working out for Disney

I mean, I guess I could see it if it was a wildly different culture, like somewhere in Asia or something. But the UK isn't THAT different.

It's silly. Anyway, he might not be going. They used to have a third party vendor do the clearance. My husband kept contacting them about his approaching date and nobody responded. He mentioned it to someone, who said they brought it back "in house." There was never any announcement. All of the people going on this trip don't have clearance, because they all kept reaching out to the 3rd party. So he made a request yesterday, but it's the State Dept that does the clearance and he has little faith in them getting the request done by the last working day this week. He leaves Sunday, so maybe someone can get it approved at the last minute.

Hello-

Yesterday I did a shoulder workout and today I did a lower body workout. I might stop using that gym. I always disinfect the equipment I've used after I work out. I went to use the bench yesterday and there were drips of stuff on it and it looked oily/greasy. I cleaned it before I touched it. This was gym etiquette long before COVID was a thing. But I am thinking other people don't disinfect. I guess we've learned absolutely nothing in these past 2 years. Now monkeypox is becoming more prevalent up there, so maybe I'll stay home to workout. It's a very nice gym for an apartment building, but I prefer working out at home. I think this guy thought I was filming my workout on my phone, because I had it propped up on the ground. I was following along to a YouTube video. He looked at phone and gave me this smirky look. :hilarious: I did nothing and kept working out. I don't owe him an explanation of what I was doing. If he wants to think I am filming myself workout, let him.:angelic:

Wow....what great communication! <insert sarcasm here> That must be very frustrating! What happens if he doesn't get clearance? He just doesn't go?

No, he can't go. So far, he's heard nothing. But someone told him they working on it for them. I am glad I am not going with him. I probably would have had to spend a lot of time on the phone, trying to get some credit for a future flight.

I had a week of lazy meals planned for me next week. My son does his own thing. But I was planning on cooking twice (with a night of carry out) and eating leftovers. :hilarious:

Hello-

Checking in with a cardio YouTube video I did on YouTube. It was ok. I didn't feel like like doing a lot of jumping today, so this was low key. I was going to go for a walk, but it's 100F outside. I am tired of feeling like I've been dunked underwater when I am done. So, I'm taking a break today. I feel like it's harder to stay hydrated, too. It's like I am drinking loads of water and not "catching up" on what I've sweated out on my walks. I feel awful for people who need to work outdoors in this weather, landscapers, builders, road construction, luggage handlers/fuelers on hot tarmacs, etc. It must be absolutely miserable for them.

Agree about the people who have jobs outside, working in the hot sun. Last week, a few men were working on the street in the heat, and hubs brought them a few bottles of water. They were so grateful for his gesture. :)

Just wanted to check in. We were pretty good about getting active on the cruise. On at sea days, we’d typically put in several laps on the 5th deck track before hitting the fitness center. Most days I’d do an additional 20 minutes of cardio followed by some circuit training. I had to ditch the elliptical because it was such an uncomfortable experience. The fitness center was in the ship’s bow, so every stride was impacted by every swell and wave. It made me feel like I was in a constant lunge. Just due to the size of an Oasis class ship, we were walking miles and miles every day. We also got in some decent physical activity on our excursions.

So now we try and get back to normal. Unfortunately, we’ve got a new obstacle with that…

I’m feeling a lot better…about 98% normal, but it’s not how I planned to spend these post trip days.

We're good. We're in my hometown area, so it's pretty relaxed. Had dinner with the D.A.R.E. officer from when I was a kid, and then last night with some friends in my home town. Today we meet up with my cousins and then have dinner with some of my dad's old friends who helped us a lot when he died. He was basically living with them when he died. So We're just making the rounds, seeing people. Tomorrow we'll head to South Dakota and see the badlands. We haven't really had any serious problems since our mountain detour. My husband did book us at a real stinker of a hotel in Casper. He hadn't helped me with any of the planning and I was feeling really overwhelmed with it all. The suddenly he says he wants to take a look at all the hotels I booked, because I booked through booking.com where I had free cancellation with everything, since we weren't sure our flight would go, that Yellowstone would be open, etc. But I didn't know he already had Genius level 2 on booking, where I was starting from scratch. So suddenly he wants to check all the hotel stuff and see if he could get us a better deal. I had booked the cheapest hotels that looked decent and had the amenities I wanted. Like, when we were staying a few nights, I wanted a pool so we could unwind at the end of the day. Well, when he looked, he was kind of upset that I hadn't booked the cheapest of the cheap places. I explained that I didn't want to stay in a carphole, so there were some I had purposely NOT booked. He was pressuring me to change them to the cheap places. I refused on most of them, but he was getting really frustrated and saying that you know, we could stay at THIS place for a lot cheaper, and did I really need a pool, etc. I had booked us in Casper at a really nice place....the only NICE place I had booked us. I figured for one night, we could splurge, and it wasn't THAT expensive...most of the places I had booked were under $100 per night and this one was like $160, but it had a nice indoor pool, it had a gym. He kind of threw a hissy fit about it and we could stay at the motel 6 for less than HALF that price. I tried to explain that Motel 6 doesn't have a great reputation...it's not going to be a very nice place, and I really didn't want to stay in a hole. He says "Well I didn't book us in a hole, now, did I!?" He kind of forced me to change that one, and I had refused all his other choices because they didn't save much or didn't save anything. So I felt like I HAD to give in to this one. I really shouldn't have. At least I was spared telling him I told him so. We got there and there were some people loitering outside being loud and obnoxious and the gal had to go out and tell them to go away, there were police there for some reason. We went into the room and it REEKED of smoke, there were stains on the walls, on the bed, it didn't look clean, the beds were small and not comfortable. He says "Well should I go see if we can change to a non-smoking room?" I said I thought the whole hotel was non-smoking. E looks and shows him that there's a no smoking sign on the door. I told him, they are ALL going to be like this....that's Motel 6." He seemed kind of shocked that it was not a nice hotel, like he hadn't believed me when I said I didn't want to stay in a carphole. He honestly thought I was exaggerating because I wanted to stay in the expensive one. Well, a few comments from the kids about feeling unsafe, about it being about the same as one he booked us in in Germany one time, about not wanting to shower there because it felt unclean, and the fact that there was a drug deal going down there when we came back from dinner that night, and then A couldn't sleep because there were people being really loud outside...I think he got the picture all on his own, without me telling him I had told him. I could tell by the pictures on the website that it wasn't going to be a nice place. The room was so small, there was barely room to put the suitcases in the room, but you couldn't leave anything in the car....it was not a good neighborhood. And it was super basic....there was nowhere to plug things in, we couldn't get connected to the wifi, there were no amenities...they didn't even give you soap or shampoo like most places, there was no hair dryer...I don't need luxury, but it wasn't even clean or comfortable, and it wasn't in a safe neighborhood. Hopefully he got the message and will listen to me next time when I say it doesn't look very nice. There was one other one in Cheyenne, I think also a motel 6, that I refused because it looked hideous. He was upset that I wouldn't budge on that one...I hope he gets it now.

I’m so sorry you had to go through this. Mind you, I do the bulk of our bookings and my husband doesn’t mind a splurge, but we’ve had some battles over more basic lodging. I’ve tried to make it very clear that cheapest sometimes (not always) means dirty and/or unsafe. It can really hurt a trip if you’re stuck in bad lodging.

Sad face for the Covid test, hopefully everything will stay mild for you.

Hello-

Today I did a full body workout. I need a pad for my barbell. I do an exercise where I have my back against the couch and I have my barbell on my hips, then I lift my hips. It hurts, even when I wrap the barbell in a thick towel. I have to quit before my muscles are tired because it is so uncomfortable. I saw some pads at Amazon that looked reasonably priced. I always get bruises on my hips when I do that.

The three of us went out for ice cream today. The last time I went, I got a single scoop of coconut cream in a sugar cone. It was kind of skimpy the last time, so I got a double scoop. OMG, this was huge. If they gave me this size scoop the last time, I would have gotten a single today. Wow. I only ate a protein bar today, so that was my lunch and maybe even my dinner. :hilarious:

Three out of 10 of us are positive (me, husband, dad). My mom has symptoms, but has continued to test negative for 5 days straight. My brother's family seems to be fine, although, they had some illness issues towards the end of the cruise. I think omicron also went through their home in June...so that could have helped them. He and my SIL have to test all of the time because they work in hospitals, which is also probably part of why they got it before. My kids are both still negative and no symptoms. School starts Tuesday, so I'd like a little bit of normalcy! 😂

Fingers crossed your daughters stay negative. That's crazy about your mom testing negative for so many days in a row with symptoms. It's going to get most of us in the end, isn't it? Ick.

Hello-

I am having a rest day. My husband is getting up at 4 for his flight tomorrow, so I decided to swap my rest days, since I will likely be up at 4 with him. I did go for a walk this AM.

My MIL called earlier. Her partner had a massive stroke and the doctors told her he is brain dead. My MIL never remarried, so she can't consent to withdrawing care. It is up to his son, so she has called him. My husband might have to stay a few days extra now, depending on when (and if) there is a funeral by early next week. Otherwise he has going to fly home and go back. It's just so crazy. On my last visit to my IL's house four years ago, he seemed unstoppable. He was a very active man for his age. He was trying to get me to go "Modern Jive" dancing with him, but I declined. My MIL is supposed to visit us in a few weeks. It is totally up to her, but it might be a good thing for her to still come over. We had a couple small trips planned and she has her own living space here if she wants to be alone. But it is up to her.

Maybe it's not my place to say this, but I feel like my husband should be with his mom at this time, not doing a bank exam.

Good morning-

Checking in with a workout called Burpee Bonanza. It was not fun and after I started it, I remember this was on my mental "never do this workout again" list. I might go for a walk later, but I opened up the door to feed the cat earlier, I was smacked in the face with oppressive humidity. It's too early to be so humid.

Anyway, my MIL called my husband last night to say her partner passed away. His family had all been to say their good byes and she had just left the hospital when they called to tell her he was gone. So, it's almost like he hung on until he got to say good bye. My SIL lives 2 miles away, so she'll be there. I asked my husband if he was going up, he said he didn't know. She did tell my husband she is still coming over in a few weeks, because she thinks it will be good to get out of the house. My MIL has a lot of friends. Seriously. She used to come to WDW with us and on one trip went to Walmart to get some food. She ran into a friend. In Florida! :hilarious: I think her friends are going to rally around her, too.

Good morning ☀️

Checking in with a lower body strength training workout. It is a 6 week program (free on YouTube). By the time I finish it, I will be going to WDW. I rarely stay on programs. But I am going to try. I just need a lot of variety.

I am going out for a walk shortly. I am brining a big bottle of ice water. They keep extending the heat advisory. We've been under one since Thursday. Enough already. 😡 :hilarious:

Good (soggy) morning. ☔

Checking in with a low impact, low intensity, active rest day, workout. I've been keeping up with the 6 week program I've been doing. My husband comes home tomorrow night, so there is just one more night of unrestful sleep for me! :hilarious: I have a meditation app that has sleep meditations on it and I have been doing that when I awake in the middle of the night. The problem is, I wake up when it ends.:hilarious:

Happy Friday! 🎉

I did a full body strength training workout. Wow, did my heart rate get up for this one, but it felt good to be done.

I made a pan of brownies last night. I used a deep dark cocoa, like the kind used in Oreos. They came out so good 🤌, but so rich. A small piece is more than enough.

The weather is so much better today, so I am getting out for a walk. 🌺
