Trip Report World’s best uncle - a different kind of Loco trip.

Season 1 Nbc GIF by The Office

This trip was quite the change of pace for us!

Here’s our main cast. Loco, A, and our niece C.
C06B7883-4036-4283-AFB3-61F5899BC304.jpeg

C is 10 years old. For a little back ground, when C was a baby up until she was almost eight she lived across the street from us. Needless to say we were quite close getting to see her every day. Unfortunately after her parents split up, they sold the house and she lives about 30 minutes from us now. Not far, but we don’t get to see her nearly as often as we once did. We were all three excited to get to spend so much time together again on this trip. I was interested to see how she would handle Disney. She’s at that time where she’s kind of in between being a kid and a big kid. Anyways many of you read the pre trip and updates, so let’s get down to business!

Day 1
Our last several trips we’ve taken a road trip and driven the entire way through the night. While this can be exhausting, it makes for a much faster and easier drive than trying to do it during the day. We would use this same tactic for this trip, hoping that C would be able to sleep for much of the trip. I stayed up super late and was able to sleep until nearly noon on the day of our departure in preparation for my long drive.

We picked up C around 5:30 that evening and were on our way!

We made a stop about an hour in for some Chick-fil-A and potty break at target(the CFA was so full it was easier to go into the target next door).

Soon we settled in on our journey across the gulf states. Fortunately C and A both fell asleep around 10 PM and I was able to push through most of Mississippi without stopping. We reached our halfway point at around 2 AM! It was a much needed break to stretch my legs for a bit.

The drive across the Florida panhandle is easily the worst/most boring part of the trip for me. Thankfully A was awake from her nap and kept me company during that long stretch of desolate highway. Shortly after sunup we made it to our next longer break in Live Oak, FL at the Busy Bee, a store similar to a buc-cees without as much fanfare(and higher prices). C had done a great job of sleeping through most of the night, only waking up for the occasional bathroom break.

After our morning stop we were almost there. C’s excitement only grew as we approached the welcome sign!

A wanted to take a look at the character warehouse store, so we headed over to the outlets first. I’d never visited the outlet mall, and having visited them once, I think I’m good for another 20 years or so!

C found some ears she liked for only $7 though, so that was at least something.

Some food court pizza for C’s lunch. I had a chicken sandwich from somewhere that I don’t remember.

We stopped by OKW on our way to the boardwalk to pick up our magic bands. We’d added a night at boardwalk last minute, so the bands were already at OKW. We were able to pick them up without any issues.

We finally decided to head to boardwalk and maybe grab some pool time.

Our room ready text arrived right as we drove by this sign!

Day three.

After DAK we napped at the hotel before hitting the pool. C made a friend at the pool and they spent several hours playing in the pool and sliding down the slide. We spent more time at the pool than originally planned, but C was having a lot of fun so we just rolled with it.

We grabbed some food from the QS counter before finally heading back to our room and out to Epcot for the evening.

C was feeling a little silly.

I did not get to enjoy the topiaries as much as our previous spring trips, but we managed to get pics with a few.

The Toy Story one is always a favorite.

We had no real plans other than to catch the fireworks and grab a few attractions. C’s number one request was figment, so that was our first stop.

There was time for one more quick ride before we needed to grab a spot for the fireworks. Grand fiesta tour had no wait and was on WS, so it was an easy choice!

Day three.

We found a spot between Norway and China about 15 minutes before showtime.

Hello Disney duck!

Epcot forever is by no means my favorite show, but man am I glad to see harmonious gone!

C was impressed with the pyro, even if she didn’t know any of the songs!

A snuck these pictures without us knowing. I’m glad she did!

The fireworks were a hit. It was nice to have an evening of C just being a kid again.

We did have one more ride we wanted to do. We queued up for frozen right after fireworks ended(this was an extended evening hours night for deluxe resorts). We had a bit of a wait, maybe 20 minutes.

I “forgot” to tell C about the drop!

After Frozen C was out of gas thanks to her short nap and long pool afternoon. I had a virtual queue for guardians, but sadly we would not get to use it this night. We made our way to the bus stop and were showered and in bed by 11.

C is really into drawing things, so this was right up her alley.

There was a photopass photographer roaming around Al Harambe when we returned. She was very fun. Apparently C was not impressed! 😂

It was getting pretty hot, so we decided to head out, but not before stopping for plenty of pictures.

If you don’t get a tree picture, did you really even visit DAK?

The TR title is pretty accurate. Loving this one! You can see the joy in C's eyes over and over. A's drawing was better than the instructor. You guys rock on a regular TR but this has all the feels! Great job!!

Day four.

The day C had most anticipated. MK day!

We made it just in time for early entry. They dropped the rope as we were approaching the bridge to Tomorrowland.

They didn’t do very good. A claims her shooter was broken.

I did ok, which is pretty good for me. I’m not great at the shooting rides.

C kept busy in the queue by gathering up germs.

They shoved all three of us in one row. Poor C! Thank goodness she’s so small! 🤣

After Pooh it was time to head under the sea.

No shoving three in a clam shell! Our ride stopped quite a few times.

Not so much for C!

I must admit. We purchased genie plus this day. We wouldn’t dream of doing such a thing with just two of us, but since this was a special trip for C I splurged this one day. Anyways our first LL of the day was for jungle cruise.

So. Many. Dad jokes.
0641476C-1BEF-48EA-B412-8FA29C883DCD.jpeg

C actually really enjoyed it. She has a very cheesy sense of humor and laughed at most of the jokes.

Pirates had a short queue so we headed there next. C played with some of the genie photo filters while we waited.
3DE34382-E3BA-4B83-854A-47B0F4C5FAC3.jpeg

We waited maybe ten minutes for pirates. Another hit with C. I’m sure these people enjoyed it as well. I wonder where our ride photo is?

Crowds were already getting a bit heavy and it was getting warm, so we headed for the tiki room for some A/C. C’s favorite filter while we waited for the doors to open.

Day four.

After the tiki birds it was time for a snack. Much to my chagrin my beloved citrus swirl wasn’t showing up on the mobile order menu(curse you broken machine)! I would have to settle for an inferior dole whip product instead.

Plain dole whip for C.
4F9CF8CF-FF8A-4A3D-A851-3C3FE58C4A8A.jpeg

Tropical serenade for A and I. This is definitely my favorite non citrus swirl treat at MK.

After our snack it was time for the one and only original country bear jamboree!

C got a kick out of our singing and clapping along.

After the show C wanted to do some shopping. We found a friend along the way.
C342D0BA-261C-4820-9504-FE5DA17522C8.jpeg

This is the day she found her new favorite thing. Pin trading! There was a great Cm in the pin trading store who helped C find a nice pack of pins and a lanyard. She’d been waiting to buy anything until this day because this was the day the AP discount went up to 30%.

It's quite possible we were at the same place at the same time unless Liver Lips does that every day. I know we were crossing paths! The Pirates photo made me laugh not only because it's not yours, but the little boy that's pointing to the camera. C is just priceless with her new pins!

Day four.

We had a LL for big thunder that we used after the parade. C declared this her favorite rollercoaster, not that that’s saying much.

We each had kids meals from Pinocchio’s Village Haus for lunch. Probably one of the better meal deals at MK. Apparently we were joined by a mandolorian.

We had a LL for the next princess M&G that started in about five minutes. The girls grabbed some pics with cinderella’s carriage while we waited.

While all of the princesses were great, I think C’s interaction with Rapunzel was probably the best. They talked about their long hair and how much they love lizards.
