Hey guys. I hope everyone is sitting down for this great news. If you dont know im in security at Disney. Tonight I had the pleasure of working at Epcot and I got to go in the Living Seas. OMG the place is a mess as they are doing something to the floor in the seabase. Also BOTH of the Hydrolaters (entry and exit) are gone. And Finally two last things. 1. Both theatres are being taken out, all the chairs have been ripped out and (prepare yourself) 2. Its true they are bringing the ride back. there are new pieces of tracks inside where the theatres are and the seacab area is opened. I almost cried with joy when I saw it. I cant wait till its finished. Hope you enjoyed my update.

That's great news...thanks for the information.

One question thought....there were seats in the theater? Wow...maybe I should have paid attention as I was walking through.

If I remember correctly... they were awful wooden benches... but I have not been in those theaters for years.

Nice that place was in major need of an update and I dont think Nemo was the answer. As an aquarist I'd like to see more reef tanks in a grand Disney scale. The 1000 galon reef tank at Sea World located at the ride Atlantis is just pure amazing, hopefully Disney will step up to the pump.

There were indeed wooden benches in there & they hert like heck to sit on. I'm sooooooo happy to see my Seacabs are returning in whatever form they may come in. As for looseing all the sea base alpha story we all knew it had to end some day so let me be the first to say RIP to sea base alpha as we had always known it, it shall be missed. Thank you for the info & can't wait to hear updates on the progress of TLS if you get to work at EPCOT again.

The living sea had many theaters. i saw at least one (when walking backstage) that i have never encountered as a guest, which was as early as 1994. i assumed they used it for special events. i *believe* the cast member drama/theater group uses that stage for their shows. They did Psycho Beach Party back in the spring. Plus there is the theater where you see the show "simply titled 'The Sea' "... i dont know if it has chairs though. and of course turle talk theater (room) thing with benches.

Thanks for the UPDATE...

I have a quick question. On two trips to WDW between '91 and '93 (I hope I remember the date correctly), I remember much more of an "attraction" feel to the Living Seas. I was disappointed as I led my group inside it last year, only to find it really lacked anything gripping. Will the "ride" and other improvements fix this at all?

HA!!!! I TOLD whoever that was that the ride was coming back, and all he wanted to do was argue, argue, and then argue some more for good measure.
I completely forget who it was, but I owe someone on these boards a nice, big, juicy "I TOLD YOU SO"!!!!

Mwahahahaha! I'm so evil - now all I need is a hat.

Ahh thanks soooo much, you are so lucky that you got to see this, but remember to be careful. :)

I am really going to miss the likes of the hydrolators and the famous film with "and it rained and it rained" but I do look forward to the future with what this pavilion has to offer.

This makes me sad. I hope that all of this renovation brings a lot of new interest in the pavilion and the oceans (I really mean that, not in a sarcastic way). If not, it was a terrible waste to take out some of this stuff.

I'm guessing that'll be Thrall (or Thrawl, however you spell it!).

Anyway its good news, I was really looking forward to it last time (first time in 13 years) and i enjoyed it but it was missing that something and my girlfriend said it would have been better letting Sea World do that bit of entertainment over at their park. So i'm glad to see it coming back. Shame about the hydrolators it did give the impression of going underground, certainly fooled me and the girlf until we read otherwise here.

Hmm..

I will preface this by saying that even the people who work at the Seas daily have been left in the dark (animal groups, tours, etc..) but if anyone was going to be let in, it'd probably be security.

So, if it's true, I'm a happy camper. If not, we'll all hate you in a few months ;)

Also - Seas had 3 theaters. The pre-show circle which pretty much everyone knows, had no benches. Most people skipped the next portion, but then there was the film The Seas with the afrorementioned benches. They weren't wooden, but sorta like fiberglass things in a funky blue color. There were two of these, but after the ride went down originally, the left-side theater was closed off from daily operation and the side corner removed to allow the "direct to seabase" bypass. The pre-show film was altered (well, pretty much removed) because it had to do with the sponsor entirely - so you stood in the circular room twice as long but now with nothing to see.

To butcher the Bard:

"Alas, poor Hydrolators! I knew them, Soarinluvr..."

It was bound to happen, but I sure loved those silly things.

Interesting...so if what you're saying is true (no offense, but this is the internet :D )....I wonder if they will be using the screens of the theaters as part of the set for that particular section of the ride....and if one theater remains...will it be used for a new pre-show....or will they move Turtle Talk in there?

The big question is....about the queue....has it changed?

Thanks for the 411!
