When they show the Keyhole at the beginning of the show it reminded me of Kingdom Hearts considering it is a Big thing reflected in the Disney/Squareenix game. And when I saw the opening of the show...This came to mind and I created this....

One of these days, they need to put Destati in a fireworks show.

I think I would have preferred full segments like DL Forever, SHDL Ignite the Dream and DLP Disney Illuminations rather than mash ups. The villains portion especially Ursula was to short. But overall it definitely was a good show and I enjoyed it! Good enough for a nighttime stand alone show for MK? Debatable.

Sorry if I missed this upthread somewhere, but does anyone have a read on how this looks from outside the park (i.e., Cali Grill deck, Poly beach)? My big concern is that even with a marked increase in pyro volume, missing out on the castle projection show significantly limits the impact of the experience, which wasn't a concern when viewing Wishes from afar.
From outside the park I would say the experience would be very similar to Wishes. The pyro content is largely similar in scale.

When You Wish Upon a Star has been the main focus of Disney Firework Spectaculars for so long that a different finale score is welcomed. This show is wonderful and is aimed towards a new generation. I hope we all can understand that the Disney 20 to 50 years ago will be very different than the Disney 20 to 50 years in the future. Things must change, and this change is welcomed greatly.

Indeed. From the moment that The Magic, the Memories, and You! opened, I've wanted a show like this. Increasing it 50% beyond that of Wishes and adding lasers and synchrolites has blown my mind.

This show was terrific...I am so glad it has remained a fireworks show. The lasers and projections are just a huge bonus. I was very happy with what I saw.
I would have liked a little "wish upon a star...like a bolt out of the blue" segment, because that song is the tear jerker. But it is okay. Still a fantastic show and we all cannot wait to see it next month.

I loved the simplicity of the Princess and the Frog opening, the Moana segment, and the Pirates section. Those three segments really stood out for me. Great finale too!!

I don't think When You Wish Upon a Star is an overrated song but anyway! It's classic Disney and tugs on your heartstrings, but I don't think it's necessary a loss that it's not featured in HEA. Plus it's still in The Goodnight Kiss where I feel it makes more sense.

Now, having seen it just once, and not in person, I can't pass full judgement on that aspect until about 9:30 pm on October 30 of this year :)

Hey! That's when I will be seeing it for the first time too :D

Good show. I love the music.

Nothing is "off-limits." Disney can do whatever they want.

But they wouldn't change Sleeping Beauty's castle in DL because it would cause too much backlash. It's simply a bad idea.
Plus Disneyland already has Fantasmic! so it's not really necessary to have a huge canvas for projections, and Sleeping Beauty Castle changing in Hong Kong is fine, but Disneyland's is far too iconic.

Something I actually love about this show is the focus on our newer classics from the late 80's and 90's. I can only hear "Wish Upon a Star" so many times before I want to find all the stars and throw them in a black hole never to be seen again.

The Black Hole didn't appear in the show, but there are rumors they want to reboot it.

I was impressed by video. Crowd reacted really well to it.

Have projections been used that effectively in any other castle shows to date (e.g., turning the castle to Notre Dame and having the hunchback scale it)? That, combined with the lesser-used clips and choice/orchestration of music and this gets my vote for best current castle show in the world. I like it much more than Wishes.

Best ever end-of-day Castle show I still think goes to DL's Remeber Dreams Come True, because it was park-centered, and I've always had a lot more interest in the parks than the Co.'s film catalogue. Not a big animation aficionado, but I really dug Moana, so bonus points for including that manta ray sequence.
