working out for Disney

When is your last day?

The student's last day is this Wednesday June 5th. Because of all the snow/cold days off we had this year staff has to go until June 10th and we had to make up 32 hours of work on our own. That is fine, because I'd rather be able to make up the the hours than get docked pay for having those days off. So June 6 & 7 are in-service and I guess there are meetings of some sort, our principal hasn't made it clear. I do get to leave at noon on Monday the 10th instead of staying a full day because I'm chaperoning a field trip to a local amusement park on the 4th and we don't get back until 8-8:30 pm so my boss said those of us chaperoning can leave early on the 10th to compensate for our time.

A couple teacher friends in near by districts were not able to make up the time from snow days on their own like we did and have to continue to go into their schools until June 13-14 even though their students are done on the 5th like ours. I don't think their districts are actually going to get an honest day's work out of their teacher on those days. There just isn't much to do anymore, unless they start prepping for next school year.

It's not a dumb question at all. Make up has gotten ridiculous in the past 20 years. The power puff thing--this is something I am seeing cosmetic companies do now, especially the higher end ones. They sell you a product, but not the applicator. This powder recommends you use the brand's own powder puff--it's $16. Not buying it. They sell 4 for two bucks at Target.
Well of course they will recommend you use their own powder puff, because then they get more of your money. $16 for a powder puff? What's it made of? Gold?

I've seen that stuff. What is the science behind it? It's so weird to get pain relief from tape. Does it mobilize things so things can heal? This stuff fascinates me!
I looked it up because I was curious, too. The only thing I could find was something about lifting your skin away from the joint to increase the space so more blood could flow to the injured area. I have no idea whether that's true or not, but it worked, so yay. So bizzare!! I thought maybe it just gave some support, but apparently not? In 24 hours, I went from not being able to lift a notebook to being able to lift my purse, which is WAY heavier. It's completely back to normal. How weird is that??

@epcotisbest , my previous Weber (charcoal) grill finally rusted out (we keep it outdoors all year, through snow, rain, and everything--no room inside for it). Had it about 5 years, so can't complain.

Last week, I went looking for a new one (they're still expensive). So I went to Lowes here, because the web site said they had the basic models in stock on the floor. When I got there, they only had the more expensive ones. :( I asked a man in the dept. if he might have some in a back storeroom, etc. He looked it up, and then brought over a tall ladder, and got me one from way up on a high shelf.

I took it to the checkout, and the casher rang up $40 (before tax). :jawdrop: What?! It's supposed to cost around $110!! So the man at the register told me it was from last year, and they had changed inventory numbers (or something like that) and this was just one left--so it had been marked down to move it out. SCORE!!! :joyfull: :joyfull:

Maybe I'll go to Sephora later and see what they recommend. I just dread dealing with sales people, because they end up trying to push other stuff on you. I did try the setting powder and it seemed the put off the oiliness a little bit longer. I am hoping there will be breaks so I can blot my face. My interview at American only gave a five minute break and they locked you out if you weren't back in time. There was a line for the women's restroom and I didn't want to be sent to the airport because I couldn't get back into the room on time.
Beware they'll try and upsale you, see if you can get a sample to try before buying. I've gotten samples that have lasted a week from there;)

Hello-

Yesterday I did some yoga and walked.

I did my walk early today and my plans are to do some restorative yoga before bed tonight. It supposed to storm here, so I got my walk in early. I just have to do stuff like get my nails done and get some last minute items before I fly Tuesday.

I feel like I am as prepared as I can be. My husband offered to practice with me, but I declined. He'll say things like, "I would say it like this." or "I would stress this, instead." So, I stopped practicing with him. If I said the things he thought I should say, it would feel inauthentic and that would probably come through. It's just nit-picky stuff, too! Besides, I've done the research, I know what they are looking for. :p

My husband bought some pulled pork yesterday, so I made some cole slaw and homemade brioche buns to serve with it. I made 6 buns. I only had one, but the human garbage disposal (AKA my son) had three. I guess I should be flattered and not angry? :hilarious:
You're so luck it was only 3. ;)

Agreed! Make up is insane. I wear makeup, but don't spend on it like some people I know. They think I need some kind of intervention because I don't spend hundreds (or more) each month on my make up and beauty regimen.

That Lucy remark is so true! :hilarious:

I just do my thing. I really don't like to tell people I do yoga. I feel like I fall into the maligned, stereotype of a woman who does yoga. "Basic, suburban, mom, etc." Outside of people here, only my husband and a few friends know I do yoga.

The stereotypes and so-called status of it all hasn't made me want to revisit it. It all makes me think of a "news" story I saw about some celeb shredding a receptionist at some gym because she had the gall to ask her if she'd ever done yoga before. I'm sure it was safety protocol to ensure they place beginners in the proper classes, but said celeb took it beyond fitness status and claimed she was the reason the girl had a job. Like her getting into yoga mixed with her celeb status is the reason why anyone does yoga.

Ultimately, that's just it...does anyone really 'need' to know anyone else is doing yoga, or running or whatever? I mean, it's one thing to share this info with a group if it's helping you stay on track, helping you meet goals, find some peace, etc. ... but so many people share for status and such.

I use a matte foundation, too. I think I am just this mega oil producing machine. Even in the coldest, driest Chicago winters, my face would be slick with oil. I have no idea what it's like to have dry skin. Neutrogena used to make this oil absorbing face wash, but it had those plastic micro-beads in it, so I stopped using it. But it made the oil manageable.

It's supposed to be stormy on Wednesday, so I am packing my straightening iron. I am wearing my hair in a low pony, but I am bringing all sorts of stuff to keep any fly aways at bay.

I've decided I am not wearing red lipstick this time. Everyone says to wear red lipstick to flight attendant interviews. I don't feel comfortable in it and I have no intention of wearing it when I am working. There is absolutely no requirement to wear it, either. LOL

My skin used to be typical combination, but I think all of these years in the humidity have changed it. I now have to do major moisturizing when we travel anyplace dry or if we hit a dry spell here.

Looks like the weather forecast changed since my last look. Now it's looking like 83 degrees and scattered storms for Wednesday. That's very mild for June. Good call on bringing the iron. I have curls, but if I want straight hair in the hot months, I have to iron and put product in it. It's just so much work and such a battle that I often just go for the messy bun on my head.

That's interesting about the lipstick. Maybe you can go for a red that pulls some brown? There are some nice brick colors that aren't full blown fire engine red that can be a good balance.

I used to have the Couch to 10K app. It was good that it let you play your own music and sets the intervals for you. I haven't used it in a while and I probably won't as long as I am living here. I've walked into so many gnat swarms. They've gotten in my eyes and I've had to get them out. I don't want to inhale them either. :hungover:

My friend is using couch to 5k and likes it. I added a couch to 10k app to my phone, but I haven't used it since I wanted to try Galloway's method. After looking at it again, I think the are very similar. It's funny...I haven't seen the bug swarms here like I used to see at my old house. The old neighborhood had lots of man made lakes and ponds with very little tree cover. I'm wondering if that fostered the gnat populations. Here, I just have to worry about mosquitoes if I slow down too much. Well, that and snakes and other creatures in the woods! The glasses are helping keep things out of my eyes. Whew!

Today was a gym/cross training day. I used the climber for 30 min, biked with 5lb dumbbells for 30 min, and walked a little to get a feel for my new shoes. I did a bunch of stuff on my exercise ball that I haven't done in a while. It's a mix of push ups from the ball, lower back work, this one thing to target where the glutes meet the hammies, and one that simulates the ab/core work you'd get with a power tower....along with doubling my crunches and tripling my ab leg holds with the ball.

Tomorrow is a break day!

What are the teachers supposed to with all of that additional time if there is nothing left to do? I know they are legally obligated to be there, but honestly, I don't see the point if people have nothing to do. I would be having chair races in the hallway or something.

I hope you will join us here when you start your yoga challenge. :)

Wow. That's amazing. My shoulder is getting cranky. I am tempted to try this tape as a preventative measure, before it gets to a point where it's too painful to do anything.

That is a really good deal for a Weber. I don't think you can get Weber knock-offs that cheap.

I don't remember needing half of this stuff until about 10-15 years ago. I feel like some women are starting to look like drag queens with all of this contouring and highlighting. I never used to use primer for my face or eye lids.
