We have not stayed in WLV but the lodge is our HOME AWAY FROM HOME...we just love this resort. Make sure once you check out the sights at the Villas you take time to go over to the lodge. Ask a CM for the list of hidden mickeys...a great way to see all parts of the resort. Enjoy your first stay a our #1 resort!!!!!

I have never stayed at WL, but we have our first trip there booked for April 4-14! :sohappy:

So for me, things that I don't want to avoid taking advantage of include: going to the dock and watching the electric water pageant go by. Not important enough for me to take time out to drive over to see when NOT staying in the Magic Kingdom area, but if I'm staying right there, you'd better believe I'm going to take advantage of that. Taking the boat over to Ft Wilderness. Now, we try to visit Ft Wilderness anyway, when staying at CSR and POR, but if you haven't done so before, I'd highly recommend taking advantage of the proximity and the short boat ride and going over there and enjoying some stuff, including a wagon ride or carraige ride, seeing the horse barn, or the campfire singalong.

Love the resort, its my favorite, and I will be checking in there in about two weeks!! Not only is it a great resort but it offers a lot of great photo oppurtunities. On the inside, you have the bridge in the main lodge of WL, and the flowers around the walkways of the pool and outuside Roaring Forks were gorgeous to enjoy.

I hope you have a fabulous stay and a wonderful vacation.

LOOOVE WL! We did not stay at the villas, walked through the entryway once though. We have stayed there and AKL, and if I had to choose, I would choose WL hands down. AKL is great too, but WL just has this...appeal to it from the moment you walk in. And I don't know what it is, but it smells wonderful! Almost like a bbq or something. One thing that we loved the most, was the boat access to MK! That cannot be beat! It was an option for our upcoming December trip, but lost out due to trying to stay at every single resort, and we still have a few to go. So, have fun!!!

Sit and contemplate for 5 days??? With the Magic Kingdom a boat ride away??? You'd best get out of that rocking chair, son, and get down to business! To quote Samantha Brown "This is Disney World! There is fun to be had!" :D:lol:

Ya, we'll be at our 5 week mark on Saturday (5 weeks from leaving Illinois, that is)! So exciting! :sohappy: In all my trips, I really don't think I've ever eaten anything at Casey's. I could be wrong, but I just don't recall ever patronizing that place. I may have to put that on the agenda this time around.

And sorry about calling you "son". Looking at your profile, I see you're a daughter. :ROFLOL:

Lots of great things that I like to do at Wilderness Lodge. I enjoy getting up in the morning, sitting on the balcony and drinking my coffee, what a way to start the morning. They have several games/contests out by the pool in the afternoon, hula hoop contests, trivia games, and duck races. The geyser goes off near the top of the hour, and the electric water pageant comes by a little after nine. If you arrive at the beach early you can get one of the lounge chairs, it makes the wait more relaxing.

This will be our first time in a Deluxe Resort, and my wife was asking me last night if they have a DVD player in the room. I don't think so, but I wondered if that might be one of the extra ammeneties that the deluxes have over the moderates. So is there a DVD player in the room?

My wife wants to bring her excercise DVD along, and I told her that she'll be getting plenty of excercise walking around all those parks.

No DVD player in the regular rooms unfortunately.

My favorite part of staying in the WL was enjoying the lobby early in the morning with a cup of terrible coffee. It could only be better if they served real coffee

Great photos. The detail surrounding the resort is quite amazing. Happy to have stumbled upon this thread, it certainly eases my mind that we made the switch from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Wilderness Lodge, especially with how close it is to Magic Kingdom.

This will be my first stay at WL. It reminds me a lot of the Grand Californian T Disneyland and California Adventure. I have stayed at POR and POFQ so I am looking forward to something new.

I leave in 2 Days Yeah Me:ROFLOL: Oh man I have watched one two many episodes of The Suite Life:lol:
