I dunno....A pyro-less finale would be kinda meh. It's so quintisentially Disney, it's needed!

Perhaps they will do some low level. Or why not just launch some hi levels, from the back of the park?:lookaroun

No, what's needed is you going to Disneyland.
 :p

Seriously, once you've spent time in Disneyland you know that they can do anything without Pyro. Some of the best parts of Remember don't even have it.

And it makes me so proud and excited to see this show that tosses out all the conventional rules and uses amazing technology to evoke emotions and create spectacle unseen until now.

If you've ever looked in awe at Haunted Mansion Holiday or Remember Dreams Come True in person for that magical first time, you'll know it can only mean AMAZING THINGS to hear Steve Davison be THAT excited.

:D

What's sad/cool is that Walt Disney World is a great place to go, it just doesn't have that magic. Now it's just painfully more clear than usual.

WDW has great things, but Disneyland is where great things come to life.

RDCT uses pyro for EVERYTHING.:lookaroun:lol:

some more interesting tidbits from Mouseplanet's most recent update:

Steven Davison calls "World of Color" the "biggest show of my career," and says the show has been in development since 2004. Davison, who was also responsible for DCA's short-lived "Luminaria" show, said that show provided the foundation for "World of Color." Chuck Davis said that one of the biggest lessons from Luminaria was learning to work with the scale of the Paradise Pier area as a whole, taking into account the huge structures that surround the lagoon.

So, what about that giant fountain in the middle of the terraced viewing area? Davison says that the fountain can be an interactive "living character." Davison and Wiseman also confirmed that the World of Color show can be updated and expanded, and said that holiday and Halloween shows are already in the works.

Bob Weiss, Executive Vice President Creative at Walt Disney Imagineering, says World of Color is a first taste of the new DCA bringing "more Walt, more inspiration, more storytelling" to the park.

wow.. so they pretty much confirmed that we will be getting different shows for the holidays :sohappy: that's incredible - the possibilities are endless.. can't wait to see what they come up with!

wow... this has made me double excited about my trip to DL in 2011.

It would be interesting to see if they also added this to wdw in 2011 for the big 40th birthday. The construction timeline would almost match DCA's if the started work as soon as the DCA was open and opened it in october 2011. just a thought.

Where would they put World of Color in WDW?

even though i hate to admit it i reckon they may be killing fantasmic at wdw. the excuse for the current knockdown to 3 days is cos its to expensive and this would cut out all there character equity and pyro costs, and thats alot of money saved, plus DHS really needs something new at night to pull in the crowds :lookaroun

7 Seas Lagoon?:lookaroun:lol:

While I admire your enthusiasm, I'm afraid they need to find a theme park to put this type of show in. The costs and capital outlay would have to be inserted into a theme park capital request budget to justify it all.

Otherwise, you aren't making any money off the thing.

Put a massive and expensive show like World of Color into the Seven Seas Lagoon, and all you'll be doing is not only pulling people out of the parks in the evening to see it, but you'll also prevent people from buying tickets into the parks in the first place. Sure people would show up to see it, but all you would get from them would be the cost of parking at the TTC or one of the lagoon Deluxe Resorts.

The Poly and Grand would be flooded with people from the the All-Stars and Moderate Resorts swarming the grounds to stake out a spot to watch the show from. Or worse yet, you'd get people staying off property flooding into the Deluxe Resorts each night to see the show. And then there would be the locals driving over with the family and setting up blankets and picnic baskets to see it for free. Why pay for a ticket to DHS or Epcot to see the lagoon shows there, when the mother of all water shows was playing for virtually free in the Seven Seas Lagoon?

World of Color has to go in a theme park, and it has to be a theme park with a huge body of water.

Talk about a buzz kill.

No, we don't get it.

Until they march back in and give us original ideas and clean our place up I vote they stop pitying us and carbon-coping excellent attractions from parks they care about.

I'm all for cloning, but not until I know they care at all. Which right now they don't. It's insulting.

At this point they are just teaching us a lesson, which is:

Go to Disneyland or Tokyo Disneyland.

Hmmmm...Mad WDW fans need to go to Disneyland to Relax. Maybe the reason they've stopped expanding Disney World is so they can start mass producing Mad WDW fans to increase revenue for all the other parks. By abandoning WDW, which takes lots of money, they can leave it to the tourists-Driving away those pesky complainers to Disneyland, which is already full of them...

CONSPIRACY!

D23 has brand new info about WoC - an interview with the creative team:

see the full interview here http://d23.disney.go.com/articles/72109_NF_BN_InsideWofC.html

Some of the highlights from the interview -

Q: Steven, how does this show compared to the other shows you've done with Disney?
Steven: This will be the biggest show of my career. In scale, it's huge! It really is. This is the biggest entertainment undertaking that we've ever done in entertainment. It's bigger than Epcot. It's bigger than anything we've done in Tokyo. It's bigger than any fireworks show we've ever done. So the company is really behind it.

Steven: To be honest, I think we can bring Luminaria back. I was listening to the track the other day and thinking if you put Luminaria into the World of Color infrastructure, it would do everything it ever wanted to do and more. I'm not saying we are doing that, but we could.

OMG at Luminaria possibly coming back in a new form. I'm in love with the soundtrack hehe.

Q: It seems like you've built World of Color so that you can revamp the show down the road as Disney adds movies and new content. Is that accurate?
Steven: Yes. Incredibly, we made everything very software receivable, so that when… [a new movie] comes out, we can seamlessly put it into the show very quickly. We are going to have World of Color keep changing over time. So if you come throughout the year, we will be putting new things into it as we go on. We're also going to do specialty shows. We will do a holiday show and probably a Halloween show. World of Color is as endless as your imagination. We have some great ideas for Christmas that will surprise everybody that will totally do new things.
