That's crazy. It's never any fun cleaning up entire trees and boughs. How did your dogs fare the storm?

They went nuts. They did not whimper and try to hide or anything, they aggressively barked at all the noise the whole time. We tried calming them down, but whenever they were not in our laps, they were barking. I guess they were defending us from the noise.

Wow that was a mess. We have some areas that still look like that here too. My DH is still working on power restoration here.
Someone told my DH today that that is what is happening in FL. The power crews are having to work on clearing the roads before they can even get to putting the lines back up. It is just horrible. I am so glad your power came back on and you guys are safe down there. :)

They are saying some people here may not have power back until Sunday. People who work tirelessly to restore power are heroes too, as are the people clearing roadways so the first responders and power crews can get in to do their work.
We are lucky to have only been out of power briefly. My best friend in Macon has been without power since Monday. Luckily he has a generator to power the well pump for water, and has run an extension from it to the fridge so the food is not spoiling. He says keeping the kids entertained is the big challenge, that and the humidity.

I just noticed if you look to the right of the ribs photo you can see some downed limbs. Those are in the woods past the yard, where we lost a big oak tree. The view from the deck has changed dramatically.

Aww..they were defending you from the noise. What sweet cuties you have.

My last dog went nuts with storms, especially in the middle of the night. I was kind of relived when he lost some of his hearing as he got older, because he stopped all of his panting and pacing in the middle of the night during a storm.

You might have walked that much. I go for a walk for an hour and 10-15 minutes in the morning and I come back with 11-12K steps. If you are moving around, back and forth for an hour and 45 minutes, I can see how you might get 17K.
Well, I was moving around and riding my bike and walking back and forth for 7 or 8 HOURS and my cracker says I was only active for 1 hour and 45 minutes....THAT'S what I think is ridiculous. I'm SURE I walked those 17,000 steps...possibly more. But why does my cracker only record less than 2 hours of activity when I was moving the whole day? I took the kids to school at 8 by bike, then went straight from the school to my work. I work from 9 to 2 with a 15 minute break at 10:15 and a 30 minute break at 12:30. Then I bike back to the school, then we bike home. We got home a little after 3 and I walked to the grocery store, did my shopping and walked back home. I had just gotten home and had to take DS to his therapy, so we rode our bikes there, then I sat from 4 to 5 while he was in therapy and we rode our bikes back home, I went to pick up fish, then came back. It was after 5:30 when I got home. So from 8 to 5:30 I was active except for that hour and 45 minutes. I was literally moving that whole time...so why did it only register and hour and 45 minutes of movement? That's how much I was still! So something is not right.

Hello-

Today is rest day. I woke up with a stiff neck. LOL I am going to walk later. I had men here repairing the roof (again). We have skylights in our living room and one was leaking the last time it rained. It turns out all three were installed incorrectly. LOL The roofers also told us we have raccoons living in our attic. He did something to their entrance point, so they can't come in. I had no idea, I haven't heard any commotion up there at all. :jawdrop:

I felt like macarons today, to keep in practice. I folded the batter a little longer than usual, just to see what would happen and I used a new baking sheet and an old baking sheet. I bake each sheet one at a time, because it seems like they cook evenly when there is one sheet in the oven. Anyway, first up was the new baking sheet. When I took out the macarons, they were flat and dull with small feet. I thought maybe I over-folded the batter and I put the other sheet in, which is the older one. When I took them out, they were beautiful--perfect feet and glossy shells. I let them cool and I went to take them off the sheets and the flat ones were under cooked. They took forever to finish cooking and now they are so brittle. Boo. At least the other half came out very well--delicate with a nice chew. I just look at it as troubleshooting and eventually they'll come out fine. I don't think humid weather helps, either. LOL
Is the new cookie sheet different than the old one? Did you change the temp or cooking time with the second sheet? If nothing changed but the cookie sheet, I'd say it can't be the humidity that messed up the first one. I find certain types of baking pans/sheets deliver different results. I find which one works for that particular type of baking and I use it. Like....my mom's old non-teflan bread pans work better than the newer ones with the non-stick coating for poppyseed bread, but the newer ones work better for zucchini bread. If the older ones work better for the macarons, see if you can find one like the older one maybe?
And sorry about the raccoons and the skylights. When were the skylights installed? That seems like something the building company should pay for!!

I have a Crock-Pot best loved recipes Slow Cooker Recipes book. It has some really yummy and easy recipes. Usually everything is just thrown in there and cooked. I love it!
Evidence that I really need a crockpot!!! But they are so hard to find here and EXPENSIVE. I always see great recipes for them, though, and I'm like OOOOH, that looks good! And then it says "crock pot" on it. :arghh:

Mine has chicken thighs, diced tomatoes, green chiles, onion, garlic, cumin, chicken broth and s&p to taste. Shred chicken, then add corn tortilla strips and cilantro (opt.) stir and top with m jack cheese, lime juice and avocado slices.
This sounds more like what my Mexican friends taught me. But theirs also had hamburger in it, and they serve the tortilla strips on the side so they don't get soggy. And they use both ancho and serranos chiles. It's amazing with fresh homemade tortillas....yum!

They are both at the groomer today, getting their long hair trimmed. Maltipoos get matted very easily and their fur grows kinda fast. It is always funny when they come home with freshly trimmed, short hair. They both kinda prance around, I guess with more freedom of movement since they don't have the matted fur pulling at their skin.
My haircut - $13. Their's - $40 each.
