Wishing I could make up my mind!!!

Since we've had to shorten our trip drastically, we have 2 days to plan. I've got reservations for 3 dining experiences, Akershus (lunch) on Monday and CRT (breakfast) and Crystal palace (1pm lunch) on Tuesday. I have to narrow them down. First off I can't decide between 2 days at MK and 1 day Epcot, 1 day MK. DH and I would like to go to Epcot, but I'm worried our daughter (4) wouldn't enjoy it as much. We will get a free photo of her if we visit the Charachter Spot because we have a Chase card (that's a plus!) also we would like to visit the Moroccan restaurant and DH would like to ride Soarin. Plus she is ALL about Nemo right now so I know she would like that ride and to visit the Turtle Talk with Crush. But with only having 2 days, I'm not sure if 1 Magic Kingdom day is enough. If we did do Epcot I think we would probably cancel the CRT and keep the Crystal Palace, daughter is a BIG Eeyore fan and has had a little stuffed one that she sleeps with so I know meeting him would be a big deal for her, and Mom would LOVE to have a picture of that. I'm so conflicted. My mind says she HAS to go to CRT becauase everyone says its awesome, but I'm not sure if its the right fit for us. Maybe she would enjoy Akershus more? She loves Belle way more than Cinderella "I think"....:(( I can't say anything to husband for his input because he is very anti-plan when it comes to vacation (but yet VERY OCD in "real" life) weird!! I know. Not sure why I'm posting, just venting my confusion I think. lol

Just some thoughts:
  • Will you have a park hopper? My initial suggestion is to spend the first full day at MK, the morning of the second day at Epcot, and then take the monorail back to MK for another 1/2 day.
  • Table Service (TS) meals are a lot more time-consuming than Quick Service (QS). With only 2 days, one possibility is to eat only one TS meal. You'll definitely gain park touring time. So maybe just do Crystal Palace since your daughter is an Eeyore fan.
  • Have you been before? I ask because some of my more specific suggestions could be influenced by how well you know the parks.
  • Do you plan on returning? You could always "save" some things if you know you are going to return but your DD is only 4 once and there probably are things you'll want her to experience as a 4 year-old.
  • What are the "must do" rides for you and your family?
  • When are you going?

I say include Epcot too, maybe a half day? Your daughter will enjoy herself and you and your husband should get to have some fun too! :) When is your trip? Do you have park hoppers?

I think you should include epcot.

I think that you should pick the top 10 attractions your daughter will enjoy at MK. Keep the crystal palace meal and do those 10 things.

The next day, go to Epcot. Visit the Seas, Spaceship Earth, Soarin and whatever else interests you there. Enjoy lunch at Akershus, stroll the WS for a bit.

We took a last-minute trip to WDW in September 2010, which only lasted 3 days: arrived in the late afternoon on a Friday, went to EP that evening; early morning at AK, then MNSSHP at MK on Saturday; & left early morning on a Sunday. Our DD's were 1 & 4 y.o. at the time. Remember, short trips can be done, but do not expect to get EVERYTHING in. I found that that weekend getaway was more laid back compared to our weeklong trips, because we weren't "forced" into getting every little thing in. We had favorites rides and foods in mind, but this was not the trip to try "new" things.

As for you, it kind of sounds like you made up your mind: 1 day @ EP & 1 day @ MK. Even if you didn't have park-hoppers, it's no biggie. You could find yourself wasting an hour or two just to "hop" (then again, that could be your "down time" to recharge while riding the monorail). I would suggest arriving at each park as soon as it opens, grab FP's for your favorite attractions (i.e. Soarin') & ride your DD's other favs first thing (i.e. Peter Pan's Flight, followed by Winnie-the-Pooh, and then Dumbo; the Carousel & It's a Small World don't usually have long lines in the A.M. to early P.M.). If my DD's had to rank the parks, MK would be #1 and then EP #2 (they love the KidCot stations & getting their Disney passport stamped).

I will also echo a previous poster and suggest QS meals vs. sit-downs. But, if I had to choose one meal out of your selection, I'd hit up CP, because the only other place to meet Eeyore on an everyday basis is at AK (sometimes he can be found at the UK pavilion in EP, but each time we've stopped by it was Pooh & Tigger). The princesses have their own meet-and-greets at the "theatre" in MK (to the right as you walk out from under the tunnels) & at the various countries in EP. Cinderella's Castle can wait for another trip IMO.

Enjoy your mini-vacation and savor the little Disney moments with your family!

DD3 loves Epcot, so i say you should at least try to get in a half day. Also, the Chase character meet is in Innoventions (west I believe) it starts at 1:30 and you should line up around 1:00 or 1:15. It is definitely worth it if you can do it.

We do will not have a park hopper. Hubby and I were in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, & Hollywood studios on a 1 day park hopper back in 2006. Talk about a whirlwind! We don't know the parks/transportation systems really at all. I doubt we will ever return, this will probably be a 1 shot trip. We should be in the parks 2 weeks from today! YIKES! Monday/Tuesday are our Park days. Our musts would be Peter Pan, It's a Small World, and the Magic Carpet Ride. Meeting the Princesses, Meeting Tinker Belle & Mickey/Minnie Mouse. She loves carrousels to so that would be a must. I would like for her to see Eeyore as well, and at least 1 character meal. She wants to see the castle but she doesn't know yet that it's possible to go in the castle (crt).

I think that what everyone else is suggesting is the plan to go with! EPCOT and MK - sounds like the perfect mix!

Where she loves Eeyore so much Crystal Palace would be my choice for your sit down meal - that way you can spend the morning doing rides/meet and greets when the lines are the shortest as well. You'd still be able to meet princesses elsewhere. Where she's only four there's always more time to do CRT - honestly, I went my last trip with my sister (17 and 22 years old) and we still appreciated it. It's exciting, but sometimes the CRT experience isn't all it's cracked up to be - a "must do" eventually, but maybe just not on this trip!

Go see Nemo =)

I'm not sure if you have any picky eaters but I will say, drop the Akerhaus ADR for lunch. The food is "unique" and I didn't care for it at all. The character interaction was lovely but the food, I would not go back for lunch or dinner. Also, I would keep CRT and skip Crystal Palace as well. With 2 days at the park, I wouldn't spend that much time on dining. I think your daughter will like Epcot - there is loads to do, especially if she does love Nemo. If you don't mind the more unique food - then keep Akerhaus so you can see the princesses and then Crystal Palace the next day as well.

Yes, VERY picky! Husband and daughter both are. That would be a deal breaker, especially for the hubby! I can deal with a crabby 4 year old, but a cranky husband, oh no! lol

Thanks for the info. Wow, only 2 days and you doubt you'll ever return. There's a lot to consider!

First, start with the tickets. I assume you have 2-day single park tickets for 2 adults and 1 child. Pre-tax total for these 3 tickets is $516. The same tickets with park hopper option costs $687. This means it will cost you $171 to upgrade, if you decide to. You can do this at Guest Relations near the front of the parks. So, if you have a change of heart and decide you want to visit more that one park per day, you can do this while you are there. They'll simply ask to to pay the difference, as long as your tickets haven't expired.

Second, you mentioned your husband wants to ride Soarin, your daughter wants to ride Nemo & see Turtle Talk with Crush at Epcot, while you have a number of "must do" things at the Magic Kingdom. Without hopper tickets and knowing that you might never return, you should plan for one day at Epcot and one day at MK. Remember, if you get bored at Epcot after completing all your "must do" attractions, you still can go back to Guest Relations and upgrade your ticket to a hopper ticket so you can head to MK. Again, you don't have to make this decision now but if this might be the last time you visit WDW in the near future, you should ask yourself is it worth spending another $171 to spend another half day at MK. Epcot and MK are the only 2 theme parks connected by the Monorail so if you decide to go with a park hopper, it gives you a good reason to ride the Monorail.

Third, with Test Track closed for refurbishment, lines at Soarin are going to be really long. On your Epcot day, be at the gate at least 15 minutes before opening. Head straight for Soarin or if your daughter wants to stop and enjoy something, send your husband straight to Soarin to get Fast Passes. I realize that it might seem like I'm being pushy but you don't want to spend hours in line waiting to ride Soarin, and Soarin FPs go fast. After these FPs are secured, it's probably best for the 3 of you to head to Turtle Talk and then Nemo. By the time you finish with these 2, you should be able to use your Soarin Fast Passes. Mission Space is the only other attraction at Epcot that can have a really long line but that also has a 44" height restriction. Not sure if your daughter is tall enough or if you want to do this attraction. Everything else at Epcot is pretty good at handling crowds so I wouldn't worry too much about the rest. You mentioned that you want to get your free photo from Chase Disney Visa. That line can get pretty long too but they do try to keep it moving. It's also in the general area of Soarin, Nemo, and Turtle Talk.

Fourth, lines are always the shortest when the park opens. For your MK day, again try to be at the gate at least 15 minutes before opening. I'm not sure how you are getting there but be aware that it can take 30 minutes or longer from the time you park your car to arrive at the gate. It's better to be early than late. Of your MK "must do" things:
Peter Pan, It's a Small World, and the Magic Carpet Ride. Meeting the Princesses, Meeting Tinker Belle & Mickey/Minnie Mouse. She loves carrousels to so that would be a must. I would like for her to see Eeyore as well, and at least 1 character meal.
Only Peter Pan can have a really long line. It's probably best if you do this first or get a Fast Pass for it within the first 30 minutes of park opening. Lines are not as bad as Soarin but it is still best if you minimize the amount of time you spend in line. All the other things on your "must do" list should have shorter lines.

Fifth, since your daughter likes Eeyore so much, definitely keep your lunch reservation at the Crystal Palace. This is the only place in MK that you are sure to see him. Also consider the Winnie the Pooh ride in Fantasyland.

Sixth, have fun! I've thrown a lot at you; I hope you find it helpful.:)

I have to agree with previous posters .... definately include Epcot. The Seas with Nemo and friends is something I bet your little one would adore. Also, consider Innoventions, ImageWorks, the Gran Fiesta Tour thru Mexico's pavillion, so many things! You could always keep Crystal Palace and make that your Magic Kingdom day, then maybe do Chef Mickeys for breakfast, on your Epcot day. Im sure regardless of your choices you and your family will enjoy!! Have a wonderful time

Also a lot of characters are around in the different shops and stuff in the world showcase and they don't get very busy because most people don't know about this! So this could also be a + for Epcot and your little one! They also have some kid friendly activities in some of these places!

Then either make it a breakfast or skip it. The food for lunch and dinner, in my opinion, is terrible. I had to order off the kids menu b/c I couldn't find anything to eat off the adult menu.

Very good to know! I'm so glad we can wait and decide after seeing how much of the parks we get through. $171 is a lot of money, but if it's our only visit, to me its very worth paying that amount and getting all we can out of it, if we feel like we are missing something.

I realize that it might seem like I'm being pushy but you don't want to spend hours in line waiting to ride Soarin, and Soarin FPs go fast.
No, not at all! I'm glad to know that because it's the one thing he is really wanting to do for himself. That is a must for him at Epcot for sure, he would be so disappointed if we went to Epcot and he wasn't able to do that, and in general he is not an early riser on vacation so I will let him know if we go to Epcot, he HAS to be so he needs to decide and get up and get going! :)

Mission Space is the only other attraction at Epcot that can have a really long line but that also has a 44" height restriction. Not sure if your daughter is tall enough or if you want to do this attraction.
I think we would all pass on that one, Hubby might do the milder version of it, but it might even be too wild for him.

Only Peter Pan can have a really long line. We will head straight for Peter Pan on our MK day! :)

Fifth, since your daughter likes Eeyore so much, definitely keep your lunch reservation at the Crystal Palace. This is the only place in MK that you are sure to see him. Also consider the Winnie the Pooh ride in Fantasyland. Yes I've got that reservation secured and have decided to keep it, I want that picture of her with the "real" Eeyore. :) Also since it's the buffet I know there will be plenty of things for hubby to eat. :)

Sixth, have fun! I've thrown a lot at you; I hope you find it helpful.:)[/quote]
YES, I cannot thank you enough! That was so much information but VERY helpful information and we will make some changes accordingly. Having such a short time there it really helps and will make sure it's a very enjoyable, relaxed time. Just by knowing which places to hit first will save us a lot of waiting around while making sure everyone gets to do what they really wanted to do.

Thank you! I'm going to be stalking the reservations again...lol and seeing what I can find for breakfast. Nothing worse than a hungry grouchy husband who just paid a big price on food he won't eat! and after looking at the menus, I'm doubting he would eat much of it. He doesn't like fish or pork so that pretty much eliminated a good part of the menu. Morning he would do fine with the pastries, he could eat all day on that sort of thing. Nothing is too sweet for his sweet tooth.

Thank you!!! I have decided we definitely do need to see Epcot, there seems to be a lot there she would like, as well as us and it feels like it would be a more relaxed day than the craziness at MK, and a day still full of characters. :)

Yes, that's what I've decided too! Cp looks like the food is much more what everyone would eat also, and we can do a FP for the princesses in MK so that would be easy enough. Also I just thought about if she wanted to see them in MK, then we went to Akershus and she saw the same princesses, only they were DIFFERENT princesses... oh my... that could be a disaster! lol.. AFter all there is ONLY 1 Cinderella and 1 Belle when you are 4, and I know she would notice! lol :D
