Wish (Walt Disney Animation - November 2023)

If i'm not mistaken, Wish is not just the ordinary animated film as we know about it, this is a major celebratory animated film that served as tribute to Walt Disney Animation Studios and The Walt Disney Company as whole, giving their rich history for it's role invented the world's first full-length animated film (of course is Snow White) and the world's first film that featured an official soundtrack.

Not only 7 teens (homage to the 7 Dwarfs) that would appear, Wishing Star (homage to Pinocchio) would also be featured, as this film can be considered as "spiritual prequel" of Pinocchio.
Paying homage to a movie they clearly hate and are subverting because reasons.

They do not hate any movie that was mentioned. Just because a live action remake is being done of a particular film to modernize it doesn't mean they hate the original.

Movies are remade all the time in Hollywood, doesn't mean the original is hated.
Ooooohhhh...come see Wish, it pays homage to our first animated feature, Snow White!

Come see Snow White...it subverts all the outdated misogyny and patronizing of the original version.

Disney is cynically trying to play to all sides, and they are failing miserably. Just ask @TP2000 on the box office thread.

I don't want this to suck, because my 8yo will want to see it, and we will take her. But after the last couple of years, I have very little hope for it. I honestly hope I'm wrong.

Well, if that is the case, then more people would be inclined toward seeing Wish than the new Snow White. (as if we didn't already know that was true anyway)

Plus at D23 Jennifer asked when the film was announced is how did the wishing star that so many of our beloved Disney characters wished on came to be.

Anyway, now the three Warner Bros. movies have been delayed, then Wish has a better chance to become a box office hit. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but for once, thank you Hollywood strikes! ;)

You simply aren't cynical enough. They aren't replacing the originals. They are repackaging and trying to sell the same thing to you over and over again. It's just the Disney Toon's sequelization by a different name.

Snow White isn't going anywhere, the animated "Disney Princess" lineup is invaluable.

Thank you, Brian. You are the first person in my 46 years to tell me I'm not cynical enough. Mind if I give you my wife's number, so you can tell her, too???????

No problem! I'm happy to tell her you believe in the sanctity of marriage, true love and that Disney will let go of its cash cows. You are basically a lost cause for club cynicism!

Meanwhile they are restoring and releasing the original. Repackage, resell, repackage, resell. Snow White is doing her best to kick your wallet for the next century, in every iteration imaginable. But never truly replaced, Disney isn't letting go of that one ever.

In the past dozen years, this run length is typical.

Before that, 10 minutes shorter was typical.
I don't mind the longer runtimes if needed.

In fact, one of the biggest issues I had with both Atlantis: The Lost Empire and The Black Cauldron is that both movies tried to tackle a story that was complex enough for a 2-2.5 hour film and condense it into a film that was under 90 minutes long.
