World Of Color in WDW?

This seems to be a running theme the last few years....

Take a look at what is happening at the WDW parks (please leave out new timeshares) and compare it with what is going on inside every other Disney resort's parks ... what is (or isn't) happening speaks for itself.

True - aside from the forced FLE, we have exciting projects like a boarded up Main Street and scaffolding on Tower of Terror. Which - don't get me wrong - is important for upkeep and maintenance, but is the extent of focus here.

Read Al Lutz's column today on what is coming to DLR just THIS SUMMER ... not including all those MAGICal construction walls for the future.

The fact that WDW fans here (and elsewhere) are going back and forth about interactive queues and which hotel is next for the DVC treatment tells the tale.

BTW, folks here seem unaware that Shanghai DL will (FINALLY) get underway this Friday ... or that DCL announced (somewhat surprisingly) that it will sail from Galveston's Port for 12 weeks starting in 9/12. But those are the BIG stories (HUGE really) in the Disney P&R universe (I know this because I have my first Shanghai DL tee on the way!:))

The interactive queues are cool enough to walk through. But many of us know that its only a matter of time until they break - and then good luck getting them fixed...

Yeah, but it's not like they got a "new" fireworks show, Captain EO or the Main Street Electrical Parade last summer.

I've gone to Disneyland 3 of the last 4 years, and I'm heading there for the D23 Expo in August. There have been substantial additions for each of my Disneyland trips, and this year will be no exception. Last year I missed the World of Color debut by a week or so... add in Little Mermaid and Star Tours 2.0 and there are 3 substantial additions for me since my trip last May. I'm sure I'll also see the new Soundsational parade, take a ride on Goofy's Sky School (although I'm of the opinion that this probably should have gone the way of the Maliboomer) and check out the enhancements to Snow White's Scary Adventures.

It's more affordable for me to go to WDW, but I'll gladly forego 2 weeks in Disney World once a year if it means 1 week in Disneyland.

I never said all the props from AC were shipped to HK. Some were. And, as far as I know, NOT one has showed up elsewhere and, if it did, my response would be 'big deal?'

See, I would think your response would be to admit you were wrong. Oh wait, nevermind.

Try the vinylmation store at WDW's DTD to see some AC props. It is being reported that some props will be in the new facility going in at the Disneyland hotel pool area. The new project that appears to be getting left over parts from the Hawaii DVC project.

For someone that presents himself as having insider knowledge you really are out of the loop sometimes.

Yes, but DLR is in SoCal ... it can be scary for people. And what if they ... if they ... I can barely even say it ... have to stay OFF-PROPERTY ... it's real Anaheim ... and those freeways ... who wants to rent a car when on vacation when they can take a MAGICal bus standing body-to-body with smelly folks :drevil:.

I do think any Disney fan who has done WDW multiple times and doesn't go to DLR is ... nuts!

What's keeping my love for Disney parks alive isn't anything in O-Town ... it's being lucky enough to have been to all the others in the last year and take a DCL voyage.:)

Yeah, I read Al Lutz's column this afternoon and I was really impressed with everything they've got coming to Anaheim six weeks from now. And yet not a DVC unit or Landry's restaurant in sight, it's all just major attractions (plural) with accompanying new shops and restaurants and a brand new custom parade as the cherry on top.

It's really exciting, and this summer will be HUGE for them. Of course, Disneyland is just a little locals park.

JT, I am more than happy to admit I'm wrong ... when I actually am.

I've been inside. Again, they have what (since this is so important to you I'm sure you have an EXACT count) 2 or 3 items that were in the AC? How does that prove me wrong when I know for a fact items were sent to HKDL?

And the fact the Disney Blog reported that Trader Sam's is going to have some interactive items that may remind people of the AC (they'd have to have actually been there) does NOT mean those items are from the AC. Inspired by? Similar? Sure.

Again, I don't get your point here other than to yet again play with me for all to see and be amused by ... just because I have inside knowledge of many things (as do 3-4 others here) doesn't mean I am aware of anything and everything that happens at WDW ... let alone to a handful of props (out of hundreds) from a defunct club.

That's just dumb, JT. What I'd expect.

WDW funded DLR's fix. They need to make it work because they are cut off from now on. Unless they pay for it themselves.

Meanwhile WDW can now resume plussing its four theme parks and two water parks and all of the resorts......... I could go on and on.

Yeah, funny how all the resorts but WDW are just places for 'locals' so they have to be good.

WDW just attracts people once (and with its current quality, who can blame them for not coming back?:ROFLOL:) or once in five years, so they don't have to be concerned with quality or freshness.

No, it didn't make sense when I was writing it either ... it makes even less sense when you look at those 25,000 hotels and timeshares ... and the fact WDW has APers from Alaska to Austria.

Do you just pull crap like that from your ?

Do you get paid to stir the put?

And have you even set foot in a Disney park in your life?

You are a hoot, JT ... I'll give you that.

this was an idea i had i mentioned in another thread...

In terms of where something like World of Colour could go, id love to see it at Animal Kingdom. it seems a perfect fit because it uses no fireworks not much pyro etc etc... it would just seem to fit the theme better.

in terms of placing... ive looked on google maps. there's a space just behind The Rainforest Cafe... what if the possibility of Beastly Kingdom came and replaced Camp Minnie & Mickey (finally) and then something like World of Colour was integrated into that land?

The great thing about having it in the space ive mentioned is that its right near entrance/exit of the park, so after the show ends people wont be ploughing right through the park to get to the exit. they're already pretty much at the car parks. :animwink:

exactly what i said LOL:ROFLOL:
"why do we have to squeeze things into parks??
i got an amazing idea for where to put WOC. we could build a whole new land in DAK baced on mythical creatures and have WOC in the center of the land for a night time spectacular about mythical creatures. O wait..."

Yah his would prob be the best situation for a show like WoC to come to WDW
not to mention it would fix allot of the probs with Ak and make it a full day park!

DLR has more attractions than Magic Kingdom, but WDW has 4 parks to spread it out. The reason CA is getting a lot right now is because DCA was so horrible, and it needs to be completely re-imagined. Some of the rides were actual fair rides. The theming and everything was haphazard, and it showed. Now, they are doing it better.

I am a diehard WDW fan and grew up in FL. My husband and his family are from SoCal though. I just went to DLR for the first time last year, and I think everyone should go there. It's different, and it is hard to say one is completely better than the other. There are better things about each park. But Disneyland does have more attractions in their main park than MK, and they have a lot of the classics still that WDW never got. (Of course, their castle is tiny because everything in CA is compressed.) Fantasyland is definitely worth the trip IMHO. Small World is gorgeous.

I haven't seen WOC, but an evening show at AK would be fun. I love AK. I am not a huge fan of the Epcot fireworks...not crazy about the floating ball. I love Fantasmic...I hope they don't replace that because then DLR would have Fantasmic and WOC, and that just wouldn't be fair.
