I think I missed it. Is Asha considered a Princess?
If the movie is a hit, she will be. If not, she'll join the ranks of Kida, Elionwy, Esmeralda, Meg, Maid Marian as an "unofficial" princess.

Raya is in this weird gray zone where she's sometimes marketed as a Disney Princess but hasn't officially been coronated or anything.

Sheā€™s officially a Disney Princess since August 2022.

But in the movie is she a real Princess with royal parents or married to a Prince?

Geez! We still didn't have a second trailer of Wish yet. It premieres in two months and they didn't release the second trailer yet! What gives?

I donā€™t know if we know for sure that heā€™s her father.

She is a ā€œprincessā€, whether or not she becomes a ā€œDisney Princessā€ will hinge on the films commercial success.

I didn't know you had to reach a certain financial milestone to become a "Disney Princess", even if the word "Princess" is in your official title. Fascinating.

So if a movie about a Princess goes straight to Disney+, does that mean she's really only a Countess or Baroness? šŸ¤”

If youā€™re uber successful, you skip the ā€œDisney Princessā€ altogether and get to stay within your own franchise. Like Anna & Elsa, they are not and have never been ā€œDisney Princessā€.

Itā€™s about the ā€œfranchiseā€ of it all. If youā€™re popular, you get lumped into the Disney Princess franchise. Itā€™s all about the Benjaminā€™s

The Disney Princess line is all about popularity/financial success. This is why non-Princesses like Mulan and Moana are part of the Disney Princess lineup and actual princesses like Kida from Atlantis and Eilonwy from the Black Cauldron are not.
