Have projections been used that effectively in any other castle shows to date (e.g., turning the castle to Notre Dame and having the hunchback scale it)? .

The projections for the original 2012 Disney Dreams! in Paris came across even more impressive in several areas. Including the Notre Dame sequence, and especially the Steampunk sequence.

Not to belittle the ones in this show.

I need a .gif of the rocket taking off during the end of the "Never Had A Friend Like Me" segment so I can show the world. Incredible.

How's This for you....;)

I loved Disney Dreams, it was absolutely spectacular and stood as the best projection nighttime spectacular but this one is leaps better. Of course I would expect that since it's been five years since Dreams came out

Some people complain about the "weak story" compared to Wishes. That doesn't really bother me. The structure reminded me of World of Color and people don't complain about the weak narrative there. Though I guess it comes down to your taste.

Anyway, I LOVE when the projection turned the castle red with yellow lines! It was mesmerizing to watch!

tbh they need an entire show celebrating Yoko Shimomura. There isn't a single piece she composed for the KH franchise that wouldn't perfectly suit a Disney nighttime spectacular. One of my favorite pieces from Kingdom Hearts:

This instrumental never ceases to amaze me. So inherently Disney. Kingdom Hearts is one of my absolute favs. I'd love to see this in a nighttime spectacular.

Yes, it really is.

Anyway, do me a favour! I can finally talk about this in public :D

You can still hear a little bit of it, so no, it isn't ;)

I didn't see Disney Dreams in person but would have loved to. It looked beautiful and so well done. I think HEA trumps it but I think Dreams had a bit more emotional pull ...

Watching it again this morning from @wdwmagic 's video... I'm liking it more.

I think their video's perspective did a better job of capturing the 'in park' effects that were lost of me in the DPB's video. The lighting effects in the trees, the surround flashes/etc that supported the pyro+projections, etc. I also think the fixed perspective gives a bit more balance of the pyro vs the multi-camera view the DPB gave.

This does feel like the MK's own 'Remember...' moment, where it really amps up the elements and integrations compared to shows in the past and I think it will really get it's hooks into people. But like Remember... where you are in the park to see it will make huge impacts. I think the Firework's FP value just shot up :)

The HEA song still does nothing for me.. nor does the hunchback song, or the rising moon portion of the frozen song... but the rest I move through pretty easily (the jungle book one gets a mention I guess too).

The opening projections are so solid... imagine being a kid now and seeing this for the first time, it has to look so credible.

Yes, Dreams was absolutely amazing. And it's pyro worked perfectly for DLP. Obviously WDW can ramp it up a bit.

This show is certainly a derivative of Dreams, although we can probably trace back projection mapping effects for a pyro show to Tokyos Starlight Magic in 2000.

Dreams was clever in using a narrative in both music and dialogue. Plus Peter Pan and Wendy covered two languages. Tying in his shadow and the second star held the show together. Something HEA is slightly missing. Again, not to lessen the technical accomplishments in the MK but the show currently is a little loose story-wise around the edges. It's there if you go looking for it, some may say like RoE, but Wishes managed to spell it out better.

Also, if they really plan on trotting out Hallowishes and Holiday Wishes with absolutely no changes for those time periods, hoo boy, won't that look like a downgrade.

One thing I had a chuckle while rewatching.. During the pan and scan of the entire Hub of MK there was only one person wearing a Made with Magic/Glow with the show pair of ears..Wondering if they did sync to the show or drop this idea entirely?

I had forgotten those existed. Do they even still sell them?

Absolutely. Ditto the BTY and OUAC parades, which could use some upgrades when compared to FoF.

Yes, HEA is missing just that extra bit of connective narrative. It's there but could be a bit tighter I feel.

But from a technical standpoint this new show is a home run and a welcome addition to the MK. And I'm guessing you'll have your work cut out for you, Martin, when the time comes for a multi-angle tribute! ;)

At least I can stop anywhere I want and watch a good pyro display anywhere in the parks, plus they bought back the multibreak multicolor shells as well as those wide bursts that could span the entire skyline from one side of the park to the other
