working out for Disney

Did a FIRM workout yesterday as planned, and managed to get in a session of Fat Eliminator with Minna Lessig today, despite my mother in law dropping by unannounced ("I'm only stopping for a minute") and hanging around for an hour and a half

@DisneyDebNJ, I laughed out loud at the dusting gym equipment, but Figgy's right, housework definitely counts!!

Still gotta pack my carry on for tomorrow...I'll be working out at Wilderness Lodge the rest of the week! 30 minutes a day out of vacation time won't spoil my fun, and it's necessary to keep me in track. If I take a week off, its just too easy for me to let it go, it'll take me three weeks to get back to regular exercise!

Enjoy your Sunday evening, everyone!
Have a GREAT time!!!!!!!!!

Are you talking about Jillian Michael's yoga meltdown or does she have a new yoga workout? I like yoga meltdown but it got to the point where it wasn't really challenging enough so I got kinda bored and I didn't like level 2 as much as level 1 because there really weren't any flowing sequences. I'd love to try a new one if she's got it.
Sorry the yoga melt down! I forgot I even had it so it's new to me!Doing it after doing 5 miles was interesting! lol

Good morning I'd like to thank everyone here for keeping me accountable about excercising! This morning I started with JM's No More Trouble Zones (I still have some so I'll keep doing this one lol) followed by LS's 5 miles with boosters. I love weight and cardio combo day always feel tighter after! So troops up and at em! It's the beginning of a new week so let's make the most of it! If you have access to a pool just keep swimming, just keep swimming!

Sorry I have been MIA...things just happening....

I have missed my WDW Gal Pals! @figmentfan423 and @DisneyDebNJ

Figgy, I am sorry to hear you were not feeling well, I hope you are feeling better.

I guess you all know by now I practice Yoga everyday. I work full time in an office and I teach about 2 classes a night, sometimes more.

Someone mentioned Yin Yoga (@93boomer), slow paced but holding the poses, adds moderate stress connective tissue to the fascia allowing for increased flexibility. Yin makes this a pretty challenging practice. If yourn a practiced yogi give Shiva Rea's dvd a shot, Shakti. It's interactive you basically create your own flow. It can be challanging so be mindful of what you are choosing.

I am certified in hatha yoga teacher and it is the base of my practice. My practice always includes breath, asana and rest! I enjoy a faster flow vinyasa and I dabble in ashtanga 2 times a week for strength. I believe yoga is good for every"body" but choosing the right class can be a challange. If you have never done yoga before look for gentle/basic classes to get you moving in the right direction. In my opinion Sun Salutations are the key to keeping the body healthy, joints lubericated and adds just enough stress to the connective tissue to help release those tight spots. If your looking for a "work-out" try Baron Baptise, he instructs a stong powerful flow, very invigorating.

Remember to exercise your mind, meditate!! It is my belief that Yoga is designed to bring together the mind, body and soul by using ody movement and meditation. It is based on the yogic strategy that the mind and body are in fact "one". I believe that if you practice yoga every day over a long period of time in earnes, it can help bring the body to reach a place of harmony and heal itself...

Thank you for allowing me to go on and on and on.....lol...

@LuLaSue, thanks for that informative post. For a total beginner who's fairly inflexible (in body, but not in mind ;) ) would you recommend seeking out a class and getting started under supervision rather than a video workout?

I'm really interested in yoga, but any classes in my area seem to be during the day, and that doesn't really fit with my work schedule!

@Tiggerish, It is my pleasure. I will always recommend seeking out a class with a certified instructor BUT, if this is not a real option for you I can suggest yoga journals, complete beginner's guide dvd. I love this to start, it has an entire encyclopedia of poses and realy give you a nice breakdown of the practice along with a lengthy class and two short classes. When practicing on your own (and with an instructor), always remember to honor your body, you don't always have to listen to what the instructor/dvd is telling you. If it hurts ease up.

You may want to pop into your local studio. Even if they don't have classes at your preferred time you may find a teacher that will do a group/private if you have the space in your home. I do them often! To give you an estimate I charge $60 for up to 5 people. No matter how many people show, the cost remains the same. I find beginners learn faster and feel more comfortable in a smaller environment. Before I know it, they are flowing with the best of them!

PS... If your a beginner seeking classes I would stay away from HOT or Ashtanga to start. Get grounded in your practice first and then see if these classes work for you.

Well, I'm starting off vacation with plenty of exercise--arrived at the airport (early for once) to find that our flight was delayed by over an hour, and moved to a different terminal, so we walked over and had lunch, then they moved our flight back to the original gate!! So I've done some walking and isometric weightlifting (toting my carry on bag) :). I'll be all set for my dinner at Citrico's, meanwhile my sweetie is napping in the chair next to me.

Do you all have significant others who share your enjoyment of exercise, or do you have a couch potato like I do? :D

Hello everyone.

I am back. Even though I brought my DVDs, yoga never happened. I was sick with a sore throat and fever the first two days. I had to cancel my BoG reservation on Friday night, I felt so ill. They waived the cancellation fee, since I was ill. I was really looking forward to it, too. Speaking of illness, when did it become socially acceptable to cough and sneeze in public without covering one's mouth? I saw this all weekend. I am talking about adults and children who should know better. I was in a monorail car with a woman who was talking about how she and her family had a stomach virus the day before and she was coughing without covering her mouth in the monorail. I asked her to please cover her mouth and she looked at me as if I was the person lacking in manners. But other than that glitch, we had fun, even though it was verrrrry cold.

Today, I have 72 sun salutations on tap. I hope everyone has a great day.

@LuLaSue it's good to see you here! I love your yoga input! :)

I'll bbl.
