working out for Disney

Good morning-

I was able to get up without issue this morning. I did a lower body workout that alternated cardio moves with lifting weights. It was a bit boring and I was looking at my Fitbit to see how much of the work out was left. :hilarious: But it's done for the day and that's what matters.

I am thinking of applying to United today. I am not sure, though. I figure I can kick in a resume and if I am not feeling it, rescind my application. I just feel more of an affinity for American since my grandfather & father (as well as uncles and aunts) worked for them. It was easy for me answer why I wanted to be an AA FA. I have a friend who is a United FA (and a lawyer!), so I'll contact him today to see what he thinks. He complains about working there, but he is a complainer by nature. :p

I'll probably get outside for a bit today. I can't wait until my husband's birthday cake is gone. It has been too tempting for me. I'm going to toss what's left of it today.
Good luck and I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.

Sorry I haven't checked in much lately. Same old same old cruddy weather except for Saturday and yesterday. I took Saturday as a turn off all my electronics, go for a couple of long walks, get my nails done and tune out for a belated birthday day after one of my kids forgot(the one that came out at 8 1/2 pounds), Sunday was cooking for hopefully most of the week and yoga, yesterday was 2 shortish practices and finally getting out for a walk and today was some quality time with LS. Please send summer, thank you

I applied. I'll see how it unfolds. The position is in listed for Chicago, but they can put me in Newark, I can stay with my grandma. She has mobility issues and I can give her a hand while I am on call. I'm not sure I can make it to Newark from down here in 2 hours. Plus I have to park and get a shuttle in, so that adds to the commuting time, too.

That's good that today was a better wake up day. I hate those days where you watch the tracker/timer because it's just not going fast enough, but it's still rewarding when you make it through it and you know you always feel better when you do (OK...most of the time).

It certainly can't hurt to try United. Houston (Intercontinental) is also a United hub. I can't say I know anyone that does or has worked for them, but I don't think we became a United hub until Continental merged into United in 2012 and by that point, I'd lost touch with anyone I knew who had been with Continental. Even though Houston's other airport (Hobby) is much farther from our current house, we usually wind up on Southwest or American (flies out of both airports) simply because of prices and flight times. What I do find funny...I have a lot of friends from the northeast who hate flying United, but most of the people I know here (myself included) have had good experiences. My parents have also been flying United more out of Ft. Lauderdale for their Houston visits and have had decent experiences. I generally believe that good experiences and good service are the result of happy employees.

I know what you mean about cake. I had to toss my dad's leftovers after my brain tried justifying excess cake snacking...simply because it was cake I could eat.

Saturday sounded like a nice day...long walks and getting your nails done! Nice :) Happy belated birthday!!! As my gift, I'll try and send our temps your way. Can't make any promises though as Mother Nature has a mind of her own ;)

Today felt a bit more exhausting than yesterday. I anticipated it though, so I pulled back a bit on my workout. I skipped a traditional walk for Cookie last night for this reason...not to mention that it's mosquito madness here right now. I still worked hard, but I skipped the climber and just biked and walked on the treadmill for my cardio. I did arms, back and shoulders and tossed in some extra ab work. I did wind up walking Cookie for a bit tonight, but nothing more than 10-15 minutes. The puppies slept through the night last night and the only "accidents" we've had in the house today were with the younger one and they were all on the housebreaking pads. So, the rest and lack of clean ups were highly therapeutic.

What really wiped me out (aside from puppy walking and "wear them out" levels of play)...the first trip to the vet, bath time, food aggression training, and some unexpected pest grooming. Voodoo appears to be flea free, but the vet found some flea dirt and a live flea on Cookie. They both were treated by the shelter and can't get another treatment for a few weeks...so it's on me. I went through her coat with a lice/flea comb during her bath. I decided to give her another treatment with our vacuum lice comb (invested in one after one of the older kid's friends brought them into our house twice in a 6 month period). Gross and a ton of work/physical effort when it involves wrestling a freaked out puppy. The whole thing involved a bath, basic combing, hair dryer, vacuum comb, and the actual vacuum for the rug/carpet in the areas where she's allowed. So much fun! We should ALL sleep well tonight.

It would be fine except at rush hour. EWR would be perfect if you dh gets transferred to NYC. Good luck

That is so good they are having so few accidents.

Fleas are so stressful to deal with. I used to work as a dog groomer a loooong time ago and I got my mini poodle through that job. I was permitted to bring him in with me to work. I had to stop, because even though he never had direct contact with the dogs I was grooming, he was getting fleas. I had a toy poodle at the time, too. So he would get fleas from the mini poodle. I got tired of bombing my house twice a month, so I just started leaving my mini poodle at home. I'm getting itchy thinking about it.

I flew United once, 20 years ago. Like you, we mostly fly American and Southwest. I prefer Southwest over American. The service is so much better.

I'll see how far I get with either of these airlines. Delta is only hiring foreign language speakers right now. I'm kind of having second thoughts. I watch a few Flight Attendant channels on You Tube and these people seem...vapid and obnoxious. They wear so much make up. Yes, I understand you need to look presentable, but when you are giving a drag queen a run for his money, you need to tone it down. Who wears fake eyelashes everyday? I don't. I never have and I never will. Then one You Tuber gave a demonstration on how to walk, pose and sit at a face to face interview. OMG. NO. She was strutting and then popping her hip out while putting a hand on her hip at the end of her strut. :hilarious: I would struggle to contain my laughter if I saw someone doing that. I hoping the majority of legacy flight attendants aren't like this. This is just a small fraction of them on YT--that's what I keep reminding myself.

Hello-

I did a 40 minute yoga practice this morning. I had a stomach ache, so I kept it simple. I'll probably try to get out for a sunny stroll later.

I am making date-sweetened brownies today. I am a little skeptical. They are cooling in the pan, but the texture is kind of springy/bouncy. I took a little taste of the batter and they are not very sweet, but I have to glaze them yet. I'll see how they turn out, otherwise this was a waste of dates. :cautious: :hilarious:

So the date brownies came out way better than I expected! Once they cooled, they became fudge like in texture. The glaze bumped up the tastiness factor, too. My son complained about the sea salt, yet when I went downstairs to put them away over half of the batch was gone. They must have been horrible.

And I checked on my application status at United and it says "Video interview invitation sent." I haven't received the email yet. I have five days to do it. I do feel confident to talk to my laptop again, as awkward as it is. I am doing it for the practice. My first choice is AA, since I can request a transfer to Philly if I don't get it straight out of the gate.

I know our area is also prone to fleas and since we're already springtime warm here and we're so densely forested, it makes it vital that we get this under control. I did another vacuum combing on her today and she came up clean, so that's positive. Our pest control company was just out here last week. If need be, I can have them come out and do a flea treatment on the yard, but I'm really hoping to have no indoor issues. The majority of their time is limited to areas with tile and wood flooring. The one rug in this area is getting vacuumed at least once a day. But I agree...just the mere idea that she could still have fleas is making me feel a bit crawly.

Funny, those videos you described almost sound like a time warp back to the 60s, for example, with the heavy makeup routine. I know nothing about their hiring guidelines, but what I can tell you as a passenger, is that the majority of flight attendants appear average (no beauty queens), and are pleasant. Being attractive in any profession may be helpful, but I think they really want to hire people who can interact with the public, in a professional manner that represents the airline.
