@HouCuseChickie stay safe and dry. Keeping my fingers crossed the latest storm turns into a nothing burger

Thanks! Me too! I'm still prepared just in case. Gassed up yesterday, got grocery essentials, checked the battery stock, charged all of the rechargeable stuff, etc. I'm still waiting to see if they cancel school. Most districts have, but ours likes to wait until the last minute in many cases.

Good afternoon,

For those that don't know, I'm on my way home from WDW.

For those who also don't know, right before WDW, I sprained both ankles. After Ida, I went to check out the yard, and I slipped and fell in the mud. Both ankles are pretty nasty right now, especially after 10 days at WDW. I plan on staying off of them the rest of this week.

In other news, I was thinking of cancelling my gym membership, but given that Maryland is at 75% 12+ vaccinated and that I'm getting my second shot next week, I think I'll keep it through the winter and see how much I'm using it with being home three days a week for work. That way I can also go in once my membership restarts and go work my ankles out in the pool.

Hello-

I've been back since Saturday night. I used the hotel gym once on our vacation. It was not fun lifting weights in a mask. I figured taking a week off wasn't a bad thing, especially since I was pretty active. The vacation started out a bit rough. My stomach misbehaved on our first day and it killed my appetite for the rest of the week. I had been taking loads of Advil for my sinus pain and I think it finally caught up with me. I dropped a CC at Epcot, noticed a few minutes after paying, so I was able to lock it to look around for it. Not even an hour later, I had notification of a declined charge for $1.70. CC fraudsters make small purchases before going all in. I was hoping that someone would turn it in, as I had immediately gone to Guest Services to file a lost item report. I was disappointed that someone was going to fleece a person they'd never met. What are the chances my CC would be picked up by a CC fraudster?

But the rest of the week was great. We had a corner nice room with a patio at the Dolphin that looked out at the swan paddleboats, pools and the Swan hotel. At the end of the hall was the gym and the walkway to the pool and pool bar that serves tasty food. We were a 30 sec walk to the pool. Plus we were so close to the bus stop. I would stay here again. I think it has more of an adult vibe going on and is great for people traveling without children (But there are many things for families, too.). No, it's not a Disney resort, but that is exactly why I liked it. We sampled some food at the Food and Wine Festival, had a very lovely dinner at Jaleo, went to the Boo Bash and got to be co-pilots on Smuggler's Run. We didn't make going to the parks a big priority (though we went one or two a day), but we spent a lot of time relaxing at the pool. I brought a copy of The Shining with me to read poolside. :)

The flight back was interesting. We got boarding group B 13 and 14 on Southwest. We thought we'd be able to sit together, in the past we have without issue. I tried three times to get two seats together, only to be told the seats were being saved. After the third time of being told no, I snapped at the woman, "You can't save five seats on a 737 for your family. You either all pay for the Early Bird or you all board at the same time." We got seats together at the last row. Other people were struggling to find seats and the FA in the aft saw this and asked us which group we were. I told her and I told her people are saving seats for family members and she said, "No, no. They can't be doing that on this flight." So, she got on the PA and told people to stop saving seats. I have never seen so much seat saving before on SWA. In 15+ years I've been flying SWA, this is the worst I've seen it.

Then a bunch of babies filled out the adjacent seats and when the plane started to descend, it was a cacophony of crying, punctuated by totally random toddler screams. There were like 6 babies around us. I just started laughing, it was like something out of a sitcom. My husband and I were the last people off of the plane and the same FA who told people to knock off the seat saving asked my husband and me, "What was up with the six babies crying at once? That was weird, right?" I would have thought that went with the territory of flying to/from MCO. 😂

Anyway, I started lifting weights again and I have been working out regularly since Sunday. :)

Sounds like you had a relaxing time after the credit card issue and the tummy issue. I'm glad you were able to get away and have some fun.

Well it sounds like an interesting adventure in any case. My kids were fine when they were little on flights....slept right through landing. But A was really nervous last time. I think it was more because of the stressful situation at the airport before boarding, and he was already overly-stimulated and couldn't process anymore.

I'm sorry about the CC! You wouldn't expect the person who picked it up to try to use it immediately. I would hope MOST people would turn it in.

I was thinking of looking into the Swolphin for our next trip, but I'm not sure. The next one is supposed to be a girls trip, either with just E and myself, or possibly with my bestie and her younger daughter. (her oldest is getting married in a few days) The girls are around a year apart in age, but have never met, so I'm hoping they will be able to get along well. In any case, my bestie is financially...more than comfortable, shall we say, and we are not on her level. She's used to really nice accommidations where I'm more used to budget friendly stuff. I don't think she'd have a problem staying at a moderate, depending on the theming, but she'd probably rather be in a deluxe, so I am also looking into renting points. Is Swolphin fairly nice? You still get the perks there, right? And you can walk to Epcot and HS? Or do I have that wrong?

I need to get back into my walking routine. We had some bad weather for a while and I didn't get to go out and now I haven't gotten to go for quite a while. I had to take E to the doctor yesterday because she was complaining that her hip hurts. The doctor said he thinks it's an infection in the ligament (I THINK that's the translation) and gave her some pain killers with a built in infection fighter. (I don't know how it differs from an antibiotic, but they don't CALL it an antibiotic, so I'm assuming there's a difference.) Anyway, we rode our bikes there and back, but she can't do PE for the next two weeks and isn't allowed to do any "sportsing", only the standard daily movement. So I have no walking partner right now either, and it's hard to motivate myself. Anyone else have that problem, or do you all like the alone time?

Swolphin are a great value. You can walk to Epcot. I don't recommend walking to DHS when you can take the boat; it's a long walk, but you can walk. You also get the evening hours benefit that are only for deluxe resorts/villas. I think depending on the time of year, they're comparable to a moderate in price, maybe a tad more, but they're nice. You basically get the benefits of it being a Disney resort without quite the same level of theming, but a lower price.

That's fantastic. Epcot is my favorite park and I'd love to stay at one of the resorts where you can walk there, but man are deluxe resorts EXPENSIVE! It might be fine for a couple of days, but where we also have international flights, and therefore also stay longer because we don't go as often, that cost builds up! But Swolphin might be doable!

Quite a few times, I stayed at either Swan or Dophin. It would depend upon the number of people sharing (or not sharing rooms, and all getting private rooms). Swan has queen beds (and some kings), while Dolphin as double (full) beds, and some kings.

Loved the location of both.

I always go out walking by myself, as I can focus on my timing and stride. I'll say hello to people when I pass them, but that's about it for socializing on the trails.

How did you get around?

I don't know if your gym offers this, but there are water aerobics classes that take place in the deep end, while you wear a vest. There is no impact at all.

I was more angry about the seat saving than I was the babies. Babies can't help crying when they are in pain, but I've never flown in a cluster of babies before. They've usually been dispersed throughout the aircraft. It's like one starts, the others have to join in. But I think it's ridiculous to save two rows of seats for your family. I think that many people who need to sit together should all pay for the Early Bird check in or fly another airline where you can choose your seat. It almost renders the boarding groups meaningless.

I know others have have answered this better, but I think it's nice. Bear in mind it is a convention hotel, so you might get large groups while you're there. There was a US Ballroom Dancing Championship going on while we were there. They weren't bothersome, other than an inability to wear a mask indoors where there is a sign posted every 25 ft to wear one. You get to walk or take a Friendship to two parks. There is a spa if you and your daughter wanted to do a spa day. If you spend $175, you get $30 off I think? But there is a $35/night resort fee and they have their own bus system. So, you're not getting off at MK, but the TTC and you get picked up at a different place at DAK. It's not themed, if that is an issue for you. The pools are great and there are plenty of recreational activities.

I didn't take many photos on the trip. But these are some from my room. My phone always makes thing looks further than they are. I think it's a very lush resort.

What a strange place to get an infection. I hope she's feeling better. She's been having a rough time lately.

I prefer to walk alone. I tried walking with my husband on his lunches since covid hit, but I prefer a slightly longer walk and just being alone with my thoughts. I use my walks to untangle thoughts in my head. I do walk with my husband on his days off and on weekends, because then we can go on longer walks.

They do. My membership doesn't restart until October 14. There's also a therapy pool that's just for injury recovery.

I walked. It was bad.

Hello-

Yesterday I did a 30 minute yoga practice and today I did full body strength training from a YouTube video. It was brutal. I think I have a sinus infection. My right cheek and upper teeth are giving me so much grief. I don't have a fever, but every now and again, I get this intense pain behind my rt cheekbone, my upper rt teeth and my rt eye. It lasts 5-10 min and I have to lie down. I'm going to give it a day or two before I call my doc. I found some decongestants--the good stuff that you have to provide ID for and that seems to have helped with the pressure. I was taking way too much Advil before and I think this will be better for my stomach. My husband is nudging me to make an appointment with his ENT, because I have been dealing with this for years. It messes with my sleep because I sometimes have to sit up in the middle of the night to relieve the pressure in my sinuses.

I am making baked tofu with a lemon-tahini sauce, roasted cauliflower with honey and pistachios and couscous for dinner tonight.
