TDL - which can never be accused of skimping on entertainment - has cultural and operational considerations regarding pyro.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Happiness On High and Sky High Wishes better than Disney Magic In The Sky. It's just that Starlight Magic from 1998-2000 was so good! Then it dropped off from there. OUAT/Frozen Forever certainty helps now.

No, it's worse than that. If this show comes out and it's terrible, complain away. The thing that drives me insane is the pre-complaining about something completely new that you've never seen before. It's like some kind of reverse excitement where you gear up to dislike something almost deliberately.

maybe if the company blew us away every-time they did something...or or most of the time they did something but.....yeah they dont. There track record lately invites this so called "miserable tone"

Like what? Stitch was 13 years ago. Imagination was 18 years ago. Using the biggest recent example off the top of my head, New Fantasyland is a tremendous upgrade over Toon Town.

except it didn't replace toontown.....that was a retheme and the "new portions" replaced what used to be nemo and the skyway and dont forget the piece of the speedway chopped off for toon town to begin with. The theme of NFL does wonders for an otherwise too cartoony rendition of fantasy. however the substance is light in my opinion.

Like almost all of the old Future World songs that people still worship as the best music since The Beatles? Horizons is the worst of the bunch.

Dang. The budget number I'm hearing is a big nut for the attractions not to be up to par. But I'm not an Epcot purist so the "fit" doesn't bother me as much.

here is my opinion for what it's worth...Disney spends money tons of it! alot of money! but what stands in front of you after its all spent isn't worth the aforementioned money spent. everyone assumes a good or service is some kind of fixed value but innovation pushes things not to just be cheaper but also be better overall (cars are a great example) but that seems to be lacking in WDI.

I think Wishes is the perfect ending to a day at Magic Kingdom and I'm pretty heartbroken to see it go. I'm a little excited for Happily Ever After though, especially after reading that Mulan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Brave, and so many other underrepresented films are going ot be included in it. :)
Actually, the perfect end to a day at the MK is the Kiss Goodnight... as long as you can stay up for it (!)

On the talk of projectors... how do the projectors for The Tree of Life Awakenings work as they appear to be on for hours every night?

Throw distance is shorter therefore projectors don't need the massive lamps that the MK projectors do. They are still big but the MK ones are ginormous Remember light intensity decreases with the square of the distance. It's known as the inverse square law

I used to regard each new attraction or show with a lot of anticipation. I knew I was going to be amazed by a Disney production. However, Disney's latest attractions and shows have been disappointing. So now I have lowered my expectations. I hope Happily Ever After will be fabulous, but I won't be surprised if it's not.

The skyway closed in 1999. The submarines closed in 1994. Once again, people keep talking about this terrible track record that Disney has "lately" but they're making the argument by pointing to things that happened 10 to 20+ years ago. I ask again, what recent issues have caused you to question Disney's track record for quality?

The shallowness of New Fantasyland? A heavy reliance on IP rather than letting imagineers come up with new things? Guardians of the Tower? Nemo in Epcot? The overexposure of extremely popular IP to the detriment of IP that would be better used?

In just one park?

SSE ride system
State of Energy still
Wonders still
MS show quality
The entire Imagination pavilion
Circle of life still playing
Show state of Living with the Land
Empty 1994 Living with the Land finale
Thinning of RoE
AmAd projection quality

(Without going near the Norway pavilion)

Not that I disagree with you, but I think the moral of this story is that you shouldn't build attractions that will be outdated shortly after they open. And you really shouldn't design an entire park around that concept. I've still yet to comprehend why Disney ever though that a permanent World's Fair was a good idea after struggling with Tomorrowland so mightily for decades before. You can't expect Disney to continuously do $100 million+ renovations or rebuilds of 7 or 8 pavilions every decade- but that's the trap that EPCOT was and always will be.

Having said all of this, EPCOT is still my favorite park (not the best mind you, but my favorite). I can still spend half a day there every few weeks and enjoy my time there.

I wish you would've "gone there" with the Norway pavilion because that's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. I fully recognize that there are large parts of WDW that need work. The point I was arguing is that most of the new stuff has been pretty darn good. There are lots of problems with old stuff that need to be addressed, but that doesn't have anything to do with the people doubting the quality of this new nighttime show.

Imagination sucks and has sucked since the 90s and they haven't fixed it yet. Fine. I'm not arguing that point. My point is that when they do get around to fixing it, I have confidence they'll do a good job.
