Wild Africa Trek no longer includes Photopass

I mentioned this in another thread, and it seemed like no one had heard yet, so I thought I'd start a new one. We did the Wild Africa Trek on May 17, and we did not get a voucher for a photopass CD. Instead, we were asked for our home address and told that a CD of all images taken on the trek would be sent to us in 5-7 days. The CD arrived in 5 days, and contained about 200 photos- group shots of everyone on the trek, individual shots of each family, and some stock shots of the Savannah. The trek has lost a lot of it's value, because you can no longer save $149 by adding Photopass pictures onto it. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who has the booked.

Yeah this definitely drops the value of the tour. I'm glad I did this when I had the chance.

Initially what also bothered me about this is that you would only get one Photopass card per reservation, meaning that if you booked this for 4 people that lived in separate houses they would only get one photopass between them, they would have to pay for extra CDs.

I had a lot of fun on this tour, but it's very likely going to be a one time thing for me.

I felt like it was worth it for the introductory AP rate that I paid for it ($129). However, the current rate of $189, even if it now includes a special look at the lions, seems a bit steep. I doubt I'll take the tour again.

To each their own I think. I found the tour to be a great time and worth the cost. Granted I paid the intro price but I would still have paid the 189 to give it a shot if I wasn't able to be one of the first groups.

I have not been on this tour yet, but this drops the value for me as well. I really liked the perk of the included Photopass CD.

for 189, they should at least give you some sort of sit down meal with the deal. I saw pics of the snacks they offered and that just wouldn't cut it for me. The bridge part looks very cool, ill give you that, but certainly not worth 200

Your exactly why Disney takes things away and dont mind because you will pay it anyway. I for one want value for what I get not just another way for Disney or any company for that matter to take your money and take away benefits.

We were lucky enough to do the Trek just after it opened. Really enjoyed it and the extra perk of the photo pass was great. Not sure if we would do it again for $189.

You're on a Disney fan site and trying to chastise a poster who likes something Disney provides? Everything Disney does is based on consumer feedback and a business case, if they determine that the market will absorb a price increase or a reduction of benefits then they'll do it. Trying to suggest that individuals who accept that as a part of the package and choose to still partake are the cause is decidedly un-American!

I want you to do me a favor and find anywhere in any of the advertising or information of the trek where it said that a photopass CD was part of the package. I took the tour the first week that it started and wondered from the beginning what their plan was with all the picture taking. When we were surprised with the photopass card at the end, I was shocked. I honestly thought they were going to try and sell us a photo CD from the tour, since Disney usually doesn't pass up on an upcharge possibility. I even thought the photopass certs were only going to be discounts when they handed them to us as well. How can you accuse me for being complacent with them giving me less when they don't have to give me anything at all. When you pay for the tour, you pay for just that...a tour. If I had wanted a photopass CD then I would have saved myself 4 hours and gotten a CD. They're still giving you a CD with all the pictures they take, so I don't see a problem here.

I would just like to wholeheartedly agree with MontyMon on this. Bgraham, do you actually believe that thinking some at WDW is worth the price is something that should subject somebody to ridicule and anger? I have a hard time believing the tour is worth $189, but I'm certainly not going to beat up somebody who does.

I think Dole Whips are worth the price -- is it now my fault that they don't cost less?

As others have stated, if someone feels that paying a higher price for less "product" is worthwhile, that's his/her option.

As an example, when I first started going to WDW, all of Epcot was open in the morning, and it stayed open until 10PM.

We do not blame the guests who are satisfied with paying less for fewer hours as the cause for increases in price. Or, if we do blame them, we should probably start by looking in the mirror, as the fact that people continue to visit (and the parks are still crowded) means that the prices for everything will continue to rise.

Until we all stop going because they've risen too high. But I suspect WDW will notice decrease in attendance, and lower them before that happens.
