Maelstorm is my favorite ride in WS. I have to ride at least 2 times. It's nothing fancy but I still love it. I also love the movie at the end and the little village that you end up in. Very nice........... WS is my favorite place to be in the "world".

you asked a bunch of disney dorks if WS is worth it? of course we're going to say yes! but seriously WS is a great place to take it a little easy and really explore all of the countries and take in all that Disney has to offer.

World Showcase

My wife and I just returned from a trip to DW about a month ago. We spent ten (10) hours walking around WS. We spent quality time in each of the countries. The American Adventure, of course, from the Voices of Liberty to the fife and drum. We loved the mariachi singers in Mexico. Of course France. After Impressions de France, we stopped in and each had a small piece of pastry and coffee and watched the world go by. We were entertained by the drums in Japan, and the comedy in Italy. Go to World Showcase! By all means go to World Showcase!

WS is everything that Disney is all about. It basically is "It's a Small World" imagined in real life. Where else could you walk through 10+ cultures in a matter of hours. If you really want the experience, we go to Food and Wine festival every year, for our anniversary, and you can get small tastes of all the countries. Believe it or not, it is not that expensive to try, but you can get try a huge assortment of culturally different foods. Very cool.:hurl:

Of course it's worth it!

WS is one of the most immersive and entertaining environments Disney has ever created!

You have 11 countries all within walking distance,2 great boat rides,a FANTASTIC AA show, and several amazing circlevision 360 movies.Along with that comes IllumiNations, one of the most amazing firework/laser/light/water shows ever.

And don't forget the food!:D:slurp:
Agree, it is not about the "rides"............it is about the experience. WS is my favorite part of WDW. I see something new and interesting each time we go. Take your time ,explore, sit watch and experience a very unique piece of WDW.

 Are you kidding me!! World Showcase is the main thing about Epcot. Without it, it won't be Epcot. Without World Showcase we won't have great food from all of the countries, have great entertainment while we are walking or sitting around in the heat, have entertainment for the kids at Kidcot, have two rides that you love and never forget about, and walking around and seeing all of the interesting buildings.Oh yeah who doesn't love Illuminations: Reflection of Earth.
I love World Showcase. :)

remember the question was "are some of the rides in the world showcase worth it?"

. . . upsetting as that question may be to some of you.

that can only mean "is it worth my time to go to the world showcase in order to ride the rides there, or is my ride time better spent somewhere else where I can find better rides?"

some of you seem to have forgotten what it is like to be a "theme park thrill seeker."

The rides in Mexico and Norway can be missed, but the World Showcase cannot. There are great shops, great shows, great food, and great sites to see. The Mexico ride is nice and relaxing and the Norway ride is simple but fun. BUT the World Showcase should never be missed.:)

And like I said, the two rides are great classic Disney Dark Rides.:)

Back in `87 on my first EPCOT visit I dreaded the second day when my parents wanted to do WS. How wrong I was! From the first step I took into Mexico the detail, theming - everything - blew me away.

As mentioned above, both rides (Mexico & Norway) are great, not PotC or Test Track scale but great, The American Adventure is still the most ambitious multi media presentation Disney have ever done, and Chinas, Canadas and Frances films have the most beautiful music and gorgeous cinematography you`ve ever seen.

Basically if you havn`t done them, do them!

Last December the entire Dream Team, head guy and all, were waiting at the exit for the Maelstom ride.
They were to pick the second person getting off the boat that arrived at 11:41 or soonest thereafter.

We were too early.
Don't know what the prize was but the whole Dream Team was there for it.

I noticed the ride question too...and I'm one who's big on the rides. I haven't spent much time in WS...but I enjoy the few rides that are in WS. They are entertaining. Are they as entertaining as Soarin or Test Track...probably not...as Martin stated. But, it interesting to see how each country is represented.

Also, I know you talked about rides, but the American Adventure is a really amazing AA show. It talks about the history of America and can really bring a tear to ones eye. Also, the new updated Canada film is entertaining.

(Now for my cheap shameless plug...:lookaroun Check out www.beourguestpodcast.com . We just did an episode talking all about WS. It's a good overview and if WS sounds interesting to you from the episode, then you'll probably like it. The episode number is 23. If it doesn't sound like your cup of tea...don't bother with WS. You can find other things to do on property. )

Hope you have a wonderful trip with or without enjoying World Showcase!

world showcase could/ should be a park by itself.its brilliant, very immersive great to sample the countries food and traditions. skip the epcot bit and head for world show case.

I'm glad WS isn't its own Park. Personally I am more of a ride person when it comes to disney, so I doubt I would go to WS as much if it were its own park. But having it there with the big rides at Epcot makes it great. For a peaceful stroll in an amazingly themed Environment WS is great. The two rides are pretty relaxing, and well themed. It is also interesting to see who is performing at the America Gardens Theatre when you go:p
