Good morning. Checking in with Leslie Sansone's 5 fat burning miles. I have some quinoa with apples in the slow cooker for breakfast and I'm packing a salad with beans for lunch(yuck canned beans haven't had time to do any major cooking yet) and dinner will be leftover veggie curry.

I'm far from an expert on this subject, but I have read that the best indicator for anyone is the test for body fat amount. (There's a few ways to do that--small calipers are one.) I think it's referred to as BMI (body mass index).

As you stated, pounds on the scale only give one component of overall healthy size, and don't take into consideration everything else, including bone structure, etc.
There's actually a lot of problems with BMI. I've been researching it as well. It was actually developed in the 1840s, so it's a very old method. It doesn't take into account muscle, and for people like me, who carry a lot of muscle, it tends not to be a good indicator. It doesn't take into account bone structure, which means it can give a false overweight or false underweight for some people. In some cases, it can also fail to alert people who are of normal weight but can be carrying too much fat.

I've been looking at alternatives to BMI, and for my body type, waist to hip ratio seems to be the best indicator of how I'm doing if I want numbers. Even just measuring my waist also seems to be a good indicator rather than stepping on a scale.

I'm really glad that life is calming down a bit for you lately. It must be exciting to decorate your new house, too.

Thank you. :) We moved in on Tuesday and it was just a stressful time. I went completely offline for a few days. I didn't respond to non-essential email and I even deactivated my Facebook account for two days. I was feeling overwhelmed. I came back online Thursday. I contacted a friend and since then, he's decided to ignore me. I tried different avenues, but no joy. I explained why I went offline--no response. I really despise the silent treatment. :(

Sometimes they're a joke with their prices. However, other times, you really can get some great buys there. There have been times that I've price compared things like brand name coffee pots, for example, with them and other stores like Bed Bad and Beyond, and Lowes, to name a few. Sometimes when Kohls has a good sale, and then has 15-20% coupons off in addition to that, you really can save money.

That's a good point about the brand name items and that's a great deal. My mom will buy my son Kohl branded clothes and since I do the laundry, I see first hand how quickly their stuff breaks down after a few washes. I don't want to tell her to stop buying him clothes from there, because she will take offense. So, I keep quiet. LOL

I hate to point out the obvious, but, if there is no reason for it... that is no friend. Just a jack*** you happen to know. OR maybe they had a situation that caused them to shutdown for a couple of days. Don't jump to conclusions until you have been able to establish the reason.

My goodness, after the past few weeks, no wonder you were overwhelmed. It's good to take a break from anything (including the forums) and rest a bit. I'm not sure what's going on with your friend, as I don't know him or any of the background between the two of you. Maybe he'll come around in a while. Just give him some space and see what happens. (Note: I really hope he has a good reason for not responding; because otherwise, if he was just miffed that you weren't as accessible as you were before the big move, etc., then that would be selfish on his end.)

I didn't workout today, because my abs and chest are still so sore from Friday! I looked at my workout for today and there are loads of push ups. NOPE. I did go for another walk, just to get an idea of the "lay of the land." There aren't really any sidewalks here and it seems like every street is a dead end.

My car was delivered last week and I have yet to use it. I'm always afraid of messing up and trying to go left, when I should have used a jug handle. We don't have jug handles in Illinois. :cautious: <- this is my favorite smilie, btw. It cracks me up.

A lot of the jug handles are old circles. Jug handles can be confusing but some of the circles were really dangerous! Believe it or not they're an improvement!:cautious: just for you LOL

Good morning my body clock is still a bit off, I crashed early last night and was up a bit early even for for me:hilarious: At least I made the most of it by doing Leslie Sansone's 5 advanced miles (the one with weights and stretch bands). Seeing I didn't use any weights on vacation (just yoga) I'm easing my way back into weights. I have camponata in the slow cooker now and will do lots and lots of cooking today. I'm going to try and make gf/allergy free naan today along with a few sauces including a mango chutney. Thanks a lot @epcotisbest:rolleyes: Thanks to you my dh wants that with dinner tonight.:cautious::cautious::cautious: I'm also going to make baked falafel and a very large salad for meatless Monday.
