WWWAAAYYY late to this discussion, BUT, as you can see by my countdown clock, we were scheduled to drive down in 1 week...that was cancelled so my wife booked the same trip for mid June, which was also cancelled...(driving down from NJ & was our "family trip"). My wife and I also have a second honeymoon planned for early December. For the amount of $$ we spend to do it right, if the park is not 90%, we're just not going to go. It's like trying to get your Disney fix by popping into the Disney store...it's just a tease. In October, it will be 27 years...one more year won't kill us...

Yes this is the new norm for now it's a minor inconvenience but we can still enjoy Disney. For the folks that say no and do not want to visit so be it but if this meant you could not visit for say 24 months you give the rest of us more ride time.
Call me after you have a mask on from 9-9 on July 15th...

I’m not saying its an inconvenience that can’t be tolerated...i’m saying my guess is it pushes the line a lot closer to “is it worth it to be here?” than what people believe its going to...

Agreed. It's gonna be tough!

I could see things being a lot easier if people had access to multiple throw-away masks throughout the day. Wearing the same one or two cloth masks will be rough. There are studies out there showing that not only are cloth masks totally ineffective, but that they actually increase your chances of getting sick, due to moisture retention and improper handling. You had better believe there will be moisture problems here in Florida!

I don’t think Disney has the slightest intention of opening with the mask policy...for the reasons you state and others.

I could be wrong...we’ll see.

What is your number :D not saying it's going to be great but our family book our 3 fast passes then normally go home and if we are staying on property we are going back to our room.

We have 2 summer stays this year 6/7-12, 7/3-6 we normally do the pools during the day and I take the older kids to the park in the evening. I am out in the warm Florida weather with a mask waiting to get into Publix and Costco honestly not a big deal and I have been out a few weeks ago when it was 95 outside with my mask on for 30 minutes waiting to get in. Yes it sucks god what I would not give to go back to what it was like before but we cannot and most likely will not for the next 12-24 months.

30 minutes...

You kinda made my point.

And what will you do back at “the room” on your summer trips (don’t count on them happening) if they don’t allow full access to the facilities?

I’m not trying to argue...just pointing out there are a lot of unknowns and I for one wouldn’t go if I don’t know what those are. Not worth it...personal opinion.

And I’ll give you my number to call...but if you pass out from heat stroke I’ll leave a voicemail for you 😉

If we waited longer it is what it is.

They are not going to open the resorts and not have the pools open and they will.

They are going to open the resorts and the parks YES we will have things that need to follow yes is everyone going to like it NO. The bottom line they need to get folks back to work, they will have guests that will not come back until they can do things as Normal but will we honestly ever get back to normal (I hope so but you never know).

When we stay yes they will have the pools open will we have limited capacity sure, hell we were at Disney in March staying at AKL Jambo house and less than 10 people were in the pool and it was the 80's.

Disney knows what the plan is they are not ready to share it with folks yet my bet is they are waiting to see how Shangahi goes this week before they release plans for Florida we will see the parks and resorts open this summer.

And if they do open with a masks requirement, will that mean masks to be worn while swimming? If not, then doesn't that make a complete mockery of the mask requirement?

A bit different in the water plus that will be an issue with masks coming apart in the water and clogging up with filtration system and pumps.

Again some will be totally against anything that they do not like and will not accept change others will adapt the rest will good luck staying at home while other enjoy them selves.

For all those excited that the parks may be less crowded over this, I would not expect operations to be at the same efficiency. Less income and more budgeted elsewhere means less trains cycling, one station procedure when there are dual loading platforms. And you will likely be waiting in the elements a lot more before your turn etc...

not much different when waiting in 3 hour log lines when they are busy pretty sure folks know it's not gonna be fast paced moving I think most just want to get back to Disney for them it's a part get back to some sort of normal.

Question to those who voted “Yes”:
Have you thought about the other effects that mask policy would have? Such as... no water parks, no resort pools, limited Disney transportation, and limited/no recreational options?

Yes I have - and my answer right now is - "it all depends". I have a solo trip planned for September. I am planning on going. HOWEVER, I also will have no problem cancelling it if I would not feel comfortable. And I can't really say what that would be - it's mostly a gut feeling. If things are still as they are today, then I won't go.

I have been WFH since this started and last week our HR sent out a survey asking if we were willing to go back to work for phase 1 (end of May I think). I said no. I want to see where things are before I agree to head back to the office. I am the same way with WDW. This solo trip was going to be somewhat of a golfing holiday so I wouldn't be parks all day anyways. I also have been every year since 1997 so I don't need to see all attractions.

That said - I want to see what the environment is like. See how things are progressing. I need to see what the risk level is. I can't say what that is for September. I will balance risk with what is available with rules in force during my stay. If my cancellation deadline is 48 hours before departure, I will probably be making my go/no-go decision at T-48:01.

Add in the most likely closure of theater type attractions and probably water based rides and you will be greatly reducing park attraction capacity as well. So while there are less people there are less attractions and those that are open will have much lower hourly capacity if they really clean ride vehicles between use. It could end up being a lot of waiting around in social distanced lines in the sun in a mask. :(

Shanghai opened pirates and roaring rapids. So not sure we would see water based rides closed

People keep thinking this Shanghai experience will replicate what the WDW experience will be like. Chapek said this morning they are ramping up 5K people each week. These Shanghai reviews are lovely but three weeks from now it will likely look like a very different experience. These low crowds are to learn and adjust, while making the experience seem rather luxe with an empty park and provide great B-roll for news outlets. However, at 30% capacity, with all the distancing and reduction in OHRC on the attractions, it's going to look very different soon.

Pirates you don’t really get wet so should be OK. I was thinking Splash and Kali River more for WDW. I guess you just have guests take the mask off on the water rides. If you limit each ride vehicle to 1 family group it shouldn’t matter. Does Shanghai have pools at their resorts open? I would also think masks in a swimming pool wouldn’t work.
