On a side note, refresh my memory, what was Odyssey originally? Was it an attraction pavillion? I don't ever remember going in there (my first trip was in 1984) to see an attraction. I vaguely remember WoM and Horizons, but I don't remember ever riding anything in Odyssey...What was the original intent of this building? Don't they use it for corporate functions and events during the F&W festival?

It was a CS restaurant.

And a very small one compared to today's CS restaurants. Seats around 100 semi-comfortably (currently).
Very true. It also currently has kind of a under construction or back room usually used for storage feel to it now. It was quite un-Disney like.

I think they should tear it down and build either a playground or a mega DVC kiosk. As we all know you can just never have too many DVC kiosks in the parks.

They've already done half of that. To the right when you enter Wonders of Life, there is a section where the tables for the restaurant used to be that is shilling Animal Kingdom Lodge DVC. Such a sad state of affairs for a once great pavilion. But, as mentioned, these DVC kiosks Disney's best kept secrets, so don't tell anyone I told you, okay?

I will not tell anyone, I know they are a secret and it is safe with me. Of course you do know why corporate Disney will not acknowledge anything being built at the Contemporary don't you?

That's no hotel, that's a DVC Kiosk...

Why would Disney want to tell them that? DVC is a secret! Most likely they're telling people, "That's no hotel, that's the fifth gate."

I recall Martin (I think) had a video about a stage show put on there.
Yes I do  Futureworld 1990 - available free from Mousebits.com

The Odyssey was a great place to have breakfast, or watch a stage show from the tiered seating. They closed it then added the upper level seating in Electric Umbrella to compensate. I`ve just done a lot of coverage of both Odyssey and Elec Umb for a future Communicore to Innoventions and Odyssey comparisson project. The guest flow and layout in Odyssey is the same, the lighting has changed slightly and the decor changed too, plus all the brass railings have gone off the walkway walls. And of course it used to be a lot lighter with no curtains on the windows. The kitchens are still there since they are also the CMs kitchen for backstage, and even the menu boards and serving counters are intact (thanks, Stacey!)

Back to the OP, as I said the Life building is scheduled to be in use for a good time yet for events. The VIP lounge is still intact and pristine, infact the pavilion is in good shape (even the roof leaks seem to have been plugged) - it`s a great example of a geodisic dome (remember, Futureworlds 4th) and offers a huge uninterrupted show space. It would be ideal for a future pavilion - decor aside. We`ve talked about this many times before, so I`ll just say it`d be a waste if it was demolished.
