Safe travels and try and get your flight changed as a winter weather warning for Philly was just posted for 6 inches of heavy wet snow. Even if your flight doesn't get cancelled it's going to be a cluster of epic proportions both at the airport and on the roads
We're flying into Newark and staying at my husband's apartment in Jersey City, since we're due to land at 11 PM. I am definitely keeping an eye on the weather. The AA app has given us the option to change flights, but my husband is holding the line. My flight isn't until 4:30 PM local, so I have some time to see how to tomorrow will unfold back east. If we do back it back to Newark, I am hoping things will be settled by Saturday AM when we drive back to south Jersey. The only thing that concerns me is this plane we are on does fly out of PHL for one leg of the journey, so there is a chance of cancellation. My husband is 6'4'' and paid for extra legroom and he's worried he will lose this if we change flights.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!! We're just at an advisory for 2 to 4 up north. I'd probably be most worried about delays and the roads. The pike should be ok but your local roads, again, good luck

Hello-

I haven't worked out since Sunday, because I am in Scottsdale, AZ. We flew out very early Monday and when we got to EWR, it was a madhouse at 4 AM! There was a line out the door to use the self-check in, but I had to wait in the long "full service" line, because my known traveler/TSA pre check did not show up on my ticket. By the time I got that sorted and went through security, they were boarding my 6 AM flight. I was so anxious about missing the flight, my stomach was seriously messed up for the rest of the day and the next day too. BUT, when we checked in to the resort, we got upgraded to a seriously nice room. It was kind of crazy this week. We got room service the first night, because we were too tired and there was a basket of cookies with our order, just because I guess. Then we went to the steakhouse at our resort Tuesday night. Our server came out with 2 flutes of champagne as a thank you when we were done eating. When I passed on desert, because I was full. She came out with a complimentary dessert anyway that she lit on fire. :hilarious: We went on a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's AZ home and we went to Afternoon Tea at another resort. Today is my last full day here. I am kind of worried about tomorrow's weather back east, but we have plans in case our flight back is cancelled. I am hoping knowing we have a plan in the worst case scenario reduces my anxiety a bit. Other than going on walks, I haven't worked out. My stomach was messed up the first half of the week, so I was kind of tired. I'm just listening to my body and not stressing about missing workouts. I will get back to it as soon as I return home. I had such a fantastic time here, being in the sun helped my mood so much. We honestly just sat in the sun whenever we could and took it easy. :)
I like flying out of many airports on the first flight on United which is usually 530 or 6am and on time departure. Yes it is a madhouse standing on line with thousands of others at 430am at TSA. Waking up at 2am , breakfast , drive and get to airport is something I'm used to. My family once flew out of MCO at 6am and at 4am there was a 60 min wait with thousands of travelers on line at Terminal B to clear TSA. The long ordeal is worth it to get an on time departure most of the times.

Yeah, we flew out of EWR back in September for a 6:15 am flight and it was dead, which is why I was surprised that the lines to check in were so long on Monday. American only had three agents checking people in which made the lines much longer than they needed to be. The TSA lines were moving, it was AAL that was super slow. I was beginning to worry we were going to miss our flight because people in line behind us were asking us to cut because their flights were departing in 30 min. It was insane and I think American needs to own up to inadequate staffing.

I'm not surprised as it was a 3 day weekend

I’m at PHX earlier than we need to be because the car rental was due at noon. It’s too soon to check in. I had been watching the inbound flight from PHL, it took off, but it was crazy delayed. I have this app that let me know that our inbound was coming from DCA now. So far our flight is leaving on time. Do I think that will change? Definitely. I have books to read and movies to watch to pass the time. We have plans in case it is cancelled. All I can do at this point is go with the flow. I’m just glad this is happening at the end of our trip and not the beginning. I had such a fantastic time, I booked another trip to that resort in September.

When my sibling flew back from Europe and landed at EWR, there were only 2 customs agents working and two lines of hundreds of fellow travelers waiting to clear Customs . One of the Customs agents advised that many of his peers were deployed to Texas to help out at border areas.

Hello--

Checking in with a leg/bicep and jump rope workout. I thought about going out for a walk, but it's windy and the snow here is a dry powder. The thought of that snow blowing in my face is...🥶

Amazingly, my flight departed early and we arrived at Newark early. The flight was maybe half-full, so I think that's why we were able to push back early. It was a nice, drama-free flight.

I had a great trip, but I am happy to be home again. :)

Good morning ☀️

Checking in with a kettlebell workout. It was about 30 min, but it moved fast. I like the sweaty workouts because I feel like a mini furnace the rest of the day. I am going for a walk later, just get some fresh air and sunshine. It's still very cold, but I have fleece-lined leggings and I will layer up.

I haven't seen the cat since yesterday. I don't think she slept in her house last night, either. I hope she is ok wherever she is. This might have been her first experience with this much snow. I think she is 2-3 years old and we haven't had this much snow in the same amount of time. She came to the door for food yesterday afternoon and I didn't have to coax her to come in. I opened the door and she came right in.

Good morning

I did a full body circuit training workout this AM. Nice and sweaty. I did get out for a walk yesterday and I dressed appropriately, so I was pretty comfortable outside. The only thing that worried me was the ice. I am hoping this all melts away as the weeks goes on and the temps go up.

I am getting my first Shingrix shot Friday morning. I am hoping I don't feel too badly after getting it. My husband has been on my case the past month to get it, because he had it four years ago. He was miserable and he said he doesn't wish it on his worst enemy. He was lucky that it was caught early, because he was able to go on an antiviral. Even with the antiviral, he said he was still in a lot of pain. It was weird, because his sister in the UK had it at the same time and she is 9 years younger than he is. As much as I don't want to deal with post-vax side-effects, I'll take that over what my husband went through.

Good luck with your shot. Dh had minor symptoms for a day or 2 after his, everybody I know who had shingles had symptoms for weeks ranging from annoying to they're still posting about how bad it was years later

I had my (2) shingles shots last year. It makes my (6) Moderna vaccine shots 2021,23 look like nothing. I could feel the juice of the Shingrix vaccine being shot into my arm like nothing else, had arm pain for 2 days and fever and flu like symptoms for 1 1/2 days. A small price to pay so to not get shingles. My college roommate got shingles and had skin pain for 6 months. After he got shingles then he got the shingles vaccine. It is amazing a number of my friends family and neighbors over the age of 50 have no interest in getting the shingles vaccine. My health insurance paid for my shingles shots. My pharmacist said some insurance companies don't pay for the shots and the (2) Shingrix shots costs $300 total for each person.

My husband said he feels different after having shingles. He gets a red mark like a lupus rash on his face and he is allergic to a lot more things than he was previously. It's crazy because everyone I know who has had shingles has been under 50. They've been in their 40s and their late 30s.

Good morning :)

I don't think I'm going to post daily updates but wanted to share that I've been getting back on the bike. I've been doing 45+ minutes/15+ miles. I get more of a rush with the longer distance, so hopefully I can keep finding the time. I've been throwing in some kettlebell exercises to target my abs and some arm work to try and round things out. We're about to start high school ball season, which from the parent side, is a more forgiving schedule. I'm optimistic about the time to fit this in and get a habit going.

Seeing these flying stories has me thinking we dodged a bullet. Sam was invited to Wisconsin for a camp, but it conflicted with school ball media day. It's definitely a school she wants to see, but I was kind of relieved. Local winter weather stranded some people here, so I can only imagine what we would have faced in Madison and Milwaukee.

Hello

Checking in with a leg workout. It was pretty spicy and I wasn't feeling it today, tbh. But I did it. I might go for a walk, but the sidewalks are icy/slushy/snowy and it doesn't make for an enjoyable walk. I hope this raining that is coming will melt it all.

I got matched with another family for a lasagna. This time, the person responded to my texts. So, this weekend will be lasagna-making weekend. I am hoping the Shingrix doesn't hit me too hard. I am a little bit worried because the covid vaccine always knocks me flat for 2-3 days afterwards. I'll figure out a way to work around it. :)

You did! Good call on not going near the upper Midwest in the winter. I won't change planes in Chicago in the winter if I can help it.

What is school ball media day?

@Sans Souci It's really too bad because she was excited to get the invite from the club manager. It's a tough time of year for these things. We saw several kids from other schools rushing off to the airport or quick road trips for college camps when pictures ended. Unfortunately, this camp was a Saturday only, so it wouldn't have worked regardless of the season/weather.

While they also do traditional portraits and team photos, varsity players get to take pics that can be used for things like team banners, social media, and general news coverage. This is one of my favorites that they took of Sam.
