Hi there,

I completed my work out today and I don't know what's wrong with me, but I was struggling a bit. Maybe I am coming down with something? It's over, thankfully. o_O

I live directly across the street from a large convent and they have a statue of the Virgin Mary out front. Sometimes, the nuns come down the long driveway to pray to her. I notice they do this after a tragedy. Today, I kept seeing them come down to pray and I was wondering to myself, are they praying because of the incoming Nor'easter? :hilarious: Since I am inland, I am not so worried about the weather itself, but that stream that I live next to worries me a bit.

The Weather Channel is such a drama load, too. They hype up every winter storm to herald the eschaton. :cautious::rolleyes:
You should be fine where you are except for maybe power. Good luck xoxo

Good luck to you, too. The only weather phenomenon that truly frightens me is tornadoes. There is very little in the way of warning and you can't evacuate. You just have to hunker down in place and wait for the all clear siren. I do not miss Spring and early Summer in the Midwest at all. :)

So I told my wife that with the coming warmer weather, I wanted to get some new walking shoes or cross trainers and start wearing them to get them broken in.
I am a creature of habit and don't handle change very well, so the idea of trying to find new shoes was not something I was looking forward to.
I did a little online research and it turns out the shoes I wear every day are highly rated for walking, with good support and cushioning. I told my wife this and she went to the closet and brought out a brand new pair of my shoes, in the box, New Balance 608v4. She said the last time she bought me shoes, she went ahead and bought two pair because she knew I would want the same ones next time, plus they were buy one pair, get one pair half price.
I am so blessed, and I don't have to go shoe shopping. Win, win.

I got a new pair of walking shoes, too. I really liked the last pair I bought and they are still available. I bought a new pair in a different color and I went walking in them yesterday. I do my shoe shopping online. I dislike shoe shopping, too.

Grilled some red hots the other day and had some leftovers so I took some of them, removed the charred casings, diced them up and sauteed with some onion and jalapenos. Added some salsa and reduced it till the liquid was gone. Served it with some eggs and cheese and drizzled it all with Tiger Sauce. Really good and something different from boring ole eggs and sausage or eggs and bacon. Also took some of the red hot hash and did a scramble for my wife and she liked it as well, but said I put too much Tiger Sauce on hers. Dr. says a high protein breakfast is the most important meal of the day...might as well be flavorful too!

My wife lived in Tulsa for a while when she was a kid and her stepdad relocated for a job. Lived in some other areas like Ocala, FL and Rochester, NY among others too. While out in Tulsa, a tornado mostly destroyed the area they lived in. To this day she is frightened of tornadoes and refuses to watch the Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton movie "Twister."

I know how your wife feels. When I was 16, the town next to mine got pummeled by the only F-5 tornado to hit the Chicagoland area. It was a fatal and destructive storm. At that point in my life, I had not seen the aftermath of a powerful tornado so close to me. I had always seen footage on the national news in places far away. I think since I was young when it happened, it stayed with me.

Hi everyone. Just taking it easy watching baseball. So happy I can watch a game. We were worried that we may not get the Braves on Slingtv but I do nd it today. Hopefully that will continue.
The winds started last night and have gusted all day. I keep tjink No that they might die down, but then there is a heavy gust. DH is handling local outages right now. There are a lot of trees down. Going to be a long day and maybe night.
Dinner will be quick for me-just leftover Falafel and veggies.

Although, I feel for all of you, it seems to be overpowered by the happy glow from my decision to move south. Bright sunny day today. Temps a little chilly in the mid 50's and quite windy, but, otherwise all is fine. Now that I'm done gloating please except my sincere hope that you all stay safe and warm.

No need to feel guilty. As soon as we're dug out I'm running away from home and will drop my boys with you on the way down. Really missing the green grinning emoji

Hello-

I did an hour long MMA/kickboxing work out. 🥊

The weather was a little rough today. I went out to Costco and it was windy and rainy. By the time I got out of there, it was windy and snowing. I still have power. I am concerned about all the oak trees in my yard and on the side of my house, though. I might sleep in the spare room tonight. I am kind of worried about a tree crashing down into my bedroom.

My hometown was half destroyed by a tornado in 2005. I was already over here at the time. So, my dad's side of the family was going to have a big reunion...my dad's family has a colorful past, I guess you could say. My g-g-grandfather was kind of a jack of all trades....preacher, fur trapper, stone mason (he built 3 of the churches he preached in, and his own home) and he was also secretary of State of Kansas for a while. He had something like 13 children, 8 living to adulthood. When I moved over here, I started doing genealogical research into my family tree and found these distant cousins. My g-grandfather had been married (or maybe not) to my g-grandmother, and fathered a child (my grandfather), but apparently he never knew about his son. (I know, scandal, right? Especially in the late 1800s early 1900s) So my grandfather lived with his mother's parents for the first several years of a life, when one day, his mom shows up with a new husband and says they are moving to colorado. He had a half sister that he was very close to, and on their way to Colorado, she got some illness and his mother and the new husband belonged to some religious group that did not believe in doctors and medicine. The girl died. So my grandfather had been ripped out of the home with his grandparents and watched his sister die...he ran away as soon as he was old enough. He eventually homesteaded in Wyoming. But as an adult, he went and looked up his biological father who was shocked to meet him, not having known about him....couldn't deny him though as he was the spitting image of him, and it turned out he also had a half brother. I discovered all this from the family when I was doing the genealogy, on a website. We visited the family and saw the house my g-g-grandfather built (the cousins still live there on the farm), as well as one of the churches, and we visited his grave. They planned this big reunion for 2005 and invited my father, who they hadn't seen in decades. My father had talked about nothing but this reunion for months. He always called me a couple of times a week, and he made sure to remind me every time that he wouldn't be able to call for a couple of weeks in August because he'd be at the reunion. Fast forward to the tornado....it was half a mile long and there was only warning about a minute or 2 before it hit the town...most people didn't have time to take adequate cover. People in the trailer park didn't have time to get out and go to friends' houses with a basement. The trailer park was all but destroyed...very little was left of it. My dad lived on a ranch 20 miles out. So when I heard about the Tornado, I was SOOOOO relieved that dad was at this family reunion because that meant he was in Kansas, FAR away from the tornado in Wyoming. Then my cousin sends me an email...she's worried, because she heard about the tornado and my dad never showed up for the reunion. I panicked, started trying to call...phone lines were down. I emailed everyone I knew that knew dad....had they seen him, talked to him, did anyone know if he was ok. After 2 days, I finally got ahold of him....he had decided not to go to the reunion because the truck was due for an oil change, and well, he didn't want to take the time to get it done before he left but didn't want to make a long trip like that without changing the oil first, so he decided to take a nap instead. He woke up, and half the roof on his trailer was gone and all the windows had been knocked out by hail stones....he hadn't even woken up. He "guessed they had gotten quite a storm at some point" . He had no clue a tornado had totaled his house...he had it insured, so he was going to get a new one. That's all he said about it...oh yeah, we must have gotten quite a storm here, and it ripped the roof off the house and broke all the windows, but it's insured, so I'll get a new one. I'm like...REALLY, dad? You slept through a TORNADO because you didn't want to drive into town to get the oil changed??? It was just...so totally my dad. Now it's quite funny since he was obviously fine, so it's just an amusing anecdote about my dad. I can just shake my head. But at the time, I probably yelled at him...I don't remember actually, I was so worried, and then so relieved he was fine.
