As someone in school, I still see Disney favored over Universal. Universal is kind of like a side thought in most kids, at least in my area. My mom is a substitute teacher at an elementary school and this is the attitude she sees too.
Probably because you live farther away, so everyone idolizes that "dream Disney vacation"! Which, I can't blame them for, because when you live farther away it is a much larger burden to visit both Universal and Disney, and Disney is sort of a "right of passage" thing to do, since it has that strong nostalgia factor and currently offers more than UNI. I live in Florida, and pretty much everyone in my school likes Universal more than Disney, or likes both equally. We take field trips to both, day trips are easy and simple. Lots of us have APs to Universal, etc.

Not even close. ToT destroys everything in US. A little off topic, but am I the only one who thinks MIB makes Buzz look like the worst ride ever!?
HECK NO. It makes Buzz look like a carnival ride. And yes, TOT pretty much is unparalleled. Though Forbidden Journey and Radiator Springs Racers (haven't ridden it, but it looks amazing) give it a good run for it's money.

There's an MIB ride in Universal? Hmm...maybe I will have to go over there

Look at the masterpiece that it is.

It's easily one of my favorite attractions, and is so much fun. It's a "shooting" dark-ride themed to an exhibit about the universe at the World's Fair, but then you take a hidden elevator to the MIB secret HQ. The queue is awesome, and the realistic sets (besides the short first scene on the ride where you're practicing) absolutely destroy Buzz Lightyear.

I've heard that. I applied to UCF and the students were telling me that when I toured. There are people up here who prefer Universal, but most choose Disney. Is it just me, or do many people in Florida hate Disney? I tend to get that feeling from reading comments on Orlando Sentinel.

And grr. We aren't allowed to take field trips to amusement parks. We've gotten around that a few times to go to Hershey, but still. It has to be on a Saturday.

Not going to watch the video, don't want to ruin it for myself if I ever go. Won't be this year, but eventually.

Yep, good thing there's nothing lame at DHS!

...except the long-overstayed-their-welcome Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast shows.
...or the Backlot Tour of a non-functioning studio with a handful of old movie props and a major emphasis on the 2001 film Pearl Harbor.
...or the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground, a film no kid today has even heard of.
...or the "opened past the show's prime and is now waaay past it's prime" American Idol Experience which has always struggled to get people in the theater.
...or Lights, Motors, Action, a stunt show about car chases that somehow manages to be a total snooze.
...or the Animation Tour that isn't really a tour or much of anything besides some Meet & Greets.
...or Streets of America, which is a barren empty wasteland for 5/6ths of the year.
...or the shuttered and pointless former Sounds Dangerous location.
...or the laughably pathetic Captain Jack Sparrow attraction, which is still better than what it replaced.

Yep, nothing but pure quality at DHS!
I totally agree that Indiana Jones and Voyage are long overdue to go, but the B and B is still very enjoyable.
The backlot tour needs a major overhaul except for Catastrophe Canyon, if it's still around (?)
HISTKs should have been gone a good while ago.
American Idol should never have been added.
Lights, Motors, Action is a show that I still enjoy.
Animation Tour's enjoyment increases exponentially if you stop and take the time to take the drawing "class" with the animator.
Streets of America has always been pretty much pointless.
Sounds should have been kept open and so should of the attraction where visitors participated in filming TV show clips. One visit I got to play Al from "Tool Time" and another I got to play the Skipper from "Gilligan's Island". The sound show at the time was the participation of visitors in adding sound effects to match a "horror" movie. Both attractions were awesome.
Haven't seen JS yet, but remember, you are talking about the all-powerful Johnny Depp who obviously has replaced The Mouse at WDW.

Meh, I think the forty year old Frontierland Shooting Gallery already makes Buzz look the worst ride ever.

Why, I think Carnival for the Atari makes Buzz look bad!

Most of the locals here had the whole disney experience many times as a child and many of them prefer the thrills that ioa has to offer in the park the hulk, dueling dragons, and now harry potter land is a huge hit amongst everyone. If anything I feel that Ioa is the destination for everyone around here, I know to many people willing to pay to go to Ioa and say they would never go to disney again unless it was cheaper or if someone gave em tickets even though the prices are more or less the same now.

Agreed, luckily you don't have to take the "tour" to do the drawing class.
I LOVE the shooting gallery! I just have never understood the love for buzz. I personally think the ride stinks.
And agree here as well. Even Astro Blasters at DL is 10 times better than Buzz at MK. Buzz might have a chance if they gave it an overhaul to be like Astro Blasters, and let you actually hold the gun, but as it is right now, the vehicles don't stay "aimed" where you stop them, the guns don't work that well and your shots don't even register half the time, you can never really tell if you actually hit the target because most of the target don't activate anything... and it just feels so run down and tired.

It's actually much better than it looks in the video!

MIB is far and away the best shooting ride in Orlando.

If you don't experience UNI at some point just because you like Disney, you are really missing out. That is like the argument where people say they're not going to visit Paris because they've been to the France pavilion at WS. Why can't we like both? The answer is we can. But at this point in time, if I HAD to pick DHS or US, I'd still go with US. Now, toss ToT, RnRC and ST2 into US ... bam!!

Ah. I've had the Disney experience many times as a child and can't say I've ever gotten sick of it, but to each his own. Plus I've never been to Universal. I'm not a Harry Potter fan, so that section just doesn't appeal to me, though I'm sure it could be fun anyway. A lot of what I read on Orlando Sentinel talks about what a big bad guy Disney apparently is. Which I find ironic considering how Disney supports their economy and provides jobs. Who knows, Florida might not have even become a travel destination had it not been for Disney.

Florida was, indeed, a place people visited long before Disney.

And, no, not everyone hates Disney. Most don't care any more about Disney than other people who live near other tourist attractions or amusement parks. Some are way too cool for Disney and very vocal about it. Some are big fans. It's a mixed bag.
