Why not do what Universal does?

Good luck adjusting your fastpass on the day of.

Also, if you think that there are only about three rides that you would need an express pass for, then you must not have been to US lately.

Can you give me an example of rides there that have excessive wait times? Maybe it depends when you are traveling.

I feel like this thread was a trick. You don't seem interested in any of the answers as to why Disney might not do what Universal does, yet you asked the question as if you were. I give up.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
Which attractions do you mean? I have been to WDW a lot and in a lot of pretty wild weather and have never encountered a ride closed due to the weather.

The only argument against this would have to be...

Other than that, you are right.

Splash mountain. Thunder mountain. Seven dwarves. Just to name a few. I've seen them all temporarily closed due to heavy rain and lightning.

You must have some pretty bad luck then... I have NEVER seen these attractions down outside of refurbishment. 90% of WDW's rides are indoors... So what are the remaining attractions outside of those* "few?"

Simpsons. Despicable Me. Transformers. The Mummy. Men In Black. Hogwarts Express. There's six right there.

And let me get this straight. You can argue that the FP+ system is better, but I can't argue that the express pass system is better? Okay, gotcha.

7DMT, BTMR, both close every time there's a thunder storm. Happened a lot this September. They weren't closed more than an hour or so, but it still messed up the FP+.

Nah, that's ridiculous.. I thought this thread was gonna be more about how fast rides and attractions are being built compared to their announcement dates... That I'd be for. But Disney wins on the count of FP+. It's stupid and unnecessary to pay so much for express passes at Universal.
I don't find the cost to be unreasonably expensive at all.

I've never had a time when I couldn't use a fastpass so I don't know if this is true but, if Disney ahuts down a ride aren't fastpasses good later in the day if the ride reopens?

Yes, they are. Better hope you don't already have something else scheduled though. Oh, and the whole concept of "fastpass" kinda loses its meaning when they are trying to cram too many fastpasses into a certain window of time.

No is the short answer. Sometimes you can talk them into a paper FP, but by FP rules, they don't have to. Rules read you can choose another FP. BUT the answer to the thread question is (IMO) too many people would buy and you'd just have two long lines.

One Little Spark...
Tower of Terror went down and I couldn't use my fastpass. I asked for a replaceme to fastpass to TSM and was told "nope."
What time of day? What type of outage?

There's a lot that goes into it, but if it's a hard down, you'll have the option. It's just easy for them to do.

That said, TSMM is a crowd control nightmare, so yeah, I could see them limiting that.
