Wonders of Life rumored DEMO set for 2008?

Body Wars looks to be the only attraction left that's physically capable of reopening... Cranium has had major parts of its signage removed.

I wonder why they left Body Wars intact? If it was ever going to operate again, surely they'd do it during the F&W Festival, while there are actually people in the pavillion - obviously they're never going to open up the pavillion to the public without some other event going on inside. And if they've left it there intact, then they must have a reason to do so, which presumably doesn't involve demolishing it?

I know everyone says it was time for it to close... but I went for about ten years in between trips at one time, and by the time my most recent stint of visiting regularly began a few years ago WoL was already "operating seasonally". I would have liked to visit it one last time.

Hope they've got some decent plans for the space if it is being demolished. It does feel to me that Future World could do with one extra major attraction, while it's been closed.

I would vote for a updated Horizons to be built in that spot as it has a huge following and we always are looking to the future and that show would fit the bill. What does everyone else think??

For the simple reason that it costs less to wall it off until the space in needed for something else. The same thing happens all over the parks.

I also thought that I read/heard that they were using the Body Wars cars to work on the Star Tours 2.0 show movements.

I have to say I am happy for this

This pavilion was not an original opening day pavilion....it had a very odd layout to it.....theater...thrill ride....sitdown attraction....restaurant..giftshop....?

It was very 80s.....never updated......sponsor left years ago.....restaurant closed...gift shop closed...gradually everything was closed and phased out.

It has no use being these odd little conventions and what-nots.....it still looks terrible the way it is for the food and whine fest.

I'd love it if the mobile on the ceiling went to Innoventions....maybe it will go in Jim McPhee's office! :sohappy:

This pavilion was gonna be killed off no matter what.....no this not a Horizons....not quite....but as much as I miss Horizons....Wonders was a slow and painful death and its time for it to go and have something new in Future World. Horizons 2.0 muahahahaha.

Don't get me wrong--I loved WoL as a kid, and I ran in there on its last operating day to enjoy Body Wars and Cranium Command--but I agree that its time has come. The pavilion was never updated and reeks of the 1980s. If Disney had kept it up throughout the years, it probably never would have been abandoned. Now they might as well build a new pavilion in its place.

As far as demolishing it is concerned, I haven't heard anything about it. But I doubt that it's just going to remain a special events pavilion.

Disney needs to do something to that place...talk about a flop. You can only watch Cranium Command so many times

You can? But of course, then you have to go ride Body Wars! And get disappointed with the Making of Me. And get Goofy About Health. And watch the Anacomical Players!

Okay, so I only saw the Anicomical Players once. But I truly loved Cranium Command and Body Wars.

All but certain to be...

The big DNA strand is gone already. :lookaroun

I hope they don't tear the building down. I can't remember if I was ever in the pavilion when I was younger, but I still have some sort of soft spot for it. Maybe its because I never got to experience it. But in any case, I wish they'd find a way to revitalize the building. "Life & Health" is such a hot topic in today's America...there must be a company somewhere willing to sponsor a pavilion. So many educational opportunities lost...it would be a shame to tear down WoL and bury the health theme forever.

Maybe they could get the all but certain to be President of the United States Hillary Clinton to sponsor the pavillion so it can be a showcase of "great" socialized medicine! :ROFLOL:

Because they still rent it out as convention space, and one of the hilights is that the people at those conventions are allowed to ride body wars if they'd like.

Well WOL wasn't in the Rededication Ceremony, so I wouldn't doubt that new things may be coming our way... :animwink:

I was tempted, but a custodian started walking out. I suppose they have some sort of bouncer incognito as a custodian to brush people away from that area. They were using the queue for Cranium as prep area for the Wine Tastings.

I will always remember WoL as "that new pavilion." I was 12 when I first read a TIME magazine article about the attraction. I actually got to experience it during its first year of operation, and it was a mad house in there! LOTS of people, a very energized space. The line for BODY WARS was over an hour long. (I wasn't all that impressed, btw.)

Contrast that with my next trip, 12 years later. The building was no longer bustling with activity, and resembled a mall food court more than anything else. It amazed me how quickly the paviliion had become dated.

I think the theme of the pavilion was a good one. Perhaps they could keep the human body theme and just rebuild the pavilion as something more visually exciting and organic (kinda like Mission:SPACE's building).

After seeing the way it looks right now and knowing that it is never going to come back in any form or fashion, I hope this rumor is true and the bulldozers will start to do their work soon. This does not need to become the next Odyssey (meaning that the general public gets no use out of the space).
