It does get things done I can assure you.
Complaining when you have a valid complaint does sometimes get things done, yes. I said that. But if all you do is complain (not saying this is you) then your complaints become meaningless and are ignored.

Guess it's time I start getting some e-mails in ... I'm glad to know they respond and seem to take it seriously.
If only people emailed about things we really find important! We'd have Horizons, a working Yeti, and zero ECVs.

Apparently correlation and causation are the same thing. Hang onto your hats, the world is about to get crazy.

Yes, one out of twelve. The other eleven are still filthy. Disney magic right there. I willl save my compliments until the day all of the trains look that good inside and out and stay that way permanently through frequent maintence. Something that appears to be lacking. Orange may look good now but when is it scheduled for another spruce up? a year from now? two years? five years? It won't look that good a few months from now that's for sure.

If you actually cared enough you would be criticising too, by complaining things get done and improvements are made.

Why are people being so complimentary? This is how all the monorails are supposed to look every. single. day. Just goes to show how little Disney actually cares about them. Enjoy Monorail Orange as much as you can as isn't going to look like that for long.

Complimenting because it's good to see something fixed rather than neglected.
I complemented when positive steps are taken.

While at the Grand Floridian today I noticed monorail orange paused at the station. It was at the express side. The act in itself did not catch my attention but how shiny and clean monorail orange was did! Aside from a little bit of grime at the very underside of the fins, she looked almost brand-new! You can literally see a reflection in the paint. It was not just the nose cone it was the entire train. Even the grey connector coverings inbetween the cars, which I failed to get a picture of, looked great . All the panels were the same shade of white. View attachment 211654 View attachment 211655
Thank you all for noticing I finally took the time to go to the spa for a little refresher. :hilarious:

I was there last May and didn't get a newly carpeted cab - do these refreshed ones still smell like a petting zoo?

I'm probably in the minority, but I really wish WDW would paint each monorail completely in their corresponding color. Like make orange completely orange, make blue completely blue, etc. instead of just the line colors. When we went to Disneyland last year I was really impressed with how their monorails looked in full color.

The orange monorail does look great though.
I wish Disney painted each one to a theme. I want a Mickey monorail, a goofy, have 1 constantly changing for whatever movie Disney is big on at the time.

I didn't notice a smell this last go around but I didn't spend a ton of time on the monorails. I'm also one to never take note of which color I'm on ... LOL. I should start paying attention to that.

So was reading the commentary on the monorail piece falling off, and it struck me that these should be motor (not engine) driven. Off of an electric line. So there really should be minimal reason to replace as long as they are maintained. AC units can/should be replaced when needed; mold cleaned; carpets replaced; the exterior refinished. Things break and then they should be fixed, and as long maintenance is appropriately and routinely performed, then the trains should be sparkling.

It's not like MK doesn't have some 100 year old trains running as well.

ugh... god no. :hungover:

I gotta completely disagree on this one. I like the understated, classy look. Not everything has to be bold and in your face.

Too bad paint can't make it look less previous century and more experimental prototype community of tomorrow.

Maybe paint the top half that particular color and leave the bottom white?
For a maintenance/costs point of view, I think the opposite should be better.
White paint reflects, so its better to have the sun being reflected back than being absorbed by using darker colors on top.
This can save a bunch of money in the long run in A/C Bills.

Same way with planes (they have to make a fine balance between painting for corrosion and adding too much weight)

I'm sure your email alone was the reason.
I honestly could imagine an scenario where they were removed for repairs, but the repair members FORGOT about putting them back. They received the email and went "OH CRAP.. " and installed them where they belong.

I fully agree they should be doing this regularly but I still think it's OK to acknowledge that they are doing it and being able to appreciate that they are. It's still an improvement.
oh I agree, but his has nothing to do with "taking the initiative".
The "initiative" would have been ordering NEW monorails to mark the 50th anniversary in style.
Painting and renovating is not.
