Check out the Chapek interview on the previous page. He said that masks will likely be required for guests and cast. So they definitely have the intention, but will they follow thru?
Everyone has a boss and the executives that run the parks will need to answer to Chapek if his direction is not followed.

Interesting news story:

I don't know whats more disturbing people not adhering to social distancing guidelines or the fact these people can't make a good cup of coffee at home...

This is just a small sample size, a coffee shop and it seems like no one cares. How can anyone expect people to follow the rules at Disney World?

(My 44-year-old sister-in-law literally can't make a cup of tea. I'm dead serious.)

What's missing from that story is that the cafe opened against state mandates. Dine-in is not currently allowed in Colorado. The owner of the cafe believes it's her constitutional right to open. They encouraged people to not wear masks and not socially distance and thus gathered like-minded individuals. "A sign on the door advised customers to avoid entering if they were "scared" by the lack of precautions." https://coloradocommunitymedia.com/...ws-crowd-against-public-health-orders,298725?

Hopefully a place like Disney would set guidelines and then (at least attempt to) enforce those guidelines, thus drawing people willing to abide by the guidelines. I'm sure it will be unpopular with some, just as some people are angry that Costco has mandated masks.

Pirates you don’t really get wet so should be OK. I was thinking Splash and Kali River more for WDW. I guess you just have guests take the mask off on the water rides. If you limit each ride vehicle to 1 family group it shouldn’t matter. Does Shanghai have pools at their resorts open? I would also think masks in a swimming pool wouldn’t work.

Question to those who voted “Yes”:
Have you thought about the other effects that mask policy would have? Such as... no water parks, no resort pools, limited Disney transportation, and limited/no recreational options?
Many people did answer it with that caveat. We have actually no issue with the mask but the reduced offerings is why we cancelled our trip.

I had not heard that the resort pools would be closed

Nobody officially said the pools would be closed. It’s just hard to imagine how masks and social distancing could work in a pool. You could space out lounge chairs and close water slides. In the pool itself you can’t really have effective social distancing or masks unless you don’t allow anyone to dunk their head underwater or move around much.

Some big names in the water park industry are still planning on opening this summer *like Kalahari*.

I think this situation sets up a really big lawsuit because the rules are so inconsistent, (ex: Utah zoos are opened but in Michigan we're still under house arrest, Pigeon force has an amusement park open already and everything else is shutdown in other states)
Those places may be opening without a mask rule. Disney is not being forced to require masks by the state or local government they are implementing it as part of their own plan.

Right there is the problem. Way too much leeway for people and their "beliefs".
Add someone like that showing up with an entitled attitude like so many others who abuse things because they feel they are paying this much for a Disney vacation they can do whatever they want and very little pushback from castmembers who only have authority to advise.

*BREAKING NEWS* First amusement park to open in US! Rides and attractions and arcade now open in Pigeon Force!
I was up that way this past weekend -- the Great Smoky Mountain National Park was gorgeous.

While Pigeon Forge was largely open, I'm not sure it qualifies as an "Amusement Park". There are a number of attractions there like the ferris wheel, go carts, arcades, those people sling shot things, etc that were almost all operating. Dollywood isn't yet open, though.

Things were relatively busy but not massively crowded in Pigeon Forge, but Gatlinburg was pretty crowded even though most of their attractions weren't open - probably because it's so narrow and they had closed half the road to allow for better social distancing on the sidewalks.

Contrast that with Cherokee, NC (on the other side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge) which looked like a desolate ghost town with nothing open and no people.

Just got this email from Island H2O Water Park just down the road from DAK, and I’m pretty sure it’s in Osceola county, which still has a mask mandate.
It looks like they’re going to open on June 1st. I don’t know how that will work if the mask mandate is still in place or if they have insider info that the mandate will be lifted by then.

No concerns except for the fact that each square only fits about 1.5 people.

There is one square in another video that had 4 adults and 2 youngish kids in honestly should they be opening any entertainment venues until there are no more cases or a treatment plan has been developed.

Plus masks only help if you have covid-19, cough or sneeze. Masks have to be changed when they are damp so that isn't going to work in humid central of O-Town, otherwise they don't stop water droplets being captured by the wearer and then you should be wearing N95 masks.

If we waited longer it is what it is.

They are not going to open the resorts and not have the pools open and they will.

They are going to open the resorts and the parks YES we will have things that need to follow yes is everyone going to like it NO. The bottom line they need to get folks back to work, they will have guests that will not come back until they can do things as Normal but will we honestly ever get back to normal (I hope so but you never know).

When we stay yes they will have the pools open will we have limited capacity sure, hell we were at Disney in March staying at AKL Jambo house and less than 10 people were in the pool and it was the 80's.

Disney knows what the plan is they are not ready to share it with folks yet my bet is they are waiting to see how Shangahi goes this week before they release plans for Florida we will see the parks and resorts open this summer.
A lot of “assumptions” in there...
And if they do open with a masks requirement, will that mean masks to be worn while swimming? If not, then doesn't that make a complete mockery of the mask requirement?
See above
A bit different in the water plus that will be an issue with masks coming apart in the water and clogging up with filtration system and pumps.

Again some will be totally against anything that they do not like and will not accept change others will adapt the rest will good luck staying at home while other enjoy them selves.
See above above
For all those excited that the parks may be less crowded over this, I would not expect operations to be at the same efficiency. Less income and more budgeted elsewhere means less trains cycling, one station procedure when there are dual loading platforms. And you will likely be waiting in the elements a lot more before your turn etc...
This is a severe disconnect. Many people are assuming discounts...many others are assuming full availability...still others are assuming availability and walk ons - aka operating at a loss...

Don’t see any of those things as it stands...they don’t equate.

The good news is that no one will likely be there...so very effective “social distancing”

What is your number :D not saying it's going to be great but our family book our 3 fast passes then normally go home and if we are staying on property we are going back to our room.

We have 2 summer stays this year 6/7-12, 7/3-6 we normally do the pools during the day and I take the older kids to the park in the evening. I am out in the warm Florida weather with a mask waiting to get into Publix and Costco honestly not a big deal and I have been out a few weeks ago when it was 95 outside with my mask on for 30 minutes waiting to get in. Yes it sucks god what I would not give to go back to what it was like before but we cannot and most likely will not for the next 12-24 months.
I understand what you're saying but your family is right there in the area...the OCD in my user name stands for obsessive, compulsive Disney (lol), but for our family of 4 to do our 7-10 day trip right from NJ, it can get close to 10K...I can't justify spending even 50% of that for a park with that many restrictions...I'm a big boy...I'll put on my big boy pants, suck it up and wait until things get VERY CLOSE to "normal". I would think that many (not all) people from other parts of the US that are further away than us would feel the same way.
