Why the Hatred Towards Meg Crofton and Jay Rasulo?

Personally I have no problem with them.

Most "bashers' live in this world where Disney should NEVER change ANYTHING (For an effective example of what happens then...try visitng Opryland!) A lot of the "bashers" think that current management is not doing what Walt would do. (Hint he's dead, unless you are channeling him HOW do you know what he would do?) I think some folks really believe he can be defrosted and come back to run Disney.

Just ignore the "bashers" figure that they are just jealous. (By the way, from what I am reading resort bookings and park admissions are UP. Makes you wonder why current promos are so "horrid" LOL!)

If you read through the responses, you will see that the reasons are quite the contrary from your conclusions.

What IS wanted from these people is change, progress, high standards and innovation. The WWWD card has not been brought up either.

For an example of what is desired by many here, use Matt Ouimet at DL as an example. The park had been so neglected for so many years, and he basically said enough, shut down and overhauled large sections of the park and returned it to a glory not seen in 20 years. This has nothing to do with being stagnant...quite the opposite.

If I can summarize, the main problems with much of current management is that they are pure business...spread sheets, profit margins. While that is critical to the success of any business, the Disney parks require more. They require a hands on, involved management, they require imagination and innovation and art. Those intangibles are not easily translated to the bottom line, but are what makes Disney unique.

The globalization is ruining the parks. It is pulling the power away from the local presidents who are best able to decide what is best for their park and putting into Jay's hands where he's trying to make a decision on a global scale which doesn't work. It's why Matt left. He wasn't going to work somewhere where he was just a figurehead and powerless to make change. Do you honestly think that Matt would have been able to resurrect Disneyland from the Pressler/Harris debacle with Rasulo in charge? Hardly.

We need more people as presidents of these parks who know them inside and out, who love them, and who want nothing more than to do everything within their power to make them the jewel of theme parks worldwide as they should be. Instead, Rasulo has put in figureheads like Ed Grier and Meg Crofton who will just say yes to whatever he wants and won't stand up to him and say this is a mistake. The only one currently capable of standing up to Rasulo is Lassetter as he has Iger's ear more than Rasulo. Unfortunately the florida parks don't have lasseter on board.

And how is not celebrating the 25th anniversary of the most innovative theme park of all time not a travesty. And yes, the reason it isn't being celebrated is because it would interfere with our "global" marketing scheme. As to YoMD tell me how it's a success. The people aren't coming into the parks because of it, most people I've talked to don't even understand the thing. The HCoE was a success but that doesn't mean that we need to keep having global celebration after global celebration (which many of the foreign parks are just ignoring anyhow). The people are coming into the parks because they love WDW not because Rasulo dreamed up this million dreams nonsense.

Philip.

You're taking the defensive already?

And Screaming?

Grow up and realize that you may be wrong and not all people will agree with you.

Rasulo is a failure and Crofton is a spineless corporate yeswoman. We need more Griers and fewer Croftons in the company.

STOP POINTING FINGERS AT RASULO ALREADY!!!

I'M STILL DYING TO HEAR OPINIONS THAT CAST HIM IN A MORE FAVORABLE LIGHT!!!

Well, when you take the position, there is nowhere else for fingers to point, now is there...?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for those responses...:dazzle: :zipit:

What we need are more creative types and less pencil pushers. The reason the WDC came into prominance was the balance between Walt and Roy. As I see it we currently have too many "Roys" and not enough "Walts" in power.

Being a "Roy" is not a bad thing, however a balance is essential with the artistic community within the company.

What kind of logic is that? You ask people why they have hatred for Meg Crofton and Jay Rasulo, then you get mad and defensive when people tell you. If you don't want to hear the answers, then why ask the question in the first place?

If you did it just to have an excuse to start an arguement or flame people for having an opinion, then you need to grow up.

Now, can we please hear from somebody who does NOT see Rasulo in a negative light?!

Oooohhh...gonna be waitin' a long time for that one.

Ok, hows about this. Tell us why you are so fond of Jay. You know him? Ever met him? Have any examples of how he has helped the parks?

Phillip, you REALLY need to calm down. People might mistake you for an obnoxious troll.

It's funny that we have to open up a thread from July of 2003 to find support for Jay lol. I do love people who are quick to attack a series of people offering well-supported arguments in one direction, but unwilling to offer any sort of counter-argument. That kind of logic is reasonable for kindergarteners, but that's pretty much the extent. I seem to remember being expected to at least have a rudimentary support structure for my claims by first grade (e.g. Mrs. Doyle: "Now, Kyle. WHY is baseball fun?" "Well Mrs. Doyle, I get to hiwt the bawl at Michael, and I don't yike him vewy much so it's fun!!").
