Will WDW ever build Big kid thrill rides?

Maybe a ride would have been better than more meet and greets, that's what I think. ;)

I think kids love Disney, but it's the older crowd that really appreciate it and actually has more fun, am I wrong? Disney should keep this in mind as well.

I can understand the want / need for thrill rides however I don't think that's why a lot of families go to Disney. At least that's not why I go. I go for the magic, and the memories (and the princesses ;)) I quite enjoy the rides they have there. When I go to Disney, I know what's in store, I know what I'm getting. I don't expect there to be any huge "thrills" just an overall magical time.

If am seeking something more thrilling I generally will go to Busch Gardens or Islands of Adventure instead because, again, I know what to expect there.

Disney has built 2 attractions that could either be classified as extreme or adult. Those attractions were Alien Encounter and Mission: Space. To date, they are the most complained about attractions in WDW. People expect a Disney attraction to peak out at a mild to moderate thrill level. It does not matter what restrictions or warnings Disney puts up because guests ignore them, after all it is just Disney. How bad could it be? Stupid parents take little Timmy who can't sleep without a light on on AE in spite of multiple warnings. Little Timmy proceeds to wet himself as soon as the lights go out. The family then marches straight to guest services and demands their entire vacation be refunded to them plus a million dollars in emotional damages.

I do not see them trying to build an extreme thrill ride any time soon.

Was at Disney for 8 days recently. Don't get me wrong I love it there but is it me or do they need a couple of rides that really get the juices going for the big kids? I found myself getting on tower of terror multiple time just to get the juices going. Hopefully they will build some more in the future cause after walking around all over and watching all those shows u need something to get u going.

Have a candy bar..that should sugar you up. As for the question...no! It doesn't need thrill rides. They got that right down the road at Uni. Attempting to make a Disney park something else will be the sure end of it as we know it. The purpose is not to "thrill" you, it is to make you feel good. Test you slightly but not scare you away. The entire personality and purpose of WDW would be changed and not for the better. Life is full of adrenilin creating things...I like to get away from that. But, I don't drink coffee either!:D

Here's an idea I had a while back that I've posted on other forums:

The Cave of Wonders. The preshow would have the voice of the cave: “Who disturbs my slumber, etc.” Inside you would descend into the dark cave and eventually come to a huge treasure room, with an audio-animatronics Abu trying to steal a gem. The cave goes nuts and you board your “Flying Carpet” for a great themed roller coaster ride past falling boulders and over a boiling pool of lava. It would be a “suspended” roller coaster so you are flying underneath with the track above you. And you would be sort of laying down on top of a “carpet” (something like the Sea World Manta coaster).

Only problem is the theme is probably too kid-oriented. They would all want to ride it, but the height restrcitions would disappoint them.

This. Mission space is so extreme that I cannot even ride it (I tried it once and had a migraine and was nauseous for the rest of the day :() . I think Mission Space showed that Disney knows how to go extreme. Probably better than anyone else. But, I think they learned that going too extreme can backfire. I think they are working on perfecting the art of a thrilling ride and that's why wer'e seeing such a unique ride in the mine train. It will be thrilling, but also a ride that people of all ages can enjoy.

Go to Disney Paris - Space Mtn has a launch and goes upside down 4X.
Actually it's just three times.
But the roughness may make you feel like it's four...
also a big Thunder Mtn that is like way faster and fun than ours in the states.
It's not really faster, but it is more fun.

Just a thought...
The addition of major thrill rides would not take away any of the "magic" of a Disney park, as evidenced by Space Mountain in Paris and others. I find the whole proprietary attitude of "No big thrill rides! Leave my magic alone! Go to Six-Flags!" to be highly annoying. Everyone's definition of magic is different, and there is room for something for all tastes.

I agree 100%, but it seems like every time the envelope gets pushed at WDW, Disney gets a punch in the groin for the trouble. One thing that the other Disney parks have that WDW lacks is an abundance of regulars that get it.

I volunteer to stand a shift in City Hall to berate anyone who comes in to complain about an attraction being too thrilling or too scary. Those idiots took Alien Encounter from me...

Disney parks aren't really about the thrills.
But for the OP...have you done the Richard Petty Driving thing that Disney offers at their Speedway? I would think that would satisfy the scary excitement.

The simple answer is yes. They need more thrill rides. However, they do not have a park that they fit in properly. They own enough movies and rights that they can create a separate theme park for thrill rides alone.

PREACH IT!!!! I agree, each park could stand two big thrill rides, it would make all lines shorter, increase attractions, and also really put those imagineers in their best element. Lets face it, the best imagineer work is always done on the thrill rides: See: EE, MS, RNR, ToT

I think there is no harm in having rides for adults as well as kids... After all wasn't it Walt who said "You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway." ? I see nothing wrong with a few ToT, RNRC, EE type thrill rides in the parks. I love thrill rides and we always venture off property to either BG or Uni/IOA for these rides. If Disney offered a couple more of them, we wouldn't need to leave property.

Juices flowing has always been a weird phrase to me. Lol

:)

Gooo on........
If they build scarier or rides that require a bigger thrill you will certainly alienate a lot of guests. The idea is to get most of the family together. I think that may be part of the problem at DHS. TSMWM is a true family ride, which is one reason its to packed..everyone can go on it just about.
