World Of Color in WDW?

Still think AK would be the best place for it. Epcot would also work if they wanted to replace Illuminations.

It can't be installed in a natural body of water. Therefore Epcot is out and unless the built a new land with an artificial lake at DAK it is not going there either. Hmm, a theme park at WDW with an artificial lake. Does such a thing even exist? :veryconfu

The big issue with AK hosting a show like this is the lack of space around the water for a viewing area. The park is not at all setup with wide open space for viewing areas and clear sight-lines - it is very much the opposite.

I think I read in the Unofficial Guide that there were rumors the show would be on the water in front of Expedition Everest...

Well if you built a custom Fantasmic type show area somewhere in the park rather than in the existing water areas I think it coudl work.

In my opinion, the best area for this type of show would be behind Kali River Rapids and Marajah Jungle Trek in the Animal Kingdom. It definitely needs to be on a man made body of water, presumably with a solid bottom. The huge area of land in the Animal Kingdom would be large enough for this type of show, and because of it being a nighttime show, the long queue and exit would be reasonable.

In this article I had my guess as to how this land could be used.

World of Color (the show itself, not the effects) doesnt fit in with the Epcot theme anyway. So Im not sure why so many keep saying its a good fit for Epcot its not. But some of the effects would be welcome.

I saw the show last month and the best part was the Tron takeover at the end of the show. The features were great but the show itself (minus Tron) was merely "meh"... It seemed to miss one component that made it an explosive show. I would like to see the technology incorporated on the East Coast but I wouldn't advocate replicating the show itself.

Agreed. The show is beautiful effects wise, but as far as presentation goes its a little underwhelming. To me it felt more like a Disney''s greatest hits montage and borrowed a few too many elements from Fantasmic. And WAY too much movie clips on mist screens.

why do we have to squeeze things into parks??
i got an amazing idea for where to put WOC. we could build a whole new land in DAK baced on mythical creatures and have WOC in the center of the land for a night time spectacular about mythical creatures. O wait...

They could downsize it and put it in Echo Lake... ;)

Actually this would be great IMO. Something on the scale of the fountains at Epcot but much better.

EPCOT's lake is not a natural lake. It and cresent lake and the water way to the studios were all man made. Unless you mean big swimming pool when you say artificial lake. There is no reason why they couldn't place it there. A lot harder to drain I would imagine, but not impossible. After all, they drained and dredged Bay Lake when they were building the Magic Kingdom way back in the sixties. That's where all the nice sandy beaches white sand came from along Seven Seas Lagoon which is also man made, or do you consider that an artificial lake?

World Showcase Lagoon is a man made body of Water. It can be drained.

Epcot's body of water was man made wasn't? I've seen construction photos with an empty lake.
Do you mean thatit must have a concrete bottom then?

Sorry to confuse everyone on the what I meant. I understand that places like SSL are created but it is now a natural body of water. It has fish and plant life. WS Lagoon and DAK's lake and waterways are the same way. My understanding is the WoC technology will not work in these type environments.

They shouldn't be confused with places like the Bellagio lake, the former 20K lagoon, Echo Lake and the lake where the current WoC show is at DCA. These have cement linings and the water is treated in some way to keep them from being overwhelmed by algae. They are not natural but rather elaborate swimming pools in a sense.

I am not sure if the Fantasmic venue at DHS is cement lined and the water is treated or not but I have always thought it is a possibilty for a WoC type show.

fantasmic is in a contained pool , but it looks like there is a cannal connecting it to the water in front of DHS and around boardwalk , beach/yacht club, but it is cement lined you can see it on google earth (or that cannal could be blocked off, but trees are covering it, so you cant see the wall on google earth, but water color looks different)

I have always assumed the water was treated in some way. It seems it would be rather easy to seperate it completely from the canal and install all the necessary treatment facilities if they decided to add a WoC show. Time will tell. Personally I think it would be a great addition.

Do I tell folks that WoC isn't coming to WDW ... and most certainly would NOT ever be coming to DAK?

Nah ...

For that matter, Seven Seas Lagoon is man made. I am not sure if Bay Lake is man made.
I thought Seven Seas Lagoon is a natural body of water that was just dredged for the construction of the MK and MK resorts. I know for a fact Bay Lake is a natural body and was there prior to WDW arrival.

No, go ahead, please tell us. No World of Color for WDW?!?

He also told NOTHING was coming to the MK about two years ago. A couple months later, if that, the FLE plans leaked.

He also said all the props from the AC were shipped to Hong Kong. But since that announcement those props have been showing up everywhere but Hong Kong.

So consider the source.

I don't think so, the monorail spiel always (used to at least) say "We are circling the Disney created Seven Seas Lagoon"

At the time, I was correct. Things change. ... but you know that, your online bulge is showing again, JT.:eek::eek:

TDO did NOT want to go forward with the F-land project at all, but it was largely forced on them. You have a great habit of focusing on one little shrub, while totally missing the forest. Your AC example would be a perfect showcase.

I never said all the props from AC were shipped to HK. Some were. And, as far as I know, NOT one has showed up elsewhere and, if it did, my response would be 'big deal?'

You really just insist on following me around online in a very unhealthy way.

And WoC isn't coming to WDW. And that is extremely unlikely to ever change.

I remember hearing a wild rumor that a WoC type show was coming to replace Fantasmic. I seriously doubt that would happen, but it could potentially. That would solve the lack of seating problem...

There are more crazy rumors out there than there are crappy reality TV shows or Taco Bells.

But Disney has no intention of bringing WoC to FLA (or anywhere) at this time.

What you may very well see would be some WoC elements added if they ever tinker with Fantasmic, since that's exactly what Disney is doing with the new show opening this month (hopefully!) in Tokyo.
