The UK has some great theme parks. I don't think I could justify paying 10k just to go a theme park. I like Disney but for me staying at the Hotel Breakers on the beach at Cedar Point is almost as good.

Daaaang. I know It’s possible. I just never knew anyone personally who would sink so much into just a Disney vacation when you can easily enjoy a Disney vacation with just.. 2k. That’s insane. I can’t even comprehend that.

I get the whole out of country thing though.
2k wouldn't be worth visiting. When coming over the pond i wouldn't be interested in anything less than 3-4 and thats pushing it.

The deluxe WDW resorts in high season can be as high as $700 a night or even higher.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
Do you pay 100% for the others? When a family goes, the trip is usually paid out of one family budget.
We're just broke college kids that split everything. We can barely afford a 2k trip when we split it! LOL

Regular residents of the Seralago Hotel xD

Not for me. Grocery shopping under such conditions is stressful enough; I can’t imagine anything less magical than being at Disney and having to worry about masks, distancing, etc. I’m amazed that some people are saying they’d enjoy the modified experience more. That makes no sense to me, and I can’t help but think they wouldn’t feel this way in practice.
Nothing in the video deterred me from a Disney visit. If it's a choice of a mask and a little extra screening vs. no Disney, I'm taking Disney.

The real key for me will be what attractions are available. Otherwise, I'm more interested in figuring out how to safely do things I enjoy rather than staying at home doing nothing.
We are booked for July and this is exactly my thought and approach.

I'm fed up with people comparing Disney world to Shanghai. There is no comparison. People there are trained to wear masks. And I thought I read their health standards were excellent?
Trained? You're wearing a mask, not riding around the park on a unicycle. They've adjusted to it, but anyone can. I've been wearing one daily for a month now, in Houston, and I don't love it, but it's almost second nature now.

This! Forget your personal feelings on masks for a second, there’s no way this works logistically.
You make your reservation to get into the park and you forgot your mask? Do you get turned away? Ok, maybe.
Your 5 year old is eating a Dole Whip and the entire thing melts on their mask, do they get kicked out of the park now? Are there going to because members running around frantically redistributing masks? I doubt it.

LOL I did have to giggle at this because most mom's I know who go to wdw with little ones are UBER prepared. I once tripped and fell in MK, I swear 3 different mom's swooped in from different directions with wipes, bandaides and ointment.

I can't imagine any experienced Mom going to the world without 2 extra mask per kid. Have you seen some of the bag checks when a stroller goes through 😂

This is all new so of course there will be a learning curve

Dang.. I'd be buying me a new car with that money.

Lol different stages of life. You're right when your a broke college kid, your budget is different. Mine was especially when I was in grad school. Now I'm at the end of my work life, I've got arthritis so nope don't want a full bed, yes I need a king. Yes I need that balcony to have coffee on.

Lol I drive 45 miles each way to work so my 5k hoopdee that I had after college won't cut it.

I have been to WDW 10 times and I can modify my vacations as I feel while I am there each time. If I am not feeling to run around in the parks all day, I don't have to do that. I can go into the parks and do a ride or two, eat a lunch or dinner and go back to the resort for a relaxing evening at the pool. I also sometimes travel solo or on a sisters trip and my sister is one in the same with me. So, I would be fine to adjust with the restrictions and go with the flow as I feel I would enjoy just as much a relaxing Disney vacation at the resort and pool as much as a run around in the parks all day with a mask on vacation.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
The key word is "enjoy."

Can I take a Disney vacay for less than $5 K? Yes.

Will I enjoy it? No.
Yeah, way back when, we too made the 21-hour drive with two kids in the backseat, stayed on 192 and ate at Ponderosa every night. It’s what we could afford at the time and we made it work.

If we had to cut corners now, I would rather go every other other year, and continue to stay in a preferred room at CSR with standard DDP. Add in flights, rental car, souvenirs, CAD exchange, and we hit $10K pretty easily ... for two of us!
