World of Color

So along with that "Brave" addition to World of Color, it seems that a few day time shows will also happen called "Melody Time." Starting on you guessed it June 15th at 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2:45pm and 3:45pm all are 5 mins.

And again with my elephant-like memory I thought... "Where did I hear about that before?... Oh, yeah!"

Al Lutz mentioned this concept about six weeks ago in an early April update on Miceage...

But the planners in the Entertainment department are also looking at making some tweaks to existing offerings for this summer. One option is to attempt to use the World of Color fountains in the afternoon again, but with a gaggle of Disney characters dancing and greeting with guests in the amphitheater area instead of that unloved Disney Channel Rocks show that was canned last year.

Set to “Brave” composer Patrick Doyle’s stirring Scottish score, the sequence introduces us to the film’s adventurous heroine Merida, as she races across the Scottish Highlands, bow and arrow in hand, on her faithful horse Angus, and follows the mysterious will o’ the wisps on an epic journey to change her fate.

“Brave” opens in theaters June 22, but you’ll be able to catch the “Brave”-inspired sequence in “World of Color” starting June 15.

Something new called "Maestro Goofy Conducts the Fountains" is debuting on June 15 at Paradise Bay. Daytime fountain show of some sort. Fun!

Brave addition-
Currently testing it can be seen every now and then on the MatterCam.

An update on the new Brave scene (from Steve Davison's Facebook page)
Wrapped the new BRAVE segment for World of Color last night. Long week of programming!
It's a very fun sequence! Look for it next month when it premieres! My favorite part of it is the last 20 seconds, it makes me laugh every time I see it. The bears expression is priceless! Thanks PIXAR for all your help on this one!

Steve also mentioned that they are working on a brand new Tangled segment:

We have special plans for Tangled that will include some new effects that we are working on. I love Tangled. It will find its way into WOC in the near future.

So along with the Brave addition and the daytime shows another item seems to be on its way to WOC, "glow with the show" in that a pair of light up ear hats will interact with certain parts of the show.

WOC Dinning
Also some dinning changes Ariel's Grotto will no longer offer WOC dinning packages instead Carthay Circle Restaurant will and Ariel's Grotto now be a full time princess dinning location.

“World of Color” dining packages will no longer be offered at Ariel’s Grotto after June 14, 2012, but guests may still enjoy “World of Color” package options at other park locations to receive a ticket for access to the “World of Color” Viewing Area.

Diners at Carthay Circle Restaurant can also enjoy reserved center stage viewing at the World of Color nighttime spectacular

Glow with the Show
I was watching a live stream earlier it was really cool great use of tech, I'm guessing it's RDIF. The Glow with the Show ears also work at Mad T Party. It would be cool to see it implemented on Fantasmic! and Magical. Remember doesn't seem to lend itself to such a thing.

Brave addition,

Both videos by Disneygeek.com

Great additions to a great show, Tron and Prep and Landing are still my favorite additions to the show.

Another video of the new Brave scene from Inside the Magic, really love the fountain choreography and they use some really beautiful laser images as well

LOVE the new Brave segment. Read some comments earlier about it being too long and that it made the pacing of the show come to a halt, but I didn't think that at all.

The 4th of July pre-show is returning again this year.
July 4th is just around the corner, and if you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate America’s independence with your family, check out these special nighttime spectaculars showing at the Disneyland Resort from July 1-4:
  • At Disney California Adventure park, immediately prior to each “World of Color” performance, Paradise Pierwill come to life with a patriotic spectacular in honor of our nation’s independence.
  • At Disneyland park, “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” will celebrate the land of the free and the home of the brave with patriotic music and colorful fireworks.

I looked through a lot of this thread, and could not find any reference to answer this question. Maybe someone here could oblige? What is the reasoning for the SRO for this show? I understand that more people can jam in to see the show, but it really limits the number of children that can view the show reasonably well or at all. There seems to be no clear way for everyone to see the show who is standing there. For example, we got Fastpasses in the yellow section, but we may as well have been inside the Ariel ride show building with the view that we had, especially the kids. We arrived early, but clearly not early enough. We actually bailed half way through after my oldest daughter (10 years old) said "I can't see anything here, let's go ride some rides."

We are still returning from our recent trip (long road trip) where we had an excellent time. This is the only attraction where we felt like Disney had left a lot to be desired. There must be a way to offer up a children's or families viewing area where grown adults are not standing in front of small kids. Am I missing something here?
