I'm only 27, but due to sports (specifically softball catching) through high school, my knees are also less than perfect. I've ran a bunch in the past, including maybe 10 half marathons and 2 full marathons... but I probably want to stick to the 10k races these days lol. My body seems to be responding well to the longer walks.
Sounds good. You will definitely melt off some pounds with the walking. My DH and I try to get in long walks in the evenings. It helps him unwind from work and get in some steps too. Plus, an added benefit for my asthma and high blood pressure.

Hi everyone! Haven't really ever posted here before. I've unfortunately always struggled a bit with my weight and have recently been getting back into it. Happy to report I'm down 11 pounds in a little over a month! I probably still need to lose another 35 or so to get back to my goal weight, but I am happy with the good start.

I've been really cutting back on carbs and that seems to help a lot. In the past I used to run a lot, but I'm even finding success just going for a 45 min walk every evening when I get home for when I don't feel like doing something so "strenuous".
Welcome! Cutting back on carbs does help a lot. I've discovered zoodles are amazing!! SO so good and not as much work as I was expecting. Good for you for losing so much already!

Yes! I think you need to move around and not sit all day but not so that you are exhausted every evening. Maybe up your protein to give you energy. Take breaks when you can. Good luck. Hope you feel some more energy soon!
Protein! I didn't even think of that, but that's probably a good idea. I've been focusing so much on healthy snacks that my protein is probably not really high. Especially on work days. I have half fat yogurt with blueberries and oats for breakfast, a piece of fruit for a snack, half of a whole-grain bagette with a bit of olive oil and seasoning salt for lunch (baked), and I got some rice cakes on sale this week for an after work snack, but dinner is so hard. By dinner time, I've already been going for 10 hours....I don't have the energy to cook a big meal. But I'm thinking there's probably not much protein in that diet, and quite a lot of carbs....I will have to take a look at that, thank you!!

You’re welcome! And you can thank my DD. She told me to add some at each meal whether it’s yogurt, beans, fish, chicken in order to get my energy levels up. So I have and it works! 😁

Is there such a thing as TOO much exercise? They've changed the schedule again, and I'm scheduled every day this week, and every day next week except Friday because it's a holiday. I worked every day but Friday last week, too, and I went in early and stayed late. I'm so tired!!!! So how much is too much?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take a zen day or 2 to let your muscles repair.

Listen to your body! I have had both knees scoped and one more than once.

Winter seems to be back so Lots of Leslie Sansone and yoga with Adrienne. Tonight aduke beans with ginger, onions, garlic, broccoli, miso and a bit of wakame. I'm still deciding between brown rice or quinoa. As usual it will most likely be what my human garbage disposals leave me:banghead:

Good for you! Eleven pounds is a lot, so whatever your method, it's working. As for the walking, you can indeed get in shape and drop weight. Many doctors recommend it over running, for some people. It's a very healthy sport and not hard on your knees and ankles either.

Sorry but what are aduke beans and wakame?
The aduke are just a small bean with a mild flavor that supposedly has more protein and fiber. I call it what was on sale plus coupon LOL. W in that when it goes in liquid it form small squaresakame is dried seaweed, sort of like shredded nori

Smart girl, your DD!! I hadn't noticed that I wasn't eating much protein...I was so focused on not eating fat and sugary, but still making sure I got fiber. I tried eating plain yogurt for a while, but I just can't....I tried for like 3 months to choke it down every morning with some fruit, and I just don't like it. So now I get vanilla, but is there protein in yogurt? I'll have to see if I can get some low sodium turkey slices or something to go with my lunch for protein.

I wish I could. I'm scheduled every day this week, every day next week except for Friday (King's Day) and I was scheduled every day last week except Friday (DH's birthday). We're so completely swamped at work...we got a record number of orders last Monday, so they asked everyone to come in early if they could or stay late. So I got 3 extra hours in just by coming in 30 minutes early and staying 15 minutes late the whole week, and then I'm scheduled every work day for the next 2 weeks as well. So between work, school runs, and just the daily stuff....laundry, grocery shopping, meal prep, etc., I'm on the go about 10 hours out of the day, and there's nothing I can cut out to have a zen day. I'm going to Germany to visit a friend the first weekend in May, so I do have some downtime scheduled, but not for a few weeks.

Good morning it's slippery and wet out so today is yoga, yoga and more yoga.
Still? Tell mother nature to go home....she's obviously drunk! It's supposed to be 84 degrees here tomorrow!! We don't usually get this warm until July! And even then, that's a pretty high temperature for here. So we have extreme heat for this time of year, and you have extreme cold. What is UP with that?

Yes! Just look at your labels and it will tell you how many grams of protein is in it. I eat Siggi’s brand skyr which is a thicker yogurt. I love the berry flavors. They have a vanilla too. The strawberry has 15g of protein.
And our grocer carries Boar’s Head lunchmeats in our deli that has no salt added turkey and lower sodium turkey. So hopefully your grocer has a brand that is good.

My DD and DH both have schedules like you all the time! Lol They say they will rest when they can—maybe next year. :) I make sure DH eats right, walks when he gets home, and relaxes at night before bed. He likes to read so that is putting some zen back in his life. ;)

Kinda makes me wonder about myself, here you folks are eating fish food in an effort to remain healthy** and I am eating eggs that are listed as "possible" contamination. I either have a death wish or a highly developed sense of denial. I'll let you know (hopefully) in a few days.
Does eating that fish food make you healthier or just a really strong swimmer? ;)
