Why not do what Universal does?

What time of day? What type of outage?

There's a lot that goes into it, but if it's a hard down, you'll have the option. It's just easy for them to do.

That said, TSMM is a crowd control nightmare, so yeah, I could see them limiting that.
It was around 7 or 8 pm. Not sure what caused the ride to stop, but we had to climb up ladders to get off of it.

I'm sure this has been discussed on here before, but I'm relatively new to this forum. Anyway, like myself, it seems as though many people don't really like the fastpass+ system. So my question is, why not do what Universal does with its express passes and allow guests to purchase tickets like that? I mean, if Universal can make it work, no doubt Disney can as well, and it would take all the headaches out of the constant way-in-advance planning that a trip to WDW requires.

FP+ is actually more accepted than paper FP. The great thing about FP+ is it is designed to be changed in the future.

I can not stand companies that give VIP service that directly affects other people's experience simply because some people have more money. I much prefer Disney's method to be more fair to all. I hope Disney never goes the Universal way for "skip the lines".

I live in Florida, it always rains. In fact, it was raining today.
OK, I must have been dreaming that I was dry all day, everyday. I never said it didn't rain in Florida, of course it does. But, it doesn't always rain unless I went the WDW that is located in a parallel universe. I've gone for as long as 2 weeks without a drop of rain. Granted I do not live there and only spend a few days each year, but, I guess that I have been lucky. I bought ponchos about 10 years ago, they are still in the package unopened.

That's really not true. I have been going regularly for 32 years. 47 trips all together. I have been rained on only once and that was in the evening. Quick storm over with fast and I continued on.
Sorry, I was stretching the truth slightly. Just a little joke. I love hearing about how when WDW was built they designed it like Disneyland and then realized open air lines don't work in a place with a lot of rain, lol.

Fastpass+ has worked really well for us. We are pass holders and go several times a month but I can understand the frustration for those who visit less frequently sometimes once in a lifetime and can't get the coveted A&E or 7DMT. Uni's system simply wouldn't work at WDW in my opinion. There are far too many visitors and far too few attractions. One thing that blows my mind is when someone can't get a fastpass+ then acts like they can't enjoy the attraction. There is always standby. Yes it may be a long wait but if it is that important then stand in line. We have had very good luck selecting fastpass+ the day before and day of. Sometimes it just takes patience. We also have good luck changing plans on the fly. Every time there has been unexpected downtime we have received a "wild card" fast pass to use at any attraction. We are also passholders at Uni so we get free express after 4p.m. We use it but it is never absolutely necessary. It is usually a must on RR&RI and DM me. The headliners in the WWOHP(Forbiden Journey and Gringotts) are not eligible so there is no benefit there. In other words I would never pay extra for express if I wasn't a passholder. Yes I know it is built into the cost of our passes but a lot of times it just isn't needed. The one exception is Halloween Horror Nights. We always purchase express but we get a free admission ticket and deeply discounted tickets after that so it balances out. There is simply no way to do everything without express during HHN. Totally off topic but Diagonal Alley will be open this year during HHN so it is a great time to experience Gringgotts without a horrible wait time. JKR softened up this year I guess. Probably the huge paycheck she is getting helps.

Oh, and the whole concept of "fastpass" kinda loses its meaning when they are trying to cram too many fastpasses into a certain window of time.

I've read that's an issue with Universal Express as well, because everyone at the hotels get it.If everyone decides to go on the same ride, you could get an hour long Express queue. As FP has timed slots, the only time you should see overwhelemed queues is when something breaks down and those guests get a use anywhere pass.

I do not feel that the Universal system would work/go over all for Disney as a company or with Disney guests.

I think it's safe to say that FP+ is not "free"-it is sold as a free perk but we all know it's not free as all costs need to be picked up somewhere. Like those FP+ machines you touch your band to were free and Disney forgives the cost? Just like DME is not really free. Gigantic buses, gas, and employees salaries need to be paid so Disney makes up the cost in oh say your park ticket or high room rate or in your almost $3 bottle of water.

Well these are probably free because I don't see Disney dropping the price of hotel rooms if they eliminated some of these things.

If I stayed at Universal, the express passes would be included at no cost at all, so I'm not sure your post makes any sense.

I am within the category of NOT staying onsite at Universal because the hotel prices are ridiculous when you can stay a night in a hotel walking-distance for like, $60.00s a night. On top of that, there is basically no need to stay on-site considering you'll be in the parks most of the day anyways. So you're basically paying for a $400 express pass with a bed for the night.
