working out for Disney

I'm really wanting to get in shape before our next trip and I had been doing Turbo Jam's Cardio Party workout a few times a week, plus riding my bike to work (about 20 minutes each way) and my job is almost all walking, but I got a tear in the muscle in my hip and haven't been able to work out since then (3 or 4 weeks now?). It's feeling better now, though I still have to be cautious, but I want to start up again. Would it be alright if I joined you here, too?

Sorry to hear about the injury. Hope it heals rapidly. This thread helped me awhile back when I was getting discouraged. Welcome and please post often.

Sorry to hear about the tear. Be careful you have 9 months before your trip so you have time to get in the groove. Cardio jam is really ambitious so be careful and of course you are welcome the more the healthier LOL

I'm down about 45 pounds now but seem to have leveled off. Still walking and watching what I eat, but unfortunately I have been watching a lot of things I have been eating! We got back from a 12 day trip that included Savannah and Orlando, and while in Savannah, we ate just a ridiculous amount of seafood. I love shrimp and grits, and all kinds of fresh seafood is everywhere you turn in Savannah. Did a lot of relaxing by the pool in Orlando and watched myself do a lot of eating there as well.
It is very helpful and encouraging to hear how others are doing and the encouragement from others helps keep my spirits up. Thank you to everyone who offers an encouraging word and inspiration from your accomplishments.
The real struggle is coming with the approach of cold weather. I used to be able to tolerate the cold much better. Now, not so much.

In September, I did two cruises separated by a week and yeah, I hear you about vacation eating. I struggle with the reduction of daylight that comes with the colder weather, too. It makes me fatigued and crave carbs like nobody's business. One of my goals is to use my light box regularly, but you have to use it about before the sun comes up to extend the amount of sunlight in the day. I am struggling waking up the early! I think once my work outs are regular again, I will add in the light box. If I try to modify too many behaviors at once, I invariably fail. LOL

I have Turbo Jam, too! Have you ever tried Turbo Fire? I like the TJ workouts, but I hate the music. There is also too much whooping and hollering and camera mugging. LOL But, I do pull them out when I want to drop a few pounds quickly.

That is so smart! I do better with one change at a time also. Seeing I added back yoga yesterday and kickboxing today tomorrow I'll do one of my regular Leslie Sansone walking DVDs. I must admit I'm loving the tingling in my legs now after getting in today's outside walks. My problem is I have to remember to change things up a bit. Being here will help me do that THNX to all

How's you sugar and are you moving around ? BTW you are so sweet to say that! xoxo
Sugar numbers are still too high, but it is because I am not disciplined enough when it comes to eating sweats, breads, potatoes etc, and have not been exercising enough. This is my fault and correctable, just have to get in the right mind set and stick to it. Thanks for checking and a special thank you for your always positive encouragement.

I have SAD too. I say I just hibernate and eat like a bear before winter. Trying to do better this year.

I'm currently dealing with my sugar numbers and weight going up. I love, love, love bread . It's so hard to stay on the diet . Disney for me is the hardest...they have such great bakery items.

Back away from the bread you can do it! I know you can and you deserve for the sugar to come down!
