Hope everyone has a safe and fun Labor Day holiday, gets lots of exercise and eats healthy too. Be careful my northeastern friends as I understand this storm is headed that way. It stayed south of us though we are getting a little wind, but more of a slight breeze than anything.
THNX I'm heading out shopping today just in case. You just never know with that type of storm. It seems to have a mind of it's own

Good morning I'm taking it easy today. I did a nice short am yoga practice but will be doing lots of walking later today. I'm going to a Farm Market with a flea market next door and doing some other shopping while I'm out. Seeing nobody seems to know what will become of Hermine once it passes into the Atlantic I'm going to get my errands run today just in case the stores jam up tomorrow. We all still nightmares about Sandy up here and I'm afraid there may be a bit of panic tomorrow. With any luck I'll get in another practice when I get home. Have a wonderful holiday weekend and stay safe

I was joking last night on Facebook that a Tropical Storm was new thing for me, since I am used to other inclement weather. I am hoping it's not too bad. My property line on one side is the north branch of the Cooper River, but it's on a slope. I am hoping that's in my favor. I am worried about the trees, My lot is heavily wooded with very mature trees. I think I will go to the shops today, too. JIC.

Sandy was a direct hit, though, right? This looks like a glancing blow. But I confess to not knowing much about hurricanes, since I am a Midwestern lass. LOL

Did 30 minutes of kickboxing last night, then made Creole shrimp (garlic, red pepper, lemon, creole seasoning) with leftover brown rice from the night before.

Yes, I like shrimp! Hubby doesn't eat it at all, so it's my go-to when I'm on my own for dinner--it's healthy, it's light, it defrosts and cooks quickly, and I have dozens of different recipes, so it doesn't always feel like I'm eating the same thing night after night. :)

It's a beautiful morning! Yesterday evening's heavy rain seems to have washed away the humidity. I'll get some walking in today.

I love shrimp, too, but rarely make it myself. My husband doesn't like it, either. So, I only eat it when we get carry outs or go out to eat.

Variety? On a cruise? You could stay on a cruise for months and never eat the same thing twice if you didn't want too. As for motion sickness, I just came across the Atlantic and although there were times when you could feel a slight movement, it wasn't really very intense and to me was more like a gentle rocking chair. On the first cruise I ever was on, we were sailing to the Bahama's and found ourselves in the middle of a gale. The sea was black and very rough looking, but, the ship remained completely stable like it was sitting on concrete or something. I'm sure those little "patches" that are available would more then make up for whatever movement one might encounter.
I think what scares me in terms of food is that I won't find anything I like and I'll be stuck in middle of the ocean for a week with nowhere to go to get food. I also fear going site seeing and not making it back to the boat, and it sails off without me...which is silly because I DON'T have that fear with a bus or a plane. I know, it's completely irrational.

Hello-

We're back from DC. I haven't worked out since Tuesday, BUT I have done loads of walking. Yesterday, my son and I walked loads. We walked to the Mall from our hotel to the National Gallery, then the Washington moment, the Lincoln monument and then to the Potomac. We watched planes approach from there, went the FDR memorial, walked a bit along the Tidal Basin and finally called an Uber back to our hotel. I wanted to keep going, but my son was struggling with the humidity. He was crimson and drinking water like it was going out of fashion. I think he's one of those people who can't tolerate the heat. We did go out for dinner later on and walked to the White House. All in all, a pleasant trip.

We walked a bit today, too, since it was a bit cooler and not as intensely sunny.

I will get back to my workouts tomorrow, for sure. :)
You don't consider the walking a workout?
I'm the same as your son...my body can't handle the heat. When we were in South Dakota, it got up over 103F and I was miserable. I felt wretched with a headache, nausea, etc. Then in Florida, it wasn't quite as hot, but it's so humid...I turn bright red in the heat. Several people approached me to tell me I might want to reapply sunscreen, or to offer me some. I kept having to explain that it wasn't sunburn, just my complexion in heat.

Good evening everyone.

Monday was an off day. I was sore and short on time. Got a 45 minute walk in on Tuesday, and also went to the grocery store for some snacks in my car. I got granola bars, cereal bars, protein bars, and Pringles. So if I want something healthy, I can do that, but I've got the option for chips if I want them. I still have some Goldfish and Ritz crackers with cheese filling as well. I put the chips behind something in the car, though, so the first thing I see is the healthy stuff, but if I really want chips, I'm not restricting myself entirely.

Wednesday was another off day. My neck has been sore, and it was really bad Wednesday, so I took the evening off. Today I went to that lovely fitness center at school that I've barely used in the three years I've been there and used the recumbent bike for 45 minutes of cardio. I was tired afterward, but no soreness.

Until the neck soreness goes away, I'm sticking with doing the cardio and the walking. No strength training until the soreness gets better.
Be safe! And you might want to check the labels on the granola/cereal bars...some are fine, but others are LOADED with sodium and sugars.

I hope it misses you!! I saw just about an hour or 2 ago that it has been downgraded to a tropical storm, but still no fun. Stay safe!

If you get a list of the foods that are available on any given cruise you will find that they have the ingredients to make just about anything that you can make and chances are good that they do that daily. Unless it's baked worms I cannot think of any food item that I didn't see on the ships buffets. Anyway, it is really not a realistic fear as far as I can tell, but, if you feel it, well you do and unless you test it, you will never see differently. Not to mention that every cruise ship has a formal dining room(s), a huge constantly operating buffet, multiple full service restaurants, snack bars and places to buy other food items. The only way that you would not find something is if you were comatose.;)

As far as the boat leaving without you, you are never that far away to begin with and unlike 30 years ago communication is almost foolproof. If for some reason you are delayed for a foreseeable time frame, they will wait. You use your ticket to scan when you leave and scan again when you return. They know who is off the ship, when you left, and when you have returned. All you have to do is let them know, if delayed. I know that we waited in port 2 hours in Barcelona for a person that was joining the cruise there. They even told us why we were waiting. No one cared, that's what the buffets were for.

Hello-

I am in with an arm and ab circuit. I am really struggling with the abs section. This is not a workout for women with long torsos! LOL I just do the best I can with what I have.

I got an electric pressure cooker (Instant Pot) and I am going to try it out later. Hopefully, I won't blow up my house.

We are going to Longwood Gardens tonight to see this projection mapping show they do on the landscape. It sounds intriguing and I am glad the weather is wonderful for now.

I do consider walking exercise. :) I am just doing this 12 week program where every other day is resistance training and I missed it yesterday. I did consider walking all over DC my cardio on Tuesday and had a sangria with dinner. ;)

103 in SD! Yikes. I used to live in Tempe, AZ, so I haven't experience temps like that since I left. Yeah, Florida is definitely humid. I feel like when you're at WDW, you're in an out of the AC. On Wednesday, we were out in the sun and swampiness for about 3 hours straight. We started out in the National Gallery of Art, which was a bit chilly inside, then we were outside the rest of the time. He asked me if we could get an Uber and I said yes. He looked so miserable.

Sandy was bigger and much stronger. Just make sure you have a few days of water and food in case you lose power. Good luck and stay safe.

I'm skipping a formal workout until I see what type of shape I'm in after helping to change our well pump. At least the store where we'll get our new one from is around the corner from the farm market. I made out really well at the one I went to yesterday but I do need more tomatoes, eggs and eggplant. I wound up using more eggplant than planned last night:joyfull: On a much happier note I found 2 cookbooks by Madhur Jaffrey at the library yesterday. It's a library I almost never go to because it's way out of the way. Our library has an arrangement where if you're a member of either you can borrow from either and return to either. BTW the books are World Vegetarian and Vegetarian India.

This one looks good, too. Maybe for your next library visit -- :D

Longwood Gardens is gorgeous.

I don't have any kind of slow or pressure cooker because I'm afraid I'll blow up the house. ;) :P

You guys stay safe, too!

Yeah, we went to the shops yesterday and picked up some water and non-perishable items. My husband is refilling the propane tank so he can grill if the power is out for a while--at least that's his excuse. LOL

It was gorgeous. They do this thing called "Nightscape" and it's projection mapping onto the trees and bespoke music. You follow this path and there's a new set around each corner. They made these trees look like they went through the seasons with this soaring soundtrack. It was very moving.

I only made basmati rice to start. But it was great. I am going make refried beans tomorrow. :)

I have some Madhur Jeffrey recipes somewhere. One is a type of chili, but I only eat it when my husband is on work trips. He doesn't care for it.
