Three years ago I lost around 60 lbs. It was a major lifestyle change for me. Back then I used to have a beard to hide a double chin. The spark, oddly, was when I took my then 5 year old to the grocery store to get some stuff to make a pasta dinner, and she saw a Mario Batali spaghetti sauce jar and pointed at the picture and asked if that was me...
It stunk at the time, but I also didn't force myself into misery with it. I cheated, I had little snacks that were off the diet, I added a TON of physical activity.
I now float around 200 (I'm 6'2"), which is still about 10 - 15 lbs heavier than I'd like to be, but because I didn't try and force myself into weight loss (rather decided I wanted to lose it) I've been able to maintain behaviors that keep me at that weight, and have shed behaviors that helped me gain the wait in the first place.
I know it's easy to do, but try your best not to feel upset about how slow it goes. It starts slow, but once you build the momentum, it goes really fast (still seems slow, takes months if not longer)...but melting off 3 - 5 lbs a month adds up quickly.
