I wish I had some good suggestions for you. In my case, all I really like is walking--especially walking in the woods. Being outdoors makes me happy and I never get bored, because there's always something different to see. Winter is really fun with the snow; I like traipsing through it (I don't like ice, but I love snow). Actually I do get some upper muscle workout in winter when I shovel snow, too. :) Sometimes, in spring or fall, I'll ride my bicycle one day on the weekends. During the work week, I walk a lot, too, between public transportation connections, and I sometimes I walk around a lot at work in different locations. That's about it for me.

I don't do the exercise videos like you and Figgy do. Maybe @figmentfan423 might have some suggestions for you, as you two tend to mix things up with exercise videos at home.
Well, I do love walking, but it's not really practical here to go walking outside because it rains so much of the time. I need something I can do inside on the days when it's rainy (which is most of the time). If it snows 3 times a year here, that's a lot. I do love snow, though I don't like the cold. But when it DOES snow here, it rarely sticks for more than a couple of hours. Then it's just a slushy, muddy mess. Not prime walking conditions. I want low impact because of my hip, at least until I get in better shape and see how my hip holds up. But I HAVE to have something I can do inside and I need to build up because I haven't been able to do much for the last 8 months.

Walked today, did some yard work, mowed grass, used the backpack blower to blow spring debris off the road, used the pressure washer on the carport, driveway and part of the back deck and trimmed some limbs with the chainsaw. I am counting that as the weekend workout.
Sounds like a decent workout to me!! Yard work is always hard on the body.

I'm hoping it stays dry enough to go walking with DD this afternoon. She did my workout with me yesterday. I was so proud of her...10 minutes of Pilates and then 50 minutes of walking, so a whole hour...not bad for a 9 year old. It's so cute though...she's very uncoordinated and the side step and the tap were really confusing for her. She finally got the side step down and then it started moving forward and backward with the sidestep and she just couldn't do it, so she just did the regular sidestep. But I'm proud of her for making it through the whole workout and she wants to go walking with me this afternoon. I sprayed my outdoor walking shoes, so we are ready!

I did a 10 minute Pilates warm-up today and then did the fat burning 3 mile walk...same one I did yesterday. Eventually I want to add on...I'm new to Pilates and the warm up is really easy. But eventually, I want to be able to do the walk and then a 10 minute ab workout after that, alternating on days...one day the abs, one day a 30 min Pilates workout, which is why I got the yoga mat. Then once I can do all that, I'd like to try some other things so I don't get bored doing the same things over and over, and I'm told that helps with plateaus, too...that if you constantly change it up, your body doesn't have time to get used to any one thing, which is why you plateau. Thoughts, advice, tips?
I've found changing things up has helped and lots and lots of low carb veggies are the best things for those nasty plateaus. BTW they're going to happen from time to time no matter what you do so don't give up sometimes your body just has to reset itself and the more you lose the longer it's going to take for weight to come off. The smaller the body the less calories it's going to use so that's why it's important to build muscle. Muscle burns more calories than fat. Jillian Michael's No More Trouble Zones is good for building muscle and I think it's now on youtube. You might want to do some hiit once you're up to it. LS has a one mile interval on youtube and she has a few walk to the hits on dvd. As always check with your doctor.

Seeing it's raining it's my weekly zen day, nothing but day 13 of 30 days of yoga:) It's not like I get to sit on my bum and watch movies today:(:(:( Today is the perfect day to get lots of cooking done so I have an easy week in that department:):):) Baked beans, I'm trying a white bean mayo for the cole slaw, carrot salad(not exactly cooking), stuffed eggplant, green salad and my dh is running the smoker, pork butt, sausage, tofu bacon, and some chicken. I'm also staring at about 10 pounds of tomatoes, I'm going to have to figure out what to do with some of them. Have an excellent rest of your weekend

To be honest, I probably won't really even know when I plateau...at least not for a while. I'm not paying attention to weight. I haven't weighed myself, I'm purely going by measurements and how my clothes fit. But I measured my waist the other day and I was down an inch, so it IS working. Definitely not up to doing Hiit yet!

DD and I took advantage of the semi-nice weather and went for a walk. Not sure how much we did, but we walked for an hour, so I'd guess somewhere around 2.5 to 3 miles. We walked in the Nature park that's near our house, to make it more fun, and it was just really nice to talk to each other about school, and fun things and just what's going on with her. I didn't know a girl in her class got a concussion recently...in Drama class of all things. Who knew acting was so dangerous!? (they were pretending to be a bridge and she had to walk across the bridge and fell and got a concussion) So we bonded and got our exercise in. Then we had Falaffel for dinner...I was a good girl and tried tomatoes in mine, even though I don't like tomatoes. Still not a fan, but it wasn't HORRIBLE. I did draw the line at raw onions, though.

Hello,
My workouts this past week have been spotty, we had our kitchen remodeled and the pool deck is being rebuilt. I don't feel comfortable working out with people I don't know in my house. I have been walking a lot and I did sneak a Body Pump workout here and there. I am hoping this week will be better, even though the deck guys are not done. I am trying to decide on a work out today. There is this dance one I want to try, but I am far too self-conscious to do it in front of my husband. I am not one for dance workouts, but this looks fun and the music is pretty good.

I don't like working out in front of my husband, either. Or when repairmen are there...it is really awkward and I don't do it either. You'll get back to it when the work is done!

I have this yoga set that I was doing religiously a few years ago. When my husband would hear the music from the title screen, he would mysteriously appear with his work lap top and would act like he was working. It was like a cat hearing an electric can opener. I started doing yoga while he was at work. o_O

I wish I still lived in London, because I have hundreds of DVDs and I could have lent them to you. I have been trying to give them away to people I know, but I have had no takers. I'd rather give them to friends first than to Goodwill, the library, etc.

An inch is a lot off your waistline. Good for you. :) And you're right--it 's not just the pounds you see on the scale, it's how your clothes are fitting, too.

Here is my last pork butt. It pulled great, was nice and moist and tender with a good smoke ring, but I only took one photo to send to my brother, then we were busy eating. It went for almost 13 hours at 225-230 degrees to an internal temp of 198 degrees. Made bbq pulled pork sandwiches on bagels. I was really surprised how good the sandwich was with bagels instead of regular buns. Just toast the bagels and put a little butter on it, add the pulled pork, a bit of bbq sauce (but not much as it does not need much sauce), a bit of coleslaw (OK, a lot) and a couple of pickles and you have one tasty bbq sandwich. I could have eaten more than one easily, but too many carbs in those bagels to do that.
How did your husband's latest effort turn out?
