Will the fact Florida has a "stand your ground" law prevent you from vacationing in Florida?

I do not wish to start a political discussion please. Does the fact Florida has a stand your ground law cause you to worry about vacationing here? This was just asked on our local new station and I wonder if it would change plans for any wdwmagic members. Personally since I live in Florida I am happy they have laws to protect someone who is defending themselves but realize this may not be the case in other states/countries. I would always consider the laws before vacationing in areas with very strict laws governing women, attire and religious activities but wonder if other's do/would take local laws into consideration before planning a vacation? Please feel free to step in Mom if you feel this question will cause controversy.

Thank you, it was my pleasure! At times I miss the "military lifestyle", the close knit friends, the commissary, being able to go bowling and to the movies cheap on post but can honestly say I am glad we are done, I will not miss the deployments and the constant worry. Being married to a Ranger that has done everything but HALO school was difficult (I put my foot down at high altitude low opening jumps). And I agree, if you let other's influence your decisions or tell you what to do, you might never live life to it's fullest!

Hooah! I absolutely miss the lifestyle. To think, I'd be retired 4 years from now had I stayed in. Awesome to see your husband was a Ranger, Rangers lead the way!! I was infantry as well, stationed with Triple Deuce 10th Mtn up at Drum. They tried to force me to go Air Assault, wasn't happening. I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of falling from heights.

Absolutely not. To me, the only people that a SYG law would bother is someone who intends to harm another in some way.

My husband was also stationed there and deployed to Mogadishu Somalia during Black Hawk Down for which he received his first CIB. He liked being Air Assault, Airborne and a Jumpmaster but he enjoyed being a Pathfinder the most. Fort Drum was cold!

One of my best friends has had fractured bones in his ankles and the discs in his neck and back are compromised because of his multiple rough landings as a Ranger. He's in pain and is suffering, is opting to delay surgery because of fear it will make the situation worse, but wouldn't have changed a thing about his time in.

That's why my dh retired, hard landing on an easy jump that dislocated his right hip, slipped on ice during a road march a few years later and it never would heal. Besides he's been running in his sleep since Somalia so it was about time, LOL! The bad thing is most soldiers will never tell when they are hurt because they are afraid of being medically discharged and with so little time before reaching 20 years he just grinned and bore it for several years which caused other problems. Four of my friends soldier's were KIA so to me just having him home alive is a blessing every day despite the physical issues. I hope your buddy's health improves, being married to a hooay guy for so many years I get where he is coming from, LOL
